I would go home and continue the process. Like others said, it’s not ordinarily an issue, however fact you stated you were going back I’d don’t know if I’d risk AOS. Could be nothing but I’m rather play it safe. You do touch on separation and we’ve all been there. Time isn’t forever and trust me you’ll think back in a few years time and think the separation was minuscule. Good luck and do what you feel is best for you.

They sell flash cards on Amazon. Worked great for me- studying whilst working. Good luck!

How would you convince CBP of need to return to work considering you stayed 5 + months in the US without urgent need to return home to work? I don’t expect this to be as smooth sailing as you expect at the border and rightfully so you should be denied and advised to follow the correct Visa process for intent to move here. Sounds like AOS intent to me from outside perspective. Regardless best wishes!

Urgent!!!
Vegas i-751 replied to Blue Tuna's topic in Adjustment of Status from Work, Student, & Tourist Visas
Let’s be real- this sounds fishy. Why would “friend” have a visa if she’s from a visa waiver country? I’m British by birth and we do the ESTA unless disqualified for one reason or another. Also, totally don’t buy this story at all sorry. Does “friend” want marriage for extension of X visa via AOS for GC? Tell “friend” to follow the legal K1/CR-1 process thank you ☺️ -
I think your fiancé needs to have strong ties ready to present especially having visited so recently and sounds like she has very weak motivations to return back to Canada (aside from family) vs. adjusting status. From the offset it does sound like a AOS is on the horizon if your fiancé visits soon but I’d encourage you to follow the correct and legal route. The wait is totally worth it! I came K1 and now a Citizen since January 2023 🥰

Like others I don’t buy it. Even if your fiancé magically got the visa (which mostly likely she wouldn’t IMO) she’d have no intent to return to the Philippines- we see this happening ALL the time! Please wait it out like others including me- it’s worth it! I understand your frustrations like many others but again immigration is not quick nor easy. Good luck!

Do the right thing and ask your wife to apply for a sibling visa. This idea is moot and won’t fly at CBP.

Depressed
Vegas i-751 replied to Cookie dough's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports
Don’t give up or lose hope. I remember like many the anxiety, wait, frustration but promise you it is all worth it especially when you/spouse naturalises. The experience of becoming a citizen is so rewarding. In the grand scheme of things it is only a small wait to spend (hopefully) the rest of your life with your loved one! Good luck and wishing you the speediest journey 🙌 -
US passport
Vegas i-751 posted a topic in Passports, etc. - What to do now that you are a US citizen
I applied expedited for my US Passport mid January and got it around 5th Feb but of course photocopied it prior to sending and felt sick to my stomach procrastinating it’d get lost lol. Still haven’t received my naturalisation cert yet and didn’t pay expedite to get it back. It says on website it may take up to 8 weeks to receive supporting docs- I know I’m 5 weeks in waiting or so and trying to be most patient one can be as I know they get slammed. I’m going to follow up after 8 weeks have passed to reflect website since I’ve got my passport per website. Maybe it is that slow to get the cert back? Is it safe to assume I’m going to be out $500+ for replacement naturalisation cert if I don’t get it back at the 8 week point? I did photocopy the cert and get post office to stamp for authenticity (which may be meaningless). Not sure if many have experience of this but I’m sure it happens frequently. Thanks! -
n-400 early file & state residency
Vegas i-751 replied to josh tree's topic in US Citizenship General Discussion
Exactly this! I’d wait as the residency rule is clear and wouldn’t prepare to argue out interpretations. I’ve been a US citizen 2 months now and honestly doesn’t feel any different and I forget most times I’m a citizen too LOL- it’s no revelation I promise! I feel blessed yes of course but if I was in your case I’d wait it out for 2 months vs. potentially wasting money in risking a denial due to residency. Honestly I still feel like a LPR even though I’m a US citizen now lol. Please act smart as I’d hate you to get denied and lose your hard earned money. Good luck too on the final end of your journey!!!! 🙌 -
I would think long and hard about AOS and wouldn’t rush. I’m now a US citizen and back in 2018/19 it took 5-7 months for EAD/AP- it is a lot longer than one thinks. It really had impact on my mental/emotional health. Today it takes up to 1 year (give or take from what I read on here)- maybe longer but I haven’t checked in few years. If I could turn back time I’d wish I had done the CR-1 hands down so I could have worked/travelled immediately upon entry. However, I had to ride the AOS out. I’ve been relatively lucky with processing times and didn’t have to wait too long at each stage. I totally understand the longing to be with a loved one (we all do) but I’d highly recommend factoring in everything especially homesickness and lack of ability to immediately travel. Good luck with your journey and the decision you make 😊

