It’s just nonsensical to think that someone who’s gone through the legal process could just randomly be deported. I truly feel sorry for anyone who is unnecessarily working themselves into a frenzy over this election. There truly is nothing to fear and I hope that with time, people will start to see that.

The liberal media is causing mass hysteria over Trump’s reelection. It’s illegals he’s after, and rightfully so. We should be happy about this - while undocumented aliens have been flooding through our border and getting special treatment, we get to go through the agonizingly long legal process ourselves or with our loved ones. We pay huge processing fees, while they are getting free handouts. People who break the laws of our country should not be given priority. Sick of the media telling only half truths. I’m sure the next headline will be something like “Trump to deport any immigrants who didn’t cross the Bering Land Bridge 15,000 years ago…”

Trump’s own wife is a legal immigrant. I don’t understand the hysteria over his immigration policies - he is against ILLEGALS who have no right to be here in the first place. Anyone who has gone through the process legally should have nothing to fear.

I am so sorry you are having to go through this. I went through the same thing with my family. My father and one very close family friend were the only ones who were supportive of my relationship and plans to marry my now husband. All of my other relatives accused him of being all kinds of horrible things (a scam artist, a trafficker, etc.) and they did everything in their power to try to sabotage our plans. One aunt even called our home in the middle of the night, screaming at my father for allowing me, his adult daughter, to marry. Three years later, and only one of those relatives has made an effort to meet him. My husband is the most wonderful human I’ve ever known, and I knew in my heart that we were going to make it work. So we did. I did make him aware of the hostility, which I think is important to do. They deserve to know the whole situation, even the messy family dynamics. But the most important thing to know is that, while it may be painful to not have their “approval,” what they think shouldn’t really matter at all. Your relationship is your choice and your business. Your happiness and contentment should not depend on whether your relatives accept it or not. I used to let my own family issues eat me up inside, and I’d be lying if I said it isn’t still hurtful when I let my mind go there. BUT we cannot change the way people are. It’s up to them to make those changes, and sometimes they do….and sometimes they don’t. So, the best way to move forward is really to live and let live. Enjoy this time with your fiancé, and try not to let the negativity spoil the precious memories you are making right now! Wishing you the very best!

Evidence of time spent together is the best evidence you can provide, and it sounds like you have submitted a lot of that which is very much in your favor! Boarding passes, passport stamps, tickets, etc all carry more weight than pictures.

Hubby and I didn’t go the K-1 route, but after reading your post, I just came here to say that NONE of what I worried about during the immigration process actually happened. I let my mind run wild, and would freak out and obsess over unimportant things. If you’re getting some of these horror stories from Google, just take them with a grain of salt…Google only ever shows people’s negative experiences anyway. You’ll be fine!! 😊

As it turns out, it was actually approved! The approval notice was uploaded to the documents section today. We are in shock. It only took a few months. Thank you so much for responding to my questions and for all the advice you have offered to us! Thank you! System updated today and we have definitely been approved! We are elated!

Thank you both for responding to my question. We have an update as of this morning which has confused us even more. My husband decided to “speak” to Emma on the chat option, and she said our case was approved. He then called and spoke to two live agents who said that it hasn’t been approved yet and is still pending. Anyone have any idea on what this could mean? lol

This morning, my husband got an email notification from USCIS saying “we have taken an action on your case.” However, when he logged into the account, there was no update at that time. He’s already had his biometrics appointment, and they have been actively reviewing his case since last month. Is this a good sign?

We sent our package last Thursday, and payment was taken today and application accepted. Hubby and I were shocked by how fast our case was accepted (and relieved that we didn’t make any errors), but we are aware that the rest of the process will probably be painfully slow lol. I have two questions though! 1. How long does it take to get the extension letter? Does it come with the receipt, or after? 2. Our USCIS account already listed the receipt number, which begins with IOE. What does that mean? I’ve seen people speculating that it might mean a faster processing time, but I’m doubtful lol. Finally, I just want to thank everyone who commented on my posts with answers/advice to my questions. I so appreciate it!

