    Huge congratulations! I'm sure you are immensely happy right now! As an update, I interviewed early Feb 2023, sent in docs March 2023 and still have not had any updates whatsoever, other than the occasional update on the tracker. All of these updates corresponded to generic email responses I would get after emailing for updates though.

    Glad you said this,because I was also under the assumption that this would constitute fraud. Hence,why my spouse and I went through the CR-1/IR-1 process. Take heed fellow readers and keep following the rules (and unfortunately waiting a massively line time).

    To be honest I didn't even get a stamp the last time I entered US, but I'm assuming it would be B2 as the few other times I've gotten a stamp it's said that. Just frustrating to hear that I maybe could have just showed up in the USA 2 years ago, filed a change of status and have already been working and living with my spouse there over the past year. Instead, I (and many people here) have chosen to go the CR-1 or IR-1 route because we wanted to be honest and forthright with our intentions, and yet we are shuffled off to the side and delayed upon delayed by the bureaucratic processes - even when we have proven we would be valuable citizens to the USA (no criminal record, valuable skills). We are separated from our family cruelly and unjustly, and absolutely nothing is being done about it. If anything, the delays are now getting longer. Makes you wonder if it wouldn't be better to just show up and say "hey I want a new status" and avoid all of this bureaucratic BS.

    The most recent time I crossed into the USA, the border control officer mentioned that I could just stay in the USA and adjust my status (he supposedly did this with his wife, who was born outside the USA). Of course, I would prefer to go through the way I have set out to do already as it means I can continue to work here in Canada while I am present in the country - but does anyone have any experience with that process? It seems (according to the BCO) that the process is currently only taking a few months to get status adjusted. Pros seem to be that the process might be faster. Cons being you cannot leave the country and would be unable to work/potentially causes even further delays since you are essentially abandoning this process.

    Does anyone actually know what they are required to do on their end once we send them our DS5535? I.E. when we send then our 15 year travel/work,etc. history,are they having to contact every single country and place we went to/worked at/lived in?

    How are people who submitted their DS5355 in Feb/Mar 2023 doing right now? I don't have any word yet (a few updates but I'm thinking it was someone opening my file when I emailed asking about progress). Curious to see if anyone has been given any kind of notices without having filed a WOM. Stay strong!

    To make matters worse, my friend just got engaged to a girl from South East Asia. She barely speaks English and has no formal training of any kind and they got accepted in under a year. This system is absolutely broken when an uneducated ESL speaker can get in before a university educated native English speaker. Feeling super (removed) off today.

    Anyone try emailing the consulate and mentioning you intend to file a WOM? Seems like such a shitty way to start a life in a country by basically having to file legal proceedings against them, but as others have mentioned it seems like the only way to actually get someone to do something.

    Crazy how some people get so many updates. I had my interview Feb 1, 2023 Filed DS-5535 on March 2, 2023 My last update of any kind was almost 3 months ago - Mar 17, 2023 Literally no criminal charges and they're not even looking at my damn application. Super frustrating

    Congratulations on that progress! Which email address by chance did you email in order to get an update? I've been thinking of trying to follow up with someone... I submitted my DS-5355 on March 2nd, 2023 (interview was Feb 1, 2023) and have yet to hear back (it's been 88 days today since submitting). On the CEAC website which provides updates on your case, the 'Case Last Updated' date is Mar 17-2023, so I doubt they've finished any of the processes yet.

    I travelled to visit my spouse in USA. I'd suggest not hiding anything if asked/being honest about everything, and obviously make sure to stay within the appropriate timeline (no more than 6 months in USA in a 12 month period) and you should be OK. Ultimately, it is up to the border agent to decide though, so I purposefully packed light, had my existing work contract and tenant agreement ready just in case too.

    Thank you for posting that link! You were correct - it still says Refused. However, it lists the most recent update as being March 17th, 2023. Given that I sent the required document on March 2nd, 2023 - perhaps this is evidence that at the very least it has been received?

    So as far as I can see (unless I'm not looking in right spot), I do not see the word 'Status' anywhere on my CEAC profile. I do see: YOUR CASE IS CURRENTLY AT: MONTREAL Is this the right area to be looking (in the top right of the main page)?

    Hi all, just an update on our application. I had my visa interview on February 1st, 2023 and received a 221(g) refusal letter. I had to email a few weeks later to inquire what info I would need, and I ended up submitting all required info on March 2nd, 2023. Today, I wrote to Montreal at their embassy email (montreal-iv-dv@state.gov) to inquire whether my application was received. Beyond asking Montreal through email, is there any other way for us to keep informed of where our application currently stands? I logged into the CEAC website but the only update really was they stated our application was at the Montreal embassy. Will continue to keep everyone posted and best of luck to everyone on a speedy, successful application!
