  1. Thanks for the reply. Sorry but it's still unclear to me what exactly you mean…? Cannot upgrade visa categories? Cannot request change multiple times?? Cannot change at all ??? You've said one 'Can not' upgrade visa categories yet one can as stated 👇🏽: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/national-visa-center/immigrant-visas-processing-general-faqs.html ...but what I do not know / not clear (hence my question ) is if one can keep requesting change of categories as VB becomes current in the respective favourable category, and if there is a limit to do so (As asked above).
  2. Hi everyone, Asked this a while back on some forum but never got any answers. 👇🏽 Anybody with some insights? ... Hello VJ, Now that there is notice that F2B may retrogress at some point in future and F1 dates has started moving, it is a very possible that F1 final action dates may overtake F2B at some point. For those whose petitioners have since naturalized, I know there is an option to request USCIS to retain F2B category because of a favourable cut off date. In the event F1 dates become favourable to the applicant, I know its also possible to request USCIS to switch the case to F1. Question: How many times can one switch between the two categories as dates become favourable to them? Is there a limit to the number of times one can request switch in categories?

  4. Hello VJ, My deceased brother, F2B had been DQ'd on Aug 2021 before his demise. He died Jan 2022 so the petitioner (my mother) had to inform NVC (through The Public Inquiry form) so they can close the case. He had 2 daughters as derivatives. They asked for the death cert which was sent. Just yesterday the petitioner received an email that my brothers case has been Documentarily Qualified (Again), 3rd July 2023. We were expecting maybe an acknowledgement of receipt of the Death Certificate and a notification that the case has been closed... What was that all about? Its confusing as this now has my mother believe that maybe there is some sort of path for her grand daughters to immigrate. Could it be just an erroneous communication from NVC and that the case is closed or could this mean the case is still active. When exactly is a case closed, at NVC, at The Embassy?? Thank you all for your inputs.
  5. Sigh! @Timona , it is may be a weird question to you but it is a legitimate and straight forward question to me (and others) I'm out here trying to learn and seek as much info as I can in preparation for my case...and I'm sure thats exactly what VJ is all about. The discussions here may help other people too. That's why the question is still up and others have shared their perspective. My story isn't weird though, I'm an unmarried over 21 years old waiting to be interviewed soon for an F2B Visa. Hope that answers your question. I appreciate your views nevertheless.
  6. Do you realize that in some countries, no such document exists?
  7. I appreciate the discussion which has been very insightful. From your inputs it seems to me one cannot really prove through documentation that they are unmarried, more so for countries that don't have the CENOMAR. Does that mean, other than the phillipines where such a document exists, the embassies have no way of acertaining if one is unmarried? How then do they go about cases where they may have suspicions of ones marital status?
  8. Its unfortunate that happens here on VJ.Its also sad that such instances have made people here on VJ be suspect of anybody with legitimate concerns/questions. Hopefully I'll get the answers.
  9. Hi VJ, One of the key requirements for the F2B visa is that one has to be unmarried. I also understand at the embassy one has to back up info provided on the DS260 with documentation and proof. Being unmarried is a major requirement when pursuing this visa. That said, does one need to prove this through documentation or they will just 'trust' your word? If so, how do you even prove this?
  10. This is not entirely accurate. A visa can never be issued until your PD becomes current irrespective of your DQ date. They look at PD first then from there they filter it out to earliest to latest DQ.
  11. Good you pointed this out. This is concerning and confusing because my thought was there were limits to how much a country can receive certain visas in a fiscal year. Issuing over 50% of F2B visas to one country is outrageous and honestly, ridiculous to some of us who've been waiting for years in other countries. I doubt if its still an issue with embassy workload and staffing, it seems deliberate that they are just not processing certain Family Visas in some embassies. Looked up my country Kenya Visa Issuance Numbers and The Employment Based Numbers are usually high and Family Visas are disturbingly low. I just can't understand how this system works anymore.
