Hi everyone!
I have a FB friend from facebook VAWA group. She told me that she used an attorney in New York to file her VAWA. She lives in New Jersey. She filed her VAWA through this attorney in Nov-2022. She received her case receipts today. She did not receive those on her mailing address but on the attorney’s mailing address. The attorney sent her the email with the receipts. Unfortunately, she saw that her last name and first name has spelling mistakes. I got appalled on hearing this as these attorneys are so stupid. She called me crying that when she sat in their office in Nov-22 while filling her application, she made sure to tell them to put correct spellings and yet they made a mistake. Now she called them and they said they will immediately submit e-request with USCIS. I’m confused like her as is this possible for so quickly? Because she’s scared that now all her EAD or AP etc will come with mistaken names. She hasn’t received biometrics request yet.
Secondly, her receipt number starts with LIN and all her 4 receipts (I-360, I-485, I-1765, and I-131) has Nebraska Benefits Center written at bottom left. I remember my receipts started with EAC and had Vermont Service Center written at bottom left. I know because I joined this group and learned so much that all VAWA cases are to be filed at VSC only. Does this mean that her attorney filed the case at the wrong center. If that happens, I know USCIS automatically transfers the case to VSC because VAWA only happens in VSC. That’s what I remember from a discussion on this group many times. Is that still the case? Does it mean her attorney made a mistake in this also? Poor lady is very scared and blaming herself that everything happens bad in her life. I hope her stuff gets corrected soon but I reached out here if someone has advice.
I specifically asked her what her I-765 receipt shows as the class requested, and she replied that it says C09P so at least her attorney didn’t put the wrong class and she will get EAD.
Thank you so much!
