  • Our Story
Pamela and I met around January 2002 in Los Angeles, CA when she was visiting her sister from Peru and attended a Christian fellowship of which I was a part. We became friends almost instantly, but I was dating another girl at the time, and thus only became friends.

Pamela returned to Peru in March 2002, and I didn't see her or hear from her until February 2003, when she returned to the US. This time we went on a date (my ex had broken up with me in April 2002 b/c she just wanted to be friends) and hit it off! We ate at the Cheesecake Factory and talked until we didn't have time to go bowling (the original plan, =). Therefore, we prayed on the bluffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean and called it a night...this was only two days before she returned (again, "agonizingly") to Peru.

Pamela and I kept up our friendship by writing emails to each other. This went on for the next two years (I am kind of slow in making decisions). I studied abroad in Mexico City to learn Spanish, and kept up our contact, which now included telephone calls and Instant Messenger with Webcam (very encouraging when you can't see each other in person).

Finally in June 2005 I went to Peru for the first time!!! And on June 11, 2005 I asked Pamela to be my girlfriend, not only did she accept but she very bluntly told me she had been waiting for two years for me to ask her!

From there we became closer, and she visited me in the US in Sept 05, and I visited her in Peru in Feb 06 and Aug 06. Eventually, I decided to move to Peru, which I did in Dec 06.

I asked Pamela to marry me on February 28, 2007. She said yes!!! Bueno, me dijo, "si, si, si, si..."! We weren't sure how or when to get married, so we waited, and only in May/June of last year did we learn about the whole VISA process and decide to get married in the US. This decision was made after the US Consul told me that it would be difficult to get the right papers to get married in Peru given that I was only a tourist (even though I had been living there since Dec 06). I had had to leave Peru a couple of times during my stay there. I returned to the US on Sept 4, 07...and have missed my beloved Pamela since coming back. Oh, our papers were submitted on July 19, 2007...so alas, we await our approval.
