Hi everyone. I received my green card today! As I’m reading the information that came in the mail, I have a couple of questions: I’m a lawful permanent resident (CR1 category). My understanding is that I have to file for Removal of Conditions in the 90-day window period before my green card expires (which is 12/12/24, correct?) Please see attached. We plan on filing i-751 mid-September, 2024. I read the i-751 is taking a while to get approved (literally more than 1 year these days). In the meantime and while in the process of getting approved, do I have to apply for a replacement of my green card? Or, how will I be able to work, travel, etc. with an expired green card? The Information letter says: “If you are a permanent resident, the expiration date does not affect your status, but you should use Form I–90, Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card to apply for a new card as early as six months before your card expires.” Thanks in advance for your help

Yes. I guess it'll be arriving late...? I assume. This is what it says when I enter the UPS number: Moving Through Network In Transit, Arriving Late March 5, 2023 And also Latest Update Your package will arrive later than expected, but is still on its way. It is currently in transit to the next facility. Apparently, it hasn't been prepared for delivery yet. Just ho`ping for the best and that it arrives soon

I just used the receipt number from the $220 immigration fee that you paid to track the status of the greencard. It says " Card Was Picked Up By The United States Postal Service: On March 1, 2023, the Post Office picked up mail containing your new card for Receipt Number .XXX. We mailed your card to the address you gave us. The tracking number assigned is 920[...]7. You can use your tracking number at www.USPS.com in the Quick Tools Tracking section. If you did not receive the card, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request that we resend the card to you. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address. What is that supposed to mean? Is it in transit? Thank you "

Hi everyone. I’m concerned. Arrived to the country on Dec. 12, and still haven’t received my green card… I know others who have arrived after me have gotten theirs, so I’m trying to retrieve information from somewhere… Will logging into MyUSCIS give me some useful info? If the answer is “Yes”, another problem arises. I can’t seem to log in to MyUSCIS because I get stuck in the Authenticator step. For some reason, the verification code is not being sent to my phone (perhaps it’s because I changed my device for a new one or I hadn’t logged in in a long time). Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Expiration date on (MRIV)

Hello everyone, I'm in the process of getting hired at an academic institution. HR just sent me this regarding my List A document: machine-readable immigrant visa (MRIV): "Your Visa is expired and we will need a current copy in order to proceed." (so, here we go again). I guess they are seeing the "IV Expires on" section (in green) and getting confused. I responded and said that "my visa once stamped is valid for one year from the STAMP date, which will be December 13, 2023". Did I give them the correct information? I hope I so. Please refer to the attachment here. Thank you in advance for your help.

This group is amazing, and it's because of the people who make it. THANK YOU ALL for your responses. It is clear to me now that I can travel no problem with my stamped visa and come back to the USA for this family issue. The situation is stressful as is, so thank you for relieving some discomfort regarding my travel. Thanks again.

Thank you all: @Jordanian Bride, @Misscloud, @iwannaplay54. And yes, I see the bottom of my visa. However, I found this in a legal encyclopedia online: "The stamp in your passport will have an expiration date on it, which is usually six months from when it was placed there. As long as the expiration date hasn't passed, and won't pass while you are away from the U.S., you are free to travel and present this document upon return.". This is NOT my case :S :S Also, another website: "As long as the stamp is not past the expiration date on the CBP admission stamp on your visa, you are free to travel.". My visa says it expires on 15DEC2022, and the STAMP says Dec. 12, 2022 (so, this year, not 2023 ). I am scared they won't let me back

I need help. I entered the country with a CR1 visa recently. However, I need to fly back home due to a family emergency, but I have NOT YET received my green card in the mail, and the expiration date on my visa already expired few days ago (see attached). WHAT CAN I DO? I never thought I'd find myself in this situation Thanks for your help

