  1. I believe new versions of the I-485 can issue a new (replacement) SSN card even with an existing card. I did no when I did my AOS, but later realized that saying yes and providing SSN is good since SSA will potentially send a card without any annotations. This can save a trip to the SSA office. Otherwise, requesting a replacement card after getting the green card would be best since it won't count against the lifetime replacement limit?
  2. Send required documentation with each form. For example, 3 copies of identity proof etc. The forms are separated for processing and it is best to include evidence with each form.
  3. Haha. I agree, but looking at posts on reddit, people seem to chat with Emma every other day, wanting to know location of case etc. At the same time, I feel case statuses before were a bit better (e.g., case ready for interview, biometrics completed). However, now it seems like cases go into 'actively reviewing' after biometrics and stay that way until either interview is scheduled or case is adjudicated, which seemed like a black box. Anyway, people will always want more information I guess. Definitely. OP should take advantage of this while it is still new. OP: Please update with your experience if you end up using the online appointment form.
  4. Was about to post this. Seems easy to fill, but I am afraid it will also get overwhelmed in few days, just like the call center. I guess USCIS could reduce a lot of calls and Emma chats if they provided more fine-grained case status information, but I digress.
  5. It looks like USCIS has added the ability to request appointments using a web-form rather than the call center to request appointments at field offices for ADIT stamps etc. This seems like a welcome move and hopefully leads to efficient appointments! More information here: https://www.uscis.gov/newsroom/alerts/uscis-launches-online-appointment-request-form
  6. SSA does check the SAVE system to verify status. It did not show the correct code for some time and I had to wait about a month. It might be worthwhile to check if a case was created in the SAVE system: https://www.uscis.gov/save/save-casecheck
  7. That should be good then. Returned to agency typically means they did the verification and SSN should be arriving in one to two weeks. For me the case status changed to "returned to agency" after a month and then I received the SSN card in about a week. Hope you get yours soon!
  8. Had the same issue with my SSN application. It took about a month for them to verify information from DHS through the SAVE system. You could check on the SAVE case check system to see if a case was created here: https://save.uscis.gov/save/app/client/ui/case-check.
  9. Most likely they want you to visit the consulate for an interview.
