  1. Tucker Takes New Role On ‘The View’ CELEBS·Apr 24, 2023 · BabylonBee.com NEW YORK, NY — As part of a plan to broaden its audience, the long-running daytime talk show The View has announced former Fox News host Tucker Carlson will be joining the program's panel. Producers hope Carlson's presence will both draw new viewers and educate current cast members. "Tucker's going to be a great addition," said Executive Producer Brian Teta. "Not only will we reap the benefits of bringing in a more politically conservative audience but our other co-hosts will benefit from hearing new political perspectives! Win-win!" Early test footage shows Carlson surrounded by laughing women looking perplexed, apparently shocked by a dumb thing Joy Behar said. 2. Just in case, I will add a bit more on keeping your case open at NVC. Regardless of paying the fees, you need to have activity in your NVC account within every 12 month window or risk having your case closed. All you have to do is log in once in a while to keep it open. The window resets every time you log in. Given the timeline you mentioned, you may not need to worry about this, but keep it in mind. I have been delaying at NVC since October 2021. I went ahead and paid the fees. You can just hold back documents if you like. We are finally moving forward and I will probably submit the NVC docs in the next week or two. Once that is ready, I may move into the timing / postponing the interview phase. I am trying to work with school schedules. For the CRBA, I would get in touch with the embassy right now (or maybe just their website) to make sure you have the correct documents right after the baby is born. The baby can be a USC as soon as he is ready for his CRBA interview. 👶You will apply for his U.S. passport at the same time as the CRBA. I know about CRBAs in the Philippines but it might be slightly different in Taiwan.
  3. "Newsom also hinted at the recent debate around San Francisco crime, noting the city has a violent crime rate lower than comparable cities, but also said more must be done to address “public safety concerns, especially the fentanyl crisis.”" Violent crime should go down when you let criminals have everything they need. Walk in stores and leave without anybody laying a hand on them. Downgrade felonies to misdemeanors or no charges at all. Let criminals walk with no bail. Great strategy! No need for violence from the normal criminals. All that is left is the random unprovoked crazy violent attacks from drugged out mental cases. After all the chain stores have moved out the only stores left will be small businesses with owners who will not put up with criminals in their stores, and then there will be violence.
  4. They are considering adding Kamala Harris' laugh as #9. U.S. — The American Medical Association has officially added "The View" to its pain scale to help patients better understand what is meant by the term "worst pain possible." "In that case, I guess my pain is a nine," said trauma patient Bill Reynolds, whose femur was currently lodged in his own spleen. "Please change the channel." With "The View" as a comparison, the pain rating of horrific injuries has fallen dramatically. "Sure, my skull is shattered - but that seems about half as bad as watching 'The View', so I'll go with a five," said car wreck survivor Glenn Higgins. "In retrospect, I really oversold how bad it hurt when my arm got caught in that wood-chipper. That was more like an eight." 5. Do you have her air ticket yet? Not sure where she is but EVA flies from Clark now, or Manila, to Taipei then Houston. It was the cheapest when I was shopping a few months ago but has gone up. Only problem is 8 hour layover in Taipei. A friend is flying EVA today Clark-Taipei-Seattle and it was only 750 USD. He is on his 9 hour layover right now.
  6. I'm a member of Filipinos of San Antonio FB group. We hope to move there this year. They are having get- togethers every few weeks.
  7. Well, Only In Da Philippines! Went to Olongapo NBI with appointment for AM. No line outside. Internet is down and they don't expect Globe to restore it until next week. Come back next week. Of course they will have a huge backlog now. Might look for another office not too far away.
  8. If you arrive too early you will have to sit outside the compound next to the busy street. There are some concrete benches out there usually filled with people waiting to go in or waiting for others who are inside. And lots of hawkers selling goods and services. This is a reason not to go too early. When you are closer to your time, they will let you inside the compound where they have covered seating, and an organized way of letting people into the building. If it works for you, there are some AirBnbs in a building right across the street that are very convenient for an early appointment. Some hotels too, a few steps further.
  9. Thanks, great advice, just what we needed. We are going to NBI in the morning.
  10. My wife just made an appointment for NBI clearance. I want to make sure we get it all done properly, as far as her names. In the online sign up process, it asks for your maiden name to be the main name. Then it asks for your husbands surname. My wife was married before so she has had 3 surnames. Do we need to request that the NBI clearance covers all the surnames? I recall some discussions on this, but it was years ago, before the online process started. When she goes to NBI, does she request coverage of all the names? In her U.S. visa documents, I detailed her name changes. Any tips are appreciated.
