Australian expat with a wife and two daughters. A former employer moved us from Brisbane to Salt Lake City in 2011 and put us through L1 and then the Green Card process. I did not follow it all that closely as they were paying and some lawyers were managing it. I remember signing a bunch of forms, attending a few interviews and that was about it. I now realize what an amazing gift that was compared to what some here have gone through. I will be eternally thankful for that. The family and I have been on a Green Card since 2015.
I took a job in 2017 in DC with one of the largest automakers. It became more and more clear to me that my future belonged in the US and not back in Australia. My kids, now 14 and 11, have been in the US since they were 5 and 2. I decided to apply for naturalization in late March, 2020 and have my interview in Baltimore in mid-December.