Thank you, @jostermacedoand @powerpuff. I am quite mad and frustrated. I did share with them the USCIS links saying that the visa with the I-551 stamp is a valid acceptable document, but they just sent me this again: "I understand what you are saying about the passport, however like I mentioned before our office will need some document stating that you are obtaining a green card. The passport will not work for this. If you need further assistance, I can have my supervisor reach out in the New Year." I am clueless on what else to say / do, because they are clearly reluctant to accept "only" documents from List B and C (or A, for that matter, as I am seeing), they need that document stating that I'll be obtaining a green card.... And, as far as I know, that does not exist or I do not have one for me.
-
Thank you all again. And you're right, @powerpuff. I will try to apply for a state ID today. I just didn't need a car until now, so that is why I do not have it. So, HR got back to me: "[...] First question was about the petition, when you get an offer for a position you will need to bring a document that states that you have applied to become a permanent resident and or something that says they will be sending you your green card. If you have your green card before you get approved to work, just bring that." Do we have any any document (see bold part) of that kind? I don't remember having / receiving anything like that, so I am wondering what to bring them now.

Hi back. Thank you all who responded! I really appreciate your feedback/help... So, they just got back to me saying the following: "[...] After speaking with my supervisor, we both think the best thing to do is when you get offered a position and or sign a contract to bring in your petition for permanent residence as proof that you applied for your green card as well as documents from list B and list C. Please see attached for the acceptable documents. From there we can get your I-9 verified and once you obtain your green card you will need to bring it in to our office so that we can put it on file. I hope this helps". I am not sure what they mean by "bring in your petition for permanent residence" (I just asked them). I also politely shared with them the USCIS links that say that: “Foreign passport containing a Form I-551 stamp or Form I-551 printed notation” is an I-9 acceptable document for employment. I just hope they come to terms with it. The reason why is because I definitely I do not have "a valid Driver's license or ID card issued by the state" as a List B document, and all I would have for List C is a SSN card (which I am not sure if it is the same as " A Social Security Account Number card”). Ugh, what a headache.

Hi all, This is the second time I write about this subject, but I’m still having trouble with HR. So, I entered the USA a few days ago as a lawful permanent resident with the visa in my passport after a CR-1 process with my husband. The secretary of the Department I used to work at suggested that I went to HR to fill out an I-9 in case a last-minute position becomes available for the Spring semester. I did that. However, they’re giving me trouble for NOT having my actual green card in hand… I explained to them that receiving it in the mail can take weeks/months, but they are reluctant to accept the visa in my passport because it has an expiration date on it (it says: "Expires on: 15DEC2022", but that is the date I was supposed to enter the country by…). The person I spoke to said that they would need to put a date on the I-9 (or something like that), so that could be a problem. She also mentioned they would have to find a way to “finesse” the system, because they have to put a date on it... After a second day at the office dealing with this, they finally said they were going to talk to their supervisor to see how they could “deal with it” and get back to me. But, I am afraid they will come back saying I cannot start working until I have my green card in hand. That doesn’t seem right 😥… Any advice here? Thanks in advance for your help. After they get in touch with me, I plan on sending them this too: https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/temporary-i-551-stamps-and-mrivs I do not know what else to do. Thanks again.

You're amazing, @Lil bear. Thanks for all your help. I selected that option and will come back on Monday with what you said... Last question and I will leave you be (I promise). I am afraid they will ask me for my I-94 again on Monday, and I cannot retrieve it. They may want info on when I last entered the country. How can I solve that issue? Thanks a million again.
-
Thank you for your help, @Lil bear! Couple of last questions regarding this if you don't mind me asking: 1. Won't I have a I-94 then? 2. My employer, as part of the I-9 Compliance, is asking me to fill another form, in which they ask me for my "Alien Registration Number/USCIS Number" (see attached). I selected the "Alien number" option from the drop down menu, and then I typed the 8-digit Registration Number that appears on my visa, but then this error comes up: "Alien number must be a 9-digit number.". I even entered the letter "A" before the number. What am I doing wrong? Thanks again for your patience

@Lil bear, they asked me for it at my institution for employment purposes (to fill out an I-9). However, when I read the List A (list of acceptable) documents I should provide, one of them says: "Foreign passport that contains a temporary I-551 stamp or temporary I-551 printed notation on a machine readable immigrant visa". So, the VISA stamped in my passport should suffice? They did ask me for my I-94... And sent me home (they said something about waiting for the actual green card, but that can take months). I am confused. Thanks for your help in advance
