Hi, I’m a green card holder and was offered employment with a state agency in Arizona. Upon completing the onboarding documents, one of the requirements was to sign a “Loyalty Oath”, but I wasn’t sure if I could actually sign this. The form says aliens are exempt from compliance with the oath, but my hiring manager said all employees must sign it, however I was told to reach out to my HR for any questions. Now I’m confused on what to do with that part of the onboarding. Should I just leave it blank?

Hi, I actually did use that and it was updated the same day I applied in-person. It never updated after that. It should come in the mail automatically after applying.

Hi, I immigrated to the U.S. as a LPR in October of 2022. I am single and my only source of income in 2022 was from my Canadian full-time salaried job and my side gig (I make YouTube videos). Based on my research, I believe any income I earned before I moved to the U.S. is not considered U.S. source income since all my work was strictly done in Canada. Correct me if I am wrong, please. Since moving here, my only source of income (as an LPR) has been through YouTube/Sponsors/PayPal. My understanding is that, I file 1040 (as a resident alien) reporting this income. But IRS' website says I have to include 1040-NR as a statement - what exactly does this mean though? I'm not sure if I had any U.S. source income. Will my tax accountant know what to do? I have an appointment set for this Wednesday so hopefully he can figure it out. FYI, my 2022 income in the U.S. (after October 2022) has been below the $12K standard deduction so I'm curious what type of tax I have to pay on it. This is my first time ever filing taxes on my own (I'm 22 and normally my parents have helped me in Canada but now I'm on my own). Thanks!

I looked into it, and there’s a dedicated form for immigration-related issues. I think we’ll try to fill that out and go from there. I figured it might be a good idea to try that out before pursuing a WOM.

Hi, have there been any recent approvals without a WOM? We’ve been stuck for around 6 months now (petitioned 14 years ago, it’s been a really long journey). We were thinking of going the senator or WOM route after the officially 6 month mark. Does anyone have an estimate timeline for how many months after submitting DS-5535 you can message your senator or file a WOM?

I successfully swapped my “G” Ontario license for an Arizona driver license on Friday. The DMV gave me my old Ontario license back and didn’t keep it. Do I need to inform Service Ontario that I am no longer an Ontario resident?

Thanks. Using a Canadian passport biographic page for both photo identification and proof of I-551 should be fine, right? In the instructions, it says if you're using your I-551 on your passport, you must also include a copy of your passport biographic page. So that means that there would be 2 copies of the biographic page.

Hi, I'm helping prepare my mom's I-131 as we prepare to file it this weekend. The package requires photo ID and proof of permanent residency. For both of these requirements, should we submit color copies or black and white? We don't have the physical green cards yet so we will be submitting a photocopy of the passport with the biographic and visa page. Also, a follow up. We don't really have any other U.S. government-issued ID (yet). We applied for a State ID today and have a temporary one on a white piece of paper, although there's a watermark on it that says "NOT FOR ID PURPOSES". So I'm assuming we can't use it. In this case, can we submit 2 x copies of the biographic page of the passport (one to prove Photo ID, and one to go along with the I-551 stamp + visa)? Thanks!

Hi, I received my SSN card today and tried to create a mySocialSecurity account. When trying to register on Login.gov, it said my credentials were invalid. Is it possible that it may be "too early" and that I have to wait a few days before it gets added to the system? I was able to apply for a DL, but unable to register things like Login.gov, E-verify.gov, Credit Karma, etc. Thanks!

Hi, I entered the U.S roughly 2.5 weeks ago on an F3 immigrant visa. I selected to receive a SSN on my application but did not receive one yet. I called the SSA and was told that regardless of whether I selected the option to receive one on my DS-260 or not, I still have to apply in-person. So I went today to apply but was told that I have to wait until 30 days from the day we entered, or until the IV expires, which is exactly 30 days from when we entered. Has anyone else been told anything about this 30 day rule before? Curious because I didn’t think that the expiration date of the IV mattered once we entered the U.S.

Hi everyone, when we submitted a copy of the I-864 form to NVC, the petitioner lost the original signed copy and re-signed the paper after we submitted it to NVC, so we don't have the original paper with the signature anywhere (it was likely thrown out or misplaced somewhere). This was in 2020 so I don't think we'll be able to find it anywhere. I'm wondering, what can we do in this case? Our interview is coming up in two weeks and I'm a bit worried. We planned on bringing a completely new I-864, with updated income, tax information, and signatures to the interview. Would it be a good idea to upload this to NVC prior to the interview as well? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.
