  1. Hi Sandra ma’am! USCIS said that the mail is missing per tracking so to file another application for a replacement card. I’m looking into filing another application as I need the EAD and will try to expedite with the congressman. However, I have question ma’am: - Will USCIS close my current EAD case, the one which is missing? I ask because USPS said that there is a chance I might get the missing mail in 1-2 months?
  2. Hi family! I have a concern: My renewal combo-card was approved end of April-2024 and my card was mailed on May 12. However, I never received it and USCIS provided me tracking number which showed in transit for many days. I called USPS and even after multiple requests, it wasn't found and then I filed a missing item report. Now they say that "After investigating, it's determined that your item may have been damaged in transit and sent to the recovery center." Can I go to this recovery center? I don't even know where this recovery center is. I am in NJ by the way. I am very confused and should I now apply for a new combo card? I don't want to lose my employment. Anyone has any experience about this? Please advise.
  3. Thank you for your feedback, family! I will not respond to my ex-wife. I have another question: Do we have to pay renewal fees for EAD-AP combo card after 01Apr even if we have a pending I-485 and c09 category? I thought fees were waived. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
  4. Hi fam! I request if you can provide your opinion to my situation as I’m getting a little anxious. So, my ex-wife has been an abuser all through my marriage. I filed for Vawa in March-2022 and is still under process. I got separated in Jan-2022 and filed for divorce which got finalized in Sep-2023. I made sure to send her the original copy by mail, and pdf copy by email as well as through phone the day I received the divorce degree. She texted me a week ago asking about divorce and emailed me at same time asking to contact here otherwise threatening to get government involved. She says she wants to address something immediately and urgently but we have already divorced and maybe she forgot we got divorced because in the email she said “hey its your wife here”. I’m getting very anxious because I don’t want any contact with her. Should I not respond at all or should I just respond to never contact me as we are divorced and attach divorce copy along with proof that I sent her those last year. I am scared as she is crazy and might try to reach out to govt (USCIS) to harm me. She threatened the same when we lived together. Please advice.
  5. Thank you so much, Priya! Can you share the link again, please?
  6. Hello family! Can someone guide me here, please? Do you think she has to return the card and file everything again?
  7. Hi everyone! I have a question for a friend who also filed VAWA. She has her first name as: Jane Elizabeth and last name as: Doe (I changed names here for explanation). She got her EAD/AP combo card last week but it says - First Name: Jane and Last name: Elizabeth Doe which is of course contradictory to what was filled in her application. Even the approval notice says the same. My question is: Can she still travel with that combo card? Can she still apply for job with that card? if this has to be changed, what would be the process now? Her attorney is ghosting her and she’s getting very anxious. Please let me know what you think.
  8. Ohh wow, I didn’t know we can expedite on phone. Whenever I called they would tell me to write. I wish you all the best and hope that you get expedited!
  9. Hi! I hope you’re filing 6 months before your expiry. Please keep us posted when you get your EAD-AP renewed. Thank you!
  10. Thank youbfor your response! You’re right about it. Actually, my EAD will expire late May and 180 days before it for renewing it will be around Nov 2023. USCIS says: they will give 540 days extension for all renewal applications filed before Oct 26 2023; and for renewal applications filed after this date, automatic extension will be for 180 days. Hence, I was thinking to send mine a month before.
  11. Hi Sandra! If my EAD expires in Apr-2024 (6months before Apr-2024 is Nov-2023). If I file in Sep-2023, will they still process my renewal application or return it?
  12. Hello fam! I have a few questions and would genuinely appreciate your time for the below: 1. For renewing combo card, I can still apply at least 6 months before expiry. What happens if I apply more than before 6 months? Will they return my application? 2. What is the current processing time going for renewals? I read somewhere even renewals still taking around an year. 3. Would renewing EAD give automatic extension of 180 days or 360 days? I might be wrong but I remember reading that they were giving renewals extension of 360 or I guess 540 days because of back-log. Did they come back again to 180 days? 4. I’m planning to change state of residence but my lawyer is suggesting against it saying it will make my process more lengthy. Is it true? Thank you gor your time! 😊
  13. Hi! Her notice type on I-360 says: Receipt Notice Fee Waived Section: Self-Petitioning Spouse of Abusive U.S.C. or LPR (Her husband is a US citizen by the way)
  14. Hi everyone! I have a FB friend from facebook VAWA group. She told me that she used an attorney in New York to file her VAWA. She lives in New Jersey. She filed her VAWA through this attorney in Nov-2022. She received her case receipts today. She did not receive those on her mailing address but on the attorney’s mailing address. The attorney sent her the email with the receipts. Unfortunately, she saw that her last name and first name has spelling mistakes. I got appalled on hearing this as these attorneys are so stupid. She called me crying that when she sat in their office in Nov-22 while filling her application, she made sure to tell them to put correct spellings and yet they made a mistake. Now she called them and they said they will immediately submit e-request with USCIS. I’m confused like her as is this possible for so quickly? Because she’s scared that now all her EAD or AP etc will come with mistaken names. She hasn’t received biometrics request yet. Secondly, her receipt number starts with LIN and all her 4 receipts (I-360, I-485, I-1765, and I-131) has Nebraska Benefits Center written at bottom left. I remember my receipts started with EAC and had Vermont Service Center written at bottom left. I know because I joined this group and learned so much that all VAWA cases are to be filed at VSC only. Does this mean that her attorney filed the case at the wrong center. If that happens, I know USCIS automatically transfers the case to VSC because VAWA only happens in VSC. That’s what I remember from a discussion on this group many times. Is that still the case? Does it mean her attorney made a mistake in this also? Poor lady is very scared and blaming herself that everything happens bad in her life. I hope her stuff gets corrected soon but I reached out here if someone has advice. I specifically asked her what her I-765 receipt shows as the class requested, and she replied that it says C09P so at least her attorney didn’t put the wrong class and she will get EAD. Thank you so much!
