Hello all! We are adjusting the status of my Ukrainian in-laws. They arrived on a visit and were planning to go back to Ukraine but i have convinced them to stay until the war is sorted out. We are going the Adjustment of status route. The problem is, my mother-in-law was born in Russia and does not have her birth certificate (lost). Obviously going to Russia to get a copy of one is not feasible. What can be done instead of providing the birth certificate? The other options listed on the form instructions just don't seem possible (affidavits from relatives, school records, etc.). Obtaining any of this would probably require them to go back which defeats the whole purpose. She does have 2 other government issued IDs showing her DOB with her here in the U.S. Please advise! Thank you!

HELLO! JUST WANT TO START BY SAYING 10 YEARS AGO THIS WEBSITE AND FORUM WAS SUPER HELPFUL IN MY UKRAINIAN WIFE AND I GETTING MARRIED! SO NOW, I NEED HELP ONCE AGAIN! HER PARENTS OBTAINED A TOURIST/VISITOR B1/B2 VISA BEFORE THE WAR STARTED. THEY HAVE SINCE ARRIVED FOR A VISIT AND LEGITIMATELY INTENDED TO LEAVE AT THE END OF APRIL. I HAVE CONVINCED THEM TO STAY SO THAT THEY ARE SAFE, FOR NOW, AND IF THERE IS A UKRAINE TO GO BACK TO (HOPEFULLY), THEN WE CAN ADDRESS THAT THEN. MY QUESTION IS: WHAT IS THE BEST PATH FOR THIS? GENERAL ADJUSTMENT OF STATUS FOR RESIDENCY THRU MY WIFE (NOW A U.S. CITIZEN)? ADJUSTMUST FOR RESIDENCY AS REFUGEES? UNITIING FOR UKRAINE? TO THE EXPERTS OUT THERE, PLEASE ADVISE! ALL HELP IS APPRECIATED AND IF THIS SPECIFIC TOPIC HAS BEEN ADDRESSED, I APOLOGIZE! I JUST NEED TO TAKE ACTION SOON SINCE THEIR 6 MONTH STAY WOULD BE OVER IN MAY!