Why wouldn't you file for citizenship?
Vegas i-751 replied to Stein's topic in General Immigration-Related Discussion
Everyone has the right to choose of course but I’m glad I done N400. It feels absolutely marvellous to be a both a US/British Citizen, to be able to vote etc and no need to file or worry about USCIS 🙌 -
5 year LPR vs. 3 year LPR for the N400
Vegas i-751 replied to TastyCake's topic in General Immigration-Related Discussion
I had my oath ceremony yesterday and naturalised under the 3 year rule. Came on K1 and so seemed natural progression to N400. My interview took 6 months from initial app which was way faster than I expected and that was for Las Vegas. The CO officer for N400 was so nice and kind, and was training a new CO at the same time during my interview which was pretty cool. I felt a lot of love from the interview, (plus they let my husband sit in too during my interview despite me already having been approved for my ROC early 2022). I don’t regret it and I am on cloud 9 as my journey is finally complete ❤️🇺🇸🎉 -
Naturalisation cert signature
Vegas i-751 replied to Vegas i-751's topic in US Citizenship General Discussion
Thanks. “signature of the bearer” to me translates as your regular signature you use for all documents aside from immigration purposes. -
Hey all, Do you sign the naturalisation cert with your regular signature you sign forms with or do you write your name on that line as it appears on form? Thanks

Good evening, Oh my-where do I start?! I had the most fabulous experience with an amazing Co. So they let hubs in as I said I was applying under 3 year rule and he should attend in my view. We sat for 5 minutes before being called and she joked he better not tell me the answer to my civics LOL- I was only N400 and no combos as I already have my 10 year. Glad they let him in after I asked them to as it’s cold here in Vegas (no need in my view to stand outside). I got asked all my civic questions- 6 of which I got correct then the CO stopped, asked a question to read out loud and to respond on the tablet. She said to my hub she loved our pictures and told him she was waiting for him to smile. I burst out laughing loudly as he always has a business look; I said hun you’ll be waiting a while LOL- she said I see hahahaha. I got approved on the spot at the end and I loved that she was training a newbie CO at the time too. The CO was fabulous and it was the best experience I could ever have asked for. Done and out within 15 mins. Oath scheduled 1st week if Jan. I’ll treasure this experience. Thanks to all on VJ for everything; I’m finally done!!!!! ❤️🇺🇸🙏

Good beautiful evening, I’m so excited for my upcoming interview next week. I have no traffic offenses/no criminal records and assuming all will be easy. My app and file I’m taking is absolutely jam packed with Bonafides including upcoming trip to spending time with my family at Christmas (all printed itinerary etc). I’ve studied the 100 civic questions to death LOL. How do people contain their excitement about coming to the end of this journey? It will be a N400 interview only as I have my 10 yr GC 🙌💯😍🥰❤️

Thanks team! 💯

Issues filing N400 online
Vegas i-751 replied to Loren Y's topic in US Citizenship General Discussion
Congrats man!!!! Now just for N400; won’t take long!!!! So happy for you 😍 -
I am for sure. I’m not sure if they will let him enter the building per stand alone 3 yr already approved I-751/n-400 reviews but I’ll definitely try entering together. Was curious though based on experiences 😊

Hey! I have my ROC approved so will not be a dual interview. My interview is coming up soon. From a lot of reviews they say to bring your spouse but I’m sure Covid has complicated things but do many people actually get to bring their spouse in to their interviews? I’m anticipating no but is every Field Office different? I’m fully prepped already and will have my husband drop me off but I doubt he’s needed right as I already have my 10 yr GC. I have my Bonafides printed already and have no criminal record/traffic violations. Ready to rumble my end! TIA
