  3. 20 May Shipped. Just filling in the remaining events in case someone else is weighing expedited vs routine.

  5. I'm assuming she doesn't even have an ITIN so he's missing out on tax deductions.
  6. No, he's not the biological son of the USC.
  7. One of our good friends in the Philippines was a former Merchant Marine who had married a Filipina with a son. They were married 10 years before he passed away and that was about 5 years ago. Maybe just before covid. Now, I know it's too late for her to get a widow's visa and I don't know if she'd want that anyway. She does qualify for SS spousal benefits though, but SS won't send benefits to the Philippines unless she is a US citizen or has at least been in the US 5 years or more. I don't believe he adopted the son who is 22 now. The Merchant Marine pension stopped when he died. Is there any kind of visa she or the son might qualify for or any other benefit I may be missing?
  8. Actually, what I was wondering was if they actually sent updates based on the email on the DS-11 or if you had to go get it yourself. However, I just got a notification. 21 April Oath 22 April Routine Passport applied for at the PO. 25 April received notification of receipt.
  9. Did they email you notices or did you have to request status?
  10. No card for me. I requested the large book which I recommend for everyone. There was a time they would add pages for free but now the charge for that is so high, many opt to renew early. Just might save hassle down the road.
  11. The address where you want the passport sent is on the DS-11 which doesn't have to match what USCIS has. My wife's certificate is on the way to DoS with her passport application. It is supposed to be returned a week or 2 after the passport.
  12. So, finally through the Oath ceremony yesterday and today status change to: "On April 22, 2025, we issued your Certificate of Naturalization for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, Receipt Number xxxxxxxxxx. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address." Can anyone give a good reason to keep my address current with USCIS?
  13. Yes, but the Cert of Citz is listed under proof of ID and under proof of Citz. It's like when filing a W-7 you have to prove ID and citz but a Passport takes care of both.
  14. Odd that it's listed under both requirements.
  15. Looks like all we need is: 1. $160 check to USDoS 2. $50 to USPS for app acceptance and Photo 3. Printed DS-11 separate pages 5-6 unsigned. 4. Cert of Citz original and 1 copy. Is that it? It looks like the Cert of Citz covers both Citz and ID. Is that correct?
  16. Thanks this. The GE was something I hadn't thought of for updating. So, one more step after she gets her passport.
  17. Ok, sorry. I figured people finishing up their citizenship might have the most recent experience. Thanks for the move.
  18. About how long are passports taking now? Anyone with recent experience? Our son's came back pretty fast last year, less than a month I think. But how much of a background check can you do on a 3 month old.
  19. I'd like to bring my MIL over for a visit and the correct method would be to get her a B-2 but that was already denied once and the prognosis for success on future attempts isn't great. So, I'm thinking about doing an i-130 but wondering how long that takes for a parent? Also, does that take longer depending on the country?
  20. Yes, probably less than 24 hours. App, bio reuse, interview scheduled. Just waiting on the oath but that was delayed because we moved.
  21. Why do you keep agreeing with me as if we were arguing?
  22. The key word here is "may"
  23. Exactly what I said. The stance is that they neither allow nor disallow dual citizenship. They don't recommend it.
