  1. I agree, but her lawyer gave her the advice to stay married because otherwise her case would go to the “complicated” cases pile. That’s why I want to tell her about @Sweetdreaming experience AND to switch lawyers!
  2. Congrats! Asking for a friend who has filed for I-751 and is about to file for divorce, in your experience, do you feel like your case was impacted by the divorce?
  3. Like @jackiegringa I also got my 10 year green card recently and returned it last Thursday during my oath ceremony. Today, I got the notification by USCIS stating that my case was closed! I’m happy it’s over. Best of luck to everyone
  4. Last Thursday, August 8th, I did my combo interview which seemed more like a N-400 interview. The officer was wonderful and she greeted me with a big smile (what a difference this makes!). She said my husband was not needed at all and sent him to the general waiting room. I didn't end up bringing my 3 year old daughter after all. At the end of the interview, the officer said I wasn't approved on the spot because she needed to get ahold of my I-751 application and approve it first. A day after the interview, a piece of mail was sent with the oath ceremony time and date! I'm almost done with USCIS.
  5. I switched addresses back in 2022 and reported the change of address online. I had no issues getting my mail from USCIS. Congrats on the new house!
  6. Got the letter notification yesterday of my N400 interview appointment for August 8th!! Finally! It will be 6 months from the N400 was submitted to interview date. It will likely be a combo interview. Also, the interview date is 3 weeks before my due date (pregnant). I'm hoping I can make it to at least Aug 8, otherwise, I don't want to have to re-schedule and who knows when would I get the appointment. My husband was thinking of bringing our 3 year old to the appointment as it's not in our town, I'm just afraid the officer would get upset if she's not behaving. Also, I'm glad I could finally log into VisaJourney as I haven't been able to do it from my phone for months!
  7. I also want to send my paperwork by the end of this month although I’m elegible to send it starting Dec 30, 2023! My local Catholic charities office said they can help me fill out the N-400 but starting in April. I’m not willing to wait if I can submit it earlier.
  8. Same here. On Tuesday 3/28 I received a second 48 month extension letter. Very random as I had received the first one in late January this year.
  9. NOA date 1/31 - Biometrics waived (received in the mail 2/5)
  10. I've read here that it's best to apply for N-400 after the Green card's 3rd anniversary because someone got their application denied but I believe the person was not in the USA all this time living with the US Citizen spouse, something like that. It had to do with the residency requirement: "if such person immediately preceding the date of filing his application for naturalization has resided continuously, after being lawfully admitted for permanent residence, within the United States for at least three years, and during the three years immediately preceding the date of filing his application has been living in marital union with the citizen spouse (except in the case of a person who has been battered or subjected to extreme cruelty by a United States citizen spouse or parent), who has been a United States citizen during all of such period, and has been physically present in the United States for periods totaling at least half of that time and has resided within the State or the district of the Service in the United States in which the applicant filed his application for at least three months." Taken from: https://uscode.house.gov/view.xhtml?req=granuleid%3AUSC-prelim-title8-section1430&num=0&edition=prelim I do want to apply to N-400 as soon as I'm eligible (90 day window) as I've lived in the USA all of this time with my US Citizen spouse.
  11. My update: Sent 01/18 Delivered via USPS (Carol Stream, IL) 01/20 Credit card charged 01/24 SMS notification 01/25 - got assigned to Vermont (EAC) NOA date 01/24 - 48 months NOA received in the mail 01/31 Will probably apply for N-400 March 2024 before my I-751 gets extended.
  12. My update: Sent 01/18 Delivered via USPS (Carol Stream, IL) 01/20 Credit card charged 01/24 Just got the SMS as I was writing this update. I got assigned to Vermont (EAC)
  13. I'm on the same boat. I finished scanning everything and adding the sticky tabs at the bottom of the pages. I need an extra large binder clip, but all of my stuff fitted in a clasp envelope. At this point I'm wondering if I even need the extra large binder clip. Good luck!
  14. Hi! I plan on sending my ROC packet this week, but have a question: is it recommended to highlight (with a yellow highlighter) both of our names for the house deed, joint account bank statements, insurance? Mostly to evidence we're both on the same documents. Also, I've been a graduate student since filing AOS, so I have my own health insurance, but nowhere in the application I mention this. Should I? Thanks!
