I , the father(US citizen) and wife(Romanian citizen) came to Romania to have the birth of the child this year (I know, who does that huh)
I called the US embassy in Bucharest a while back and they told me that a 1 day expedited passport for a fee was possible.
I recently asked again via email and now they are telling me that the CRBA and passport are printed out in the US , which has to be crazy wrong cuz how
da heck can we fly the baby out of here if the passport isn't issued here in Romania? And this person emailing me is telling me that 1 day expedited services are for emergencies only and that we'd have to wait 10 business days for processing. That was not what I was told initially. So which is it people?
It's taken us over 3 months to get the Romanian birth certificate due to paperwork delays, which we'll hopefully have by next week. Now my question about this is, do we need to do anything with this birth certificate before returning to the US? For example , when we need to show our child's birth certificate for any reason like registering for school in America, does it need to be apostilled from Romania, and translated /notarized? Or can we just use it as is and have it accepted?
