  1. There's a huge number of N400s still to be processed but it seems like the goal is to make it as close to zero as possible... One can only hope that in a few months when the numbers are down this type of effort is used for other forms!
  2. Hello everyone, I wasn't hopeful my I-90 would be approved as I have filed for I-751 in January - some stories here at VJ where I-90 is denied after ROC. BUT! I got a notification today that my card is being produced!! I did reach out to my state rep back in Nov and got an answer mid Dec, which I think helped both me getting an I-551 stamp and this I-90 process move forward. So while it sucked that I had to cancel my family visit and honeymoon last year, at least now I have a 36 months extension and a physical card to show. Maybe soon enough I'll get 48 month extension too, however I'm gonna apply for citizenship as soon as possible so it's all good. It worked out somewhat at the end!!! Post that mentions I-90 denied:
  3. I'm sorry this is how your case turned out to be OP. Unfortunately seems like what was said in this thread was true - agents didn't know much/made mistakes and now your wife has been accruing unlawful presence since May 2021. I don't have advice for you besides the quote from OldUser above. Please consult a lawyer asap!
  4. Yes? I waited 4 months to get one and was difficult and stressful so quite aware you can't "just get a stamp". It is still good advice for OP.
  5. He has the wrong green card, keeping it and using it knowing it was incorrect does not bode well for "good moral character" needed for N-400... I'd follow @mindthegap advice and try for a stamp - in a best case scenario you get the stamp with the validity of your I-751 extension letter which might even be bumped to 48 months if you can wait for the new one. If you don't plan to change jobs or travel internationally maybe don't bother. But I would not make use of a erroneous GC knowingly.
  6. Received 1/17 and got my NOA today with 36 months extension. Now I need to figure out that does that even mean to me in particular - I do not have my conditional green card only ADIT stamp valid through this year. Off I go to study immigration...
  7. I have used Delta to fly back to the US with a boarding foil and it went ok - I was sent to secondary inspection in TX but just made to wait 45 min before being send out with no questions. I wonder if ADIT stamps looked like boarding foils and also had the explicit language they do - something to the tune of "This is a lawful permanent resident and carriers can transport them wirhout penalties" don't exactly remember the words - we would all have an easier time traveling internationally. Unfortunately extension letters can't fit neatly into your passport, having copies of CBP guide and acceptable documents it's the best one can do.
  8. Received 1/17 and check cashed 1/23. Hoping for that 36 months letter now. I'd like to have my timeline as a signature, could someone please tell me how to do that?
  9. You know maybe those cases will end up being bona fide marriages by the time USCIS gets to process their file! 🤣
  10. Hope your employer re read the instructions and didn't give you more trouble @nj5b Currently dealing with this and even though I quoted the I-9 instructions I was still told to update my green card when I got "my new one". Clearly regular people don't know that the transition from conditional to 10 year GC takes years! In my case I got the ADIT stamp and soon an unrestricted SSN but still I'm pushing back on any documentation check for sake of following proper procedure. It's their job!
  11. I would not say constant misunderstanding and bureaucratic hell but yes, in a lot of times you will have to correct that "Maria" isn't a middle name. Haven't encounter the adding of hyphens myself but I believe it. I have one name and two surnames like "Jane Doe Smith" and have found multiple forms filled by others with "Doe" as my middle name, which is wrong. Sometimes, forms are not long enough for names like ours, which can also be frustrating. In government forms that are truly important I have not had issues as most of those you are the one providing the information - for example IRS tax filing or SSN application. In person services will often ask to confirm if everything is correct and you can check and make corrections on the spot. Your passport would also have the correct designation, few state ID I have seen too. As long as those important documents are correct, everything else is secondary apart from personal preference. I don't really care my name gets classified wrong on my Amazon account or whatever but that's just me. I also go by "Jame Smith" only, omitting one surname for simplicity and that is something that has to be reported to USCIS when filing I-485/I-751/N-400, something to keep in mind.
  12. @bcrew13 any updates? After I contacted my congress rep it took over a month but they got back to me and around the 4 month mark I got the famous ADIT stamp.
  13. Well it is to me, unlike AOS I do not need anything from USCIS until my extension letters expires (whenever that comes) so no need to be checking my case online every other day. Sent and forget it. With AOS I was counting days until EAD/AP or the interview, now it's see you in two years!
