Alright, I'll answer No. Thank you.
-
Never done taxes in my life so I need to confirm this. I received a W8-BEN from Bank of America to fill out and never sent it back. (Changing to another bank soon is my reason.) My answer should remain "No" because W8 is not the same as Tax Return, is it?
-
Complete question: "Have you EVER not filed a Federal, State, or local tax return since you became a Lawful Permanent Resident?" Context: - Never worked after becoming an LPR. - Still no work as of now. - Received no doc. regarding taxes (Except the W8-BEN from a Bank.) ... Should I answer No? And if I answer no, do I need to provide any explanation / proof?

One of the requirements is a cert. of marriage. What if I'm single and never married, do I still need to get a paper to prove this? If so, what's the name of the document?

Tax Withholding (W8BEN from BofA)
Jake77 replied to Jake77's topic in Tax & Finances During US Immigration
When I open a new account with another bank, willnthe new bank send me another W8? -
Yes, I'm an LPR. Long story short: I'll open another account with another bank (reason is related to my work). Question: If I were to not send this W8 back to BofA (because I'm opening a new account), would the IRS reprimand me / give me a bad record on their system?

Filling out W8BEN from Bank of America. The form is asking me for my FTIN. - I never worked in the Philippines. - HS graduate. No business or property to my name. - No experience with taxes whatsoever. As far as I know I never had a Tax Identifying Number in the PH. .... There are 3 checkboxes. 1. I am not legally required to have a tax number from my country of residence. 2. My country of residence does not issue tax numbers. 3. Not provided. .... Which one should I choose? Do I have a tax number? I don't recall having one. Do students even get taxed?

Context: - GC Holder. - Has never worked in the U.S. since I arrived. - No experience with taxes (never had to do them in my home country because I didn't work after high school / only waited for my visa.) Questions: 1. Do I REALLY have to fill this out? - I don't have a lot of money in my bank: It won't matter to me even if incomes paid to my account are withheld. (W8BEN says the bank can withhold 24% of income if I don't send my W8.) (I don't work yet. There is nothing to withhold.) (I will be switching banks when I start working. Does this W8 from BofA even matter?) - I will be switching to another bank when I enter Boot Camp. (As of now I'm using Bank of America. The Marines offer people in Boot Camp a chance to open an account with 2 other banks.) If my new bank in Training makes me fill out another W-8 that's fine . . . but do I have to send one to Bank of America RIGHT NOW when I'm about to switch banks anyway? 2. Will I get a negative record on the IRS system or whatever if I don't send this to Bank of America?

First time flying abroad. At my final destination, when waiting at the baggage carousel, how long would it take for my baggage to show up on average? And, how long will the bags on the carousel stay for before they take them somewhere else? I'm worried I might miss my bag. ... Any tips in navigating the airports?

Yes, I have my CFO QR code on my phone and a printed copy of it as well. Aside from eTravel and Traze, is there something else I gotta do? Or, am I good to go? .... When I arrive in the US, do you know what documents I gotta present? (Passport / visa, medical record, supporting docs for IR2 ... ) .... i appreciate your help a lot. Thank you for giving me detailed answers.

To mods: Decided to post a separate thread because I need answers now, sorry. Merge with "Korean Visa Needed" if separate post's still not allowed. .... Quick questions regarding my flight this Sabado. Are these the only things I have to do before my flight? Or is there SOMETHING MISSING IN THE LIST? LET ME KNOW IF THERE IS. - eTravel. - Tieza (tax / pay in the airport). - Check in (offline / in the airport). ....... 1. Tieza (Tax) ---> Check In. - Is this the right order of procedure? Or, do I have to check in first before paying my tax. - I'm not sure if I've already paid my tax with my flight ticket ... so I'm thinking I should check in first so they can at least let me know if I have already paid my tax (to avoid paying twice). ________ 2. Am I required to sign up / use Traze (tracking app)? Or, is this optional? _______ 3. eHDC (Electronic Health Declaration Form) is the same as eTravel? ______ 4. Departure Card ... can only be received at the airport before going through immigration? Meaning, this can't be filled out online? .... Many thanks.

When I arrive in Korea for a layover. Are there forms I have to fill out / things (taxes, etc..) I have to pay before my next flight?
-
Meant to say LAYover

Called Korean Air but couldn't get through. Flight: Manila > Incheon > LAX I have: - PH Passport. - US Immigrant Visa. - 1 Korean Air ticket. - 2:30-hour stopover in Korea. I don't want to go outside the airport when I get to Korea. .......... Do I need to get my baggage again and check it in at the Incheon Airport? ... (Don't have KR visa; can't go through immigration to collect baggage.) Or, would it be possible for my baggage to be sent directly to my final destination (LAX, US)?
-
Yes. And, from the first date at SLEC. Medical expiration will match your visa's expiration on the passport too.
-
So long as your I-130 was sent before your 21th birthday, you'll be fine. Mine was changed back to IR2 during the interview itself - the officer will decide.
-
I'm planning to move to the US 2 weeks before my immigrant visa and medical expire. (IR2, son of a US citizen.) If I get in the US while my visa is still valid but my visa expires before my Green Card arrives (already in the US), would this be a problem? I have already paid the Immigration Fee for my Green Card even before departure.

Update: Got my PDOS done today. Passport was not considered as "1 valid ID." Had to show the guard my Postal ID along with passport and printed barcode to get in.

I am now trying to get a slot. In the form they have, there's a question asking: "How are you related to your sponsor?" My sponsor is my father. There're two options for me in the answers list: Son / Parent. Now, from what I understand, I think I should answer "Son" here. But, I visited another thread: There was a parent processing their kid's CFO and they ended up answering with "Parent." If it was the kid's CFO profile, shouldn't they have picked "Son" as well? I'm trying to make sure I pick the right answer from the list.

This would have been easier to understand if they had removed the last part because passport, as an ID, is already on the list. Anyway, I thought "Confirmation of Permanent Resident" was somehow linked to Green Cards and that a "Visa Grant Page" was included in the Yellow Packet they used to send.
-
I just got my US visa (IR2). 1. Requirement No. 4 --- what doc. do I show? ... I don't have a Green Card yet. ... I don't know what the Visa Grant Page looks like. (PS: no yellow packet). ... And, there's no contract because I have an IR visa. 2. One valid ID? ... What IDs do they accept? (I only have 2 IDs aside my passport: NBI and a Postal ID.) 3. Duration of the seminar? And, is it the same for in-person and online?

No Yellow Packet + A-Number?
Jake77 replied to Jake77's topic in Bringing Family Members of US Citizens to America
Immigrant fee PDF says the Alien Number starts with "A." Google images pointing to Alien Number in visas don't start with "A." I'm referring to the Registration Number in US visas ... No letters - only numbers. -
They tried calling me on multiple occasions but I missed all calls because I would always leave my phone at home. So, in the end, they had to physically mail, through LBC, the 221g requesting my passport. If I remember correctly, they'd probably contact you by phone within a week of receiving your result. Also, they tend to process DNA cases on Wednesdays it seems like - don't know why. Note: my status remained REFUSED on CEAC even after the request for my passport was sent to me. It was only changed to ISSUED after 3 or so days of the Embassy receiving my passport.
