Keeping case open at NVC (split)
seekingthetruth replied to M+L's topic in National Visa Center (Dept of State)
At the time I uploaded the DS 260, I did not know much, so I just uploaded it in order to have some activity. Later, I uploaded some things, then deleted them, for some activity. They won't do anything with anything until you do the submission. Your second post was confirmed by an e-mail to NVC. A login is apparently sufficient. I keep a "login log" and check it once in a while. -
Yes, still on hold. I just sold my house here in the Philippines and bought another. It will be at least 2 more years on hold. If things don't get better in the U.S., it could be forever. As mentioned, I have not found any cases where cases at NVC were on hold for 5+ years. I see no reason why they would cancel a case unless there is a specific rules about it. I think keeping the case open by logging is rather automated, without human intervention.

Strange, seems to be different by country. My wife and step-daughter never had fingerprints for their tourist visas. My wife did the interview waiver renewal last year via Manila embassy. These are the requirements there. Eligibility Criteria for Interview Waiver Applicants: I have a previous B1/B2 visa that I wish to renew; My prior visa was valid for ten (10) years; My prior visa is still valid or has expired within the last 48 months; I have in my possession my passport with my previous visa from the same visa category for which I now wish to apply; My name, date of birth, and gender on my last visa are the same (If there is name change due to marriage or annulment, I can provide documentary proof); ** My most recent visa was issued on or after my 14th birthday; *** The last time I applied for a visa it was approved; I have not requested an extension or change of status through USCIS.

Read more details on the embassy website. https://ec.usembassy.gov/visas/nonimmigrant-visas/ We are pleased to announce the reactivation of the interview waiver process for B1/B2 visa renewals on April 4, 2022. An applicant’s eligibility for interview waiver renewal will be determined during the electronic visa application process. In general, to be eligible for interview waiver processing: You must be renewing a B1/B2 visa issued in Ecuador that is either still current or expired within the past 48 months, and; You are an Ecuadorian citizen or permanent resident of Ecuador and are physically present in Ecuador, and; You were fingerprinted (10 prints) when your last B1/B2 visa was issued, and; Your previous B1/B2 visa was not lost, stolen, or revoked, and; Your most recent B1/B2 visa application was not refused, and; Other eligibility requirements may apply.

@John & Rose @top_secret Guys, I'm trying to give some Philippine expat guys on another forum, some valid information on the Utah Online marriage as it relates to the Philippines. There are a couple of guys who insist the marriage will not be valid for the Philippines. One called the SFO embassy and was given a speech about it not being valid. Other said it is valid, including one who called the the Vancouver embassy. What is the bottom line currently? Is the Utah online marriage valid for some things but not others? E.g. valid for getting ROM? Valid for spouse to get 13a visa for PH? Valid for U.S. Immigration? Appreciate your time!

Manhunt for Danelo Cavalcante
seekingthetruth replied to yuna628's topic in Current Events and Hot Social Topics
I had not paid attention either. Apparently he is still on the run. Most reports did not give details on his history. Ilegal alien who is wanted for murder in Brazil. Escaped to the U.S. via Puerto Rico. I could not find out what year. I thought Majorkas said we have operational control of the borders? How many more like him have entered the U.S.? CNN says "Cavalcante is a Brazil native" and that is it, even though their article is titled "What we know about Pennsylvania prison escapee Danelo Cavalcante". He is 5 feet tall 120 lbs. Perhaps that contributed to his escape. https://edition.cnn.com/2023/09/05/us/pennsylvania-escaped-inmate-danelo-cavalcante/index.html -

