N-400 November 2024 Filers
MaceMk replied to dc35's topic in US Citizenship Case Filing and Progress Reports
Yes that's how I see it too. We never even thought about it, it seems natural in this case, cause at least one spouse has some ties abroad and normally they'll be spending some time there even without the spouse. -

A week apart? Even if it's for traveling and visiting family? Me and my husband have been together and been living together this whole time, however we were apart on 2 different occasions. I spent a month in Macedonia visiting my family while he stayed and worked here and another time we spent 3 weeks apart, him visiting his family in India and me mine in Macedonia again. So that would be a problem? I find it awkward that they would deny for something like that. -

This yes. That's the only logical reason I can think of too. Security and even bigger: fraud. -

Thank you! I doubt that but you never know. I do realize they schedule faster nationals of certain countries. But it's fine we came this far that's all that matters. I hope you'll get yours soon too like some others. I'm glad it's moving faster in general than other forms. Good luck! -

It's interesting how they reuse years old biometrics for some and ask others to redo them within a year. My husband had biometrics done March this year for the I751 and had to do them again yesterday for the N400. Then status changed same day that it's being actively reviewed. -

I actually had my interview at the Seattle office over 5 years ago under the 5 year rule as well and it took 10 months because I moved from Utah to Washington and had to transfer my case at the Seattle office. I was scheduled for interview in Salt Lake City 8 months after filing and after I transferred it took additional 2 months in Seattle and oath ceremony was same day. I don't think it's that slow seemed like normal processing times back then. -

Hello! Joining the thread today, after following it for the last couple of days, as we filed the citizenship application few hrs ago. We got the receipt number but nothing about reusing biometrics. We'll see if they update anything on that. Otherwise it's just another long wait (but hopefully not too long 😊). -

I think processing times for different forms have always been same throughout time regardless of the rulling party or who's president. I'm not into politics much but I can really see that it doesn't affect much legal immigration. Only slow down I've seen was during covid. I see no difference otherwise. My N400 was processed in 8 months 5 years ago when Trump was president and I see same estimate right now too. Asylum and I751 always take longer than most others -
Traveling on Extension Letter?
MaceMk replied to Derwood's topic in Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion
Me and my husband just came back from Peru and he didn't have troubles coming back to US, he has an I551 temporary stamp in his passport plus extension notice, however Peruvian immigration didn't recognize the stamp and asked for his expired green card and proof of receipt that he has a pending application with USCIS. It took them about 30-40 mins to investigate and let him enter. So if anyone from India or China with a green card in process is wondering about visiting Peru without a visa, you shouldn't have a problem just show them a proof of your status with the notice. -
Hello! I just wanted to update on the issue with the typographic error of my husband's name on his I751 receipt and extension notice. He got infopass appointment yesterday and got the I551 stamp in his passport valid for one year. It took this whole time to actually correct it in their database and get the stamp. Just on time before the GC expires, although the officer said that name being wrong doesn't matter, they can still see his A number in the system. Now he has extension for only a year 🙂

Traveling on Extension Letter?
MaceMk replied to Derwood's topic in Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion
Thanks. I also saw someone saying that about Costa Rica afterwards but still not sure about Peru. I think that's the country we'll be most interested in visiting. -
Hi! How did the trip go? Did you have any issues entering Peru with extension letter? Are immigration officials and airlines flying there familiar with this letter? I know it's an old post but it's hard to find experiences online from people going to Peru specifically, with extension letter, because they only give visa free entry for LPRs to 2 nationals ( India and China) and many others don't even need visa for there. Thanks in advance!

Traveling on Extension Letter?
MaceMk replied to Derwood's topic in Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion
Hi there! Does anyone have recent experiences entering Costa Rica or Peru with Delta or LATAM with expired green card and extension notice? Both countries require visa for Indian citizens unless they're US residents. My Indian husband's conditional GC is expiring soon but we did submit the I751 and have the notice. Now just wondering what to expect trying to travel abroad in this case. It seems like it depends on the country and airline so just looking for the countries and airlines I mentioned above. Thanks! -
I'm sorry I thought I replied but I see now it's not posted. We're not thinking about Mexico, that was just an example. Anyway, I've read about experiences about traveling with expired GC and a notice both with and without issues with various airlines, but that was from few years ago. Can't really see anything from recent years particularly last year so I can have a better understanding and know what to expect. If anyone has or read about any recent experiences in such case and share some links I would appreciate it. Thanks!
