We met playing World of Warcraft and once we figured out how close we lived to each other (he in Seattle and me in Victoria, BC) we decided to meet. We pretty much fell in love over our first weekend together and shortly there after knew we were going to spend the rest of our lives together. We are lucky enough to still be able to travel back and forth each weekend so we see each other pretty regulary, even though living apart is very difficult. We were married in a civil ceremony in Victoria last August and are planning our family/friends ceremony for next July .. regardless of immigration status! I will of course still maintain my Canadian residence.
We initially wanted an IR-1 visa, but this would have added about 8 months to our wait time so we decided to go with the K-3 visa. Even with the extra costs of the AOS process it is still cheaper than a trip to Montreal for us.
Now that the visa is approved I will continue to live and work in Canada until the end of June, I will then move my belongings etc .. but continue to travel back for work (I'll stay with my sis) until the end of August. At this point I should have work authorization.
