Has anyone else accidentally registered your scheduled interview through the Paris portal as being a resident of Portugal with a CR1/IR1 interview? On Paris's own webpage there was no warning to tell residents of Portugal not to register, but alas on the NVC site it says "they are not required to" and further down it says "Do not register". I am concerned about what may happen to our interview date since I did indeed register - and the consulate is not responding to emails.

Wanted to give an update to any and everyone following this thread that lives in Portugal. There is now a new clinic that does the exam again - its the same doctor - just a different clinic now!!

Funny enough, I just got our approval about 2 minutes ago also. We go through this together ahaha

So I read about @JobbinsKnobbins going also to Paris for the medical exam - they did it the same week if I'm not wrong. They do the tests on 2 separate days. What I read online is that they either give you your results the same day in a sealed envelop OR they send it through the French medical system. IF your results are not ready by time of the interview it says it WILL NOT harm your interview, but they will wait to give you the yes or no until they have those results. (read this on the French Embassy portal)

Hey Jess, Thanks so much for letting me know here - I have been trying to call them. Its absolutely crazy that Lisbon is pointless when it comes to this process. Now the option is an island and France - so wild. We will likely go to France in this situation - and just try to make it a 1-week stay in Paris or something. This was surprising. Maybe (I doubt it) they'll choose another Dr soon. We have probably 3-4 months before an interview is scheduled.

Thanks for the info - yeah I had read of someone that went to Paris for it and said that the medical exam there happens in 2 stages instead of 1. That is what we will do if Lisbon really doesn't have the exam anymore. It is just frustrating since we live 20 minutes away from Sete Rios (US consulate Lisbon) and 30mins away from Campo Grande (Medical Exam) ahaha

Thank you so very much Rita! I really hope its the case its a mistake, or it will be ridiculous that you can't do an interview nor even get a medical exam in the country's capital city. I'll update what I find here to anyone else in Portugal that may end up seeing this

Hello all, We are interviewing in Paris and live with residence in Portugal. Upon looking on the website for approved medical practitioners in Portugal it says there are 2 however the website only lists the individual in Azores, not the one in Lisbon anymore. I called the French Embassy and they helped me not at all. I also called the Dr in Azores and he also wasn't sure. Basically, does anyone have the contact of the Dr. in Lisbon that used to be on the website? I'd like to call them and see if they are still approved and if this is just an error on the website. Ahh okay I understand - I suppose that does make sense from a "self-employed" business stance. And yeah, that 60k is on my total income line 9 of 1040. For 2021 it was 24. Will my pay stubs/Invoices not really matter then as proof of current income? Since they'll only care about 2022? I appreciate the information!

Her current earnings are in EUR - but they will state her earnings when we move in USD as that as what she will be earning. We will certainly do it anyways - just incase it helps in any deciding factor - can't hurt I suppose. As far as my (petitioner) income for 2022 it was around 60k - so if its really based of that there is no problem I'd suppose. I was under the understanding however that it was your "current income" that mattered? And that your past (up to 3 years) tax were more of a reference to confirm how much you claim your current income is? Thanks!

We got an email on Friday the 14th saying that our case was being actively reviewed by USCIS On the 17th USCIS approved our case On the 20th NVC has received our case and emailed us! To anyone out there doubting - we also had all the "taking longer than expected" and thinking it would take until September but it suddenly all moved so fast!

Hello all - I have been rummaging through USCIS/Lawyer/VisaJourney/Reddit/Govt sites and can't seem to get the 100% clear answer to my following doubt: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Background Information: To start - we are currently filing the IR1/CR1 Spousal (we are at NVC stage) I am a freelancer whom works for a US company (though I work remotely outside the US) and get a 1099 - my past 2 tax returns include 1099s also - 2 years ago(2021) I made slightly under the 125% (by $200), last year I made well over the 125%, and this year I have already made over the 125% - Additionally, I have enough liquid assets to cover the 125% x 3 were it needed. I plan also to get a letter of continuing employment for myself (to also show proof of reestablishing domicile) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Actual Question/Doubt: Where my doubt is the following: I have seen mostly people talking about people whom are already living legally and working in the US as the intending immigrant and therefore using their income at that point. Is that the case? or can we use a letter from her employer? Am I able to use my intending immigrant spouse's income as part of the Affidavit of Support under the following circumstances? 1. She works for a large multi-national where she is currently employed in Portugal 2. The multi-national has already agreed to transfer her position to the US upon moving there (it was agreed since the beginning) 3. They said they will write her a letter stating that she is currently employed and how much she makes - and that they will transfer her job to the US and how much she will make when she can work in the US USCIS says the following: 1. If you included the income of your spouse listed in Part 5., Item Number 3., any child listed in Part 5., Item Number 4., any dependent listed in Part 5., Item Number 5., or any siblings, parents, or adult children listed in Part 5., Item Number 7., each one of these individuals must be over 18 years of age and must complete Form I-864A. 2. If you included the income of the intending immigrant who is your spouse (he or she would be counted in Part 5., Item Number 1.), you must provide evidence that his/her income will continue from the current source after obtaining lawful permanent resident status. He or she does not need to complete Form I-864A unless he or she has accompanying children. Since I am not their ideal W2 earner with a "stable" income that they seek - I just want to have all the backups I can incase anything happens. Thank you!

I think I'd have to get the new job first for that to happen, right? - from what I am seeing about the DCF though, it seems that is something to file at the 1st stage? I am expecting a USCIS response rather soon at this point as we already filed back in August I'm not sure I understand what the benefit of the DCF would be at this point.

So, I have been following for some time and reading what I can about domicile and supporting the move of my spouse and I to the US as our case will likely move to NVC stage within the next 2 months. I wanted to try and not ask anything that has already been asked - but have some clarifications I am seeking guidance on that are specific to our case. My spouse and I met in a 3rd country (Portugal) which we are both temp residents of ( have been for 5 years each). We are doing the whole process here and our consulate is in Paris since Lisbon doesn't do the interview anymore. I have lived outside of the US for 6 years, but have voted and maintained my Minnesota DL (I went back in 2022 to renew it to make sure it didn't expire). I mail my vote from the US embassy here in Lisbon. From my understanding those 2 things along with a letter of intent for our plans to move to Portland (SHOULD) be quite sufficient for my intent to reestablish. Additionally: I work for a US company and have been getting a 1099-INT for half of 2021, all of 2022, and am currently going to get one for 2023 - however the company I work for is closing this month (yaaaay job searching) - it will have also earned me nearly the "poverty" limit for 2023 - and am in interviews for another remote US based job (hopefully that happens sooner than later and they could write me a letter - but can't be sure that will happen) As far as 2022 taxes go, I owe in Portugal this year as I couldn't avoid being a tax resident anymore, so I will file a FEIE (that is the intention but have to complete Portuguese taxes this month first) My wife's company also already agreed to give her a letter saying they will employ her in the US when we arrive (her salary is even higher than mine when we move) - so that should help I am hoping So, I feel that I have sufficient proof that I will reestablish domicile -- and 21/2022 tax returns are above poverty line - I also just happen to be getting inheritance this year in forms of ROTHS as well as a smaller direct pay (I suppose that is income / but the ROTHs not if I don't withdraw) - however its an asset? I could also prove that all my assets are in US bank accounts. I guess my whole rant and giving of information is to have a sanity check from all you kind people that I am correct in my thinking? Just chiming in here as it appears I am in the same situation - however it has been saying 2 months - and now it has gone up to 5 months Has anything changed for any of you since Feb?