We are going to be sending the packet out in the next day or two, but I am obsessing over the application, because I want to make sure everything has been filled out correctly. An additional question has come up that I hope someone can clarify for me. I am filling out form I-751 for my husband...we are sitting together and answering the questions, but I am the one writing them down, simply because my handwriting is more legible than his is lol. He can understand and speak English fluently, so that is not an issue at all. But parts 7 and 10 both ask if the petitioner has requested the services of someone other than an attorney. There is also a section where it asks for the name of the preparer, if other than the petititoner. Am I considered a preparer? I read somewhere that if you are filing jointly with your spouse, you can disregard that section. But I just want to double check that we have filled this section out correctly. Thank you all for your help!

Hi everyone! Back again with a quick question lol. When submitting evidence, such as tax documents, are we supposed to include every single page when there are many pages? Same thing with our joint auto insurance policy which is at least 50 pages long, and we have accumulated many of them over the last two years…do we need to scan and submit every one of those pages?

We have until July 20th to file, and had planned on filing exactly 90 days beforehand, but we had an unexpected expense. We get our next paycheck on the first of June, but I’m worrying that it’ll be cutting it too close and the extension letter won’t be sent in time. Could this be an issue? Could my husband lose his job as a result of this?

My father owns the property. He doesn’t charge us rent, but we pay utilities and do a lot of upkeep on the property for him. He was my husband’s sponsor, and the visa officer knew we were going to be living with him at time of interview.

Hubby and I are getting ready to file I-751, and I’m getting a bit nervous about everything cause I am a massive worrier lol. I am wondering how you organize the documents and package them up. Do you organize the paperwork into various folders? Should you staple the documents if there are numerous pages or do you just leave them loose? This sounds so silly, but I don’t know how to even start lol. Last time, we filed with a lawyer who did everything for us (and was our absolute hero), but he told us this process is fairly simple, and so we thought we would try filing on our own. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, I was wondering if anyone would be able to give some feedback on the evidence we will be submitting. So far, our file will include: • Two years of jointly filed taxes • Two years of bank statements • About a year and a half of joint utilities (just electric bill cause gas company wouldn’t let me add him) • Travel itineraries for this and last year’s anniversary trip • Hubby’s pension with me listed as beneficiary • Pictures • Two affidavits, one from my dad and one from my aunt • Christmas cards from family addressed to both of us • Joint credit card accounts • Joint auto insurance We don’t own or rent any property, because we live in the apartment upstairs from my father while I finish my degree and hubby works/studies for licensing exams. So no evidence there. Does everything else seem pretty solid though?? I’m so anxious. Lol. I am the US citizen, btw.

We just got a letter in the mail, reminding us that we will soon need to file I-751. I noticed on the envelope that it was addressed to both my husband and I - but with my maiden name, not my married name. Was I supposed to notify USCIS about the name change (changed to my married name in early 2023). It hadn’t even occurred to me to notify them. But now I’m starting to worry that when we file and I fill out the form, there’s going to be an issue. Please help! Lol

Every relationship is different, and some people just know that they’re with the right person early on. That’s completely okay, and the visa officer is aware that these things happen. The fact that you’ve already spent 3 1/2 months together is certainly in your favor. Evidence of time spent together is really one of the most important elements in these cases, so if you can arrange another visit, that would also help. As a side note, my hubby and I did the CR1 route, and I let anxiety absolutely consume me about various aspects of our own case (we married on our first meeting), and nothing that I fretted about actually happened. We did have lots of evidence of time spent together, as we lived together, after marriage, for more than a year before his interview. But even so, I was consumed by irrational worries. So basically, I said all this to say….dont fret too much! If your relationship is genuine, and it sounds like it is, you will produce more than enough quality evidence when the time comes. The I-797 receipt you get of course says it extends your status but I don't believe it satisfies I-9 requirements for an employer when you start.” idk if I was just misunderstanding what the user meant, but there it is lol.