  11. Another option you will have after filing all the visa paperwork is to request an expedite. One of the reasons that they might approve an expedite is if you are having to pay the costs of maintaining two residences, and it sounded like that might be your case. I used to do some trout fishing up in the Bridgeport area. Beautiful area! They might still have snow in the mountains when you get there, after all the heavy snow this year. I skied Lake Tahoe on July 4th one year!
  12. @dle3452 Not sure where you are, but the embassy has outreaches where you can get notary services and other services. I did my "Affidavit in lieu of Certificate of Legal Capacity to Contract Marriage For American Citizens" at an outreach, in 2015. They provide the form and the cost is $50. As other said, maybe you don't need the U.S. notary anymore, but I wanted to mention it. There is an outreach in Iloilo this week. https://ph.usembassy.gov/message-for-u-s-citizens-remote-services-in-iloilo-city-on-april-14-2023/ The U.S. Embassy’s American Citizen Services (ACS) team will visit Iloilo City on April 14 to provide services to U.S. citizens including: Notary services, Acceptance of Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) applications, and Acceptance of U.S. passport applications. Please note that many passport renewals can be submitted by mail—visit https://ph.usembassy.gov/passports/ for details. While all applicants are welcome to attend, personal appearances are only required for: Applications by minors under age 18 (both parents must also appear, if possible), Replacement of lost or stolen passports, First-time passport applications, or the first application after age 16, and Applications to renew a passport issued more than 15 years ago. The Embassy has received confirmation that the Philippines Bureau of Immigration will attend this event.
  13. This has been discussed many times but I never saw an official answer to it. I contacted NVC, told them our situation (I-130 approved, but need to delay for a year or two due to shipping costs, housing costs, etc.) and asked what is the proper way to postpone our case at NVC. This is their answer. Passing it along. Dear Sir/Madam: Thank you for contacting the National Visa Center (NVC). To keep your case active, do not let more than one year go by without contacting the NVC. The easiest way to keep your case active is to access the Consular Electronic Center (CEAC) at https://ceac.state.gov/iv. Every time you go into your CEAC account, it will update the last contact date. Regards, Romeo | Inquiry Management Department of State CA/VO/DO/NVC LDRM | Lockwood Hills | Contractor DOS - National Visa Center So, it appears: - No need to call - No need to upload a document Just login. Reminder: The DS 260 does need to be submitted within 1 year Update below ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I finally had some time and wrote up a clear (hopefully) summary, perhaps for a pinned post. If you want to ask the admins and they agree to pin it, I will make a new topic with it. Just my way of giving a bit back to VJ, with the help of Family! Proposal for pinned post Topic: Need to delay your case at NVC? Here is the BEST way! After my wife and stepdaughter were approved by USCIS, we received the welcome letters from NVC. We later realized that we are going to have to postpone getting the visas and moving to the U.S. The delay might be one year, two years, or longer. We don’t want to lose the fees we paid and start all over, so we are delaying. I asked here on VJ about how to delay and got good advice from several members. I also asked NVC via the AskNVC web portal. The advice can be slightly confusing, so I am sharing what I have learned. Please note: This only applies to cases that are at NVC. After your case goes to the embassy, this no longer applies. Facts: NVC will keep your case open indefinitely if you contact them once a year. NVC has been known to mistakenly close cases even though there was contact within the required window. It is up to you to prove that you contacted them by providing contact evidence. Regardless of delaying, your DS 260 must be submitted to NVC within one year of your NVC welcome letter. There are three options to contact NVC and keep your delayed case open.By phone. Downsides: Long waits, might be expensive, and you have no paper trail of your contact. Log into your CEAC account. Downsides: This does not work for cases that were submitted by mail, and you have no paper trail of your contact. Use the AskNVC web portal. Only a simple message is required, such as “I need more time for our case. This is my record of annual NVC contact.” Upside: You will receive an immediate automated e-mail record of your contact with NVC including all the communication detail. In the e-mail, it states: “Please retain this email as a record of your contact with NVC”. AskNVC is the BEST option. Just logging into your CEAC account does not provide the safety of having a paper trail of your contact. Logging in does not work for non-electronic cases filed by mail. Keep your NVC automated responses and perhaps keep a tickler file to remind you when to send another annual contact at AskNVC. AskNVC: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/ask-nvc.html I hope this information will help others who need to safely delay their cases at NVC.
  14. I didn't want to hijack the other thread. There seems to be information that you can get NBI with AKA online. Is that correct? Or only for a renewal?