Primary Cause Of Global Warming Found To Be Massive Dumpster Fire Burning At 1600 Pennsylvania Ave Washington DC WORLD·Sep 1, 2022 · BabylonBee.com Click here to view this article with reduced ads. WASHINGTON, DC — The world's top climate change scientists were shocked by the recent discovery that the leading cause of global warming is actually an enormous, ongoing dumpster fire located at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. "For decades, we just assumed that methane-producing animals, deforestation, and the burning of fossil fuels were combining to cause the warming of our planet," said Dr. Curt Schampers, Chief Climate Scientist at the Greta Thunberg Institute in Stockholm. The new rules have been suspended. JUSTICE Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla has ordered the suspension of the implementation of the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking's (IACAT) revised guidelines for outbound Filipino travelers following concerns raised by senators and to "address the importance of transparency and public consultation." JUSTICE Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla JUSTICE Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla © Provided by The Manila Times In a statement issued on Thursday, the Department of Justice (DoJ) said Remulla "deemed it necessary to thoroughly clarify the issues surrounding the revised guidelines to both the senators and the public." It said the DoJ "acknowledges the vital role of our esteemed senators as representatives of the people, entrusted with safeguarding the rights and welfare of our citizens. It is our duty to address their concerns and provide them with the necessary information and clarifications." It said the revised guidelines were designed to streamline the departure procedures, ensuring a more efficient and secure process for all individuals traveling abroad. Fairly certain it is closed but who knows, they may have phone interview staff there. I drove by there a few months back and did not see a lot of cars like there used to be. The only way to know for sure is to go there, but why? Attendance to the GCP is conducted online through the Overseas Filipinos – CFO Online Registration System (OF-CORS) or on-site in Manila main office, Cebu and Davao satellite offices through the Reserve and Registration (R&R).

My opinion is that you should get the adoption process started right away if you will adopt no matter what. It may take a while.

A couple of more factors for your decision making. Your wife can collect Social Security on your account when she is at retirement age. As a resident alien, she must live in the U.S. for 5 years to qualify. When she gets citizenship that requirement goes away. Your step daughter, assuming you adopt her and she gets her citizenship, must live in the U.S. for 5 years in order to pass her U.S. Citizenship to her children.

CR1 is DQ, current wait time for interview in Manila?
seekingthetruth replied to EdwardSnowden's topic in Philippines
It should be in the detail of the ticket which you can get online. However, yes, bring the cash just in case. Most airlines flying from NAIA have it included in the ticket, but Clark flights have been slower to adopt. Edit: If you booked after June 22 it should be in the ticket. We flew domestic in late June and it must have been included because there was no booth to collect it. https://clarkinternationalairport.com/passenger-service-charge-integration/ https://clarkinternationalairport.com/passenger-service-charge-integration/ -
I-864 Asset Question
seekingthetruth replied to seekingthetruth's topic in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures
Yeah, it was 42-43 when I moved here is 2012, and I had budgeted for that. The increase up to a high of 59 was sweet. We loaded up on pesos at 58-59. Now at 56 I'm hoping it will go back to 42 the month before I leave. -
I-864 Asset Question

And you might want to do a reading refresher. I just sold my house and am excited to get going again. Friendly folks here are usually happy to give some quick info that they have in their noggins. I have seen you use the "A Student" copy / paste comment many times, and while that is good advice, it is not always an appropriate response. I will do my refresher when time allows and certainly don't need to be prodded. A few questions, keeping in mind that I have not looked at the I-864 in a while. 1. Can I show foreign currency bank statements, in this case the Philippines? We are hoping exchange rates will move in our favor before we transfer the the money to the U.S. 2. Will I need to show all assets, or just pertinent ones to fit the need? -

I-864 Asset Question
seekingthetruth replied to seekingthetruth's topic in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures
Thanks! I have a lot of U.S. non-cash and some cash assets to show but I would prefer to use just cash assets. The cash I get for the house here in Subic Bay is actually a new asset. Why? I did not own the property. It is a long term lease with the Freeport. It probably had no value for the i-864. Now I have sold / transferred the lease and the proceeds are a real cash asset. -
I just sold our house here in the Philippines so I am going to move forward with completing the NVC paperwork for my wife and step-daughter. My income is low right now so I am going to have to show assets. A few questions, keeping in mind that I have not looked at the I-864 in a while. 1. Can I show foreign currency bank statements, in this case the Philippines? We are hoping exchange rates will move in our favor before we transfer the the money to the U.S. 2.