  14. For future searches on this forum - I received communication from state rep mid December asking if I had my issue solved. Wrote back that no, still no appointment from USCIS and I already lost my international trip. Two weeks later I got an appointment from USCIS in less than 2 days. Got my stamp for one year, which I already know not to plan travel around the expiration date as I don't believe I can get a timely stamp. Officer said that if I had already filed for ROC and had my extension letter of two years, I would be given a two year stamp. I wasn't eligible to apply until this week, so moot point for me.
  15. Joining this thread as I sent my package today. Because I will apply for citizenship as soon as I able, this feels much less stressful than AOS since it's basically sending a package into the ether - I doubt I'll see any meaningful progress before it's time for the N-400 anyways.
  16. Regardless if the K-1 goes away officially or not, this fee increase will make it dead in practice in my opinion. It's already more advantageous to start a CR-1 process if your partner is not in the US by other means, and even more so now it will be to wait until 2nd year of marriage to get to the US with a 10 year green card and bypass this ridiculous burden of filing ROC. Only green card holders via marriage have to do this process right? It is such a pain to have to file what is basically a second AOS in 2 years and be eligible for citizenship before being granted your green card. Waste of money, time and USCIS resources. I do not buy that this increase will make the process faster whatsoever.
  17. I hope you get to be there with your partner. To clarify your post, the ceremony has been scheduled for Nov 21, 2023? Almost a year from now 😱 I see your title has 2022 on it but it is already Dec 15...
  18. I'm on the same boat and there isn't much you can do. Maybe your representative will back to you but infopass appointments are being denied across the board.
  19. Lost it abroad so no - I suspect it was taken from my backpack but no proof. It was a very expensive type of hell to get a boarding foil and last minute flights to the US. And now USCIS is making it worse.
  20. Sorry by renewal I did mean i-751 ROC. I called them for over three weeks straight, and got the same email four times after a while - no appointments available and we will let you know if it ever opens up. I was at some point in three different callback lines. Tried to get an emergency callback and was also denied because the only travel that would be compelling enough is for a funeral (how nice that if someone dies they allow me to go!) or immediate job offer (I was able to get a contract extension of 5 months, so no "luck" there) or federal/state benefits denial which honestly I don't know what would mean for me as I don't have any benefits in sight. Because I had multiple callbacks and an emergency callback on file, it did not matter who picked up the phone - they always said you're in line for callback, can't do anything. Next FO is 4-5 hours away and to keep the contract I currently have I cannot miss days of work for a maybe, it would have to be certain. So yeah, I might just have to wait until I lose my job and get an offer or someone in immediate family dies.
  21. Just to close the loop on this in case other people search the forum: going in person is not allowed at my FO, state rep did not reply to my request and I lost my trip and many deposits. No end in sight for not having proof of status so if I need a drivers license or to travel domestically even it's not looking great. Renewal coming up January but does it even mean anything when the possible "extension" is granted to a now lost green card? Doubt it.
  22. This is a last attempt to help my situation - my green card was lost in August and I've filed for a new one not a month later. Now I have requested an infopass appointment because my work contract is expiring and I had plans to travel internationally but there are no appointments available. So I already paid over 500 dollars for a replacement card which takes over a year now somehow to be produced. Then to ameliorate this situation USCIS offers a stamp that it's impossible to get? That's it?? I tried for an emergency appointment and received no callback, I escalated to tier 2 and was told to wait because I am still in line. So #### me right? Doesn't matter I'm about to lose income, health insurance and thousands of dollars in a trip planned before all of this happened; doesn't matter I am a fully legal permanent resident because USCIS cannot print a piece of plastic I am now as trapped as I was before getting a green card approved - no EAD, no AP, no renewing drivers license, no nothing. I contacted my representative in a last ditch attempt but it's two weeks before the election, I am not expecting much - and if truly there are no appointments there isn't much they can do. My green card happened during the pandemic when getting a SSN appointment was basically impossible, so my SSN still has the "work authorization" mark on it. Also can't travel using that. If you can collaborate with ideas there are more than welcome. If you want to say "don't lose your green card" please have some empathy. By law I should have a green card with me at all times and the same agency does not provide one.
