  1. Save check is the ONLY way. There’s no manual override unfortunately. I was in agony for 2 months because of that. I tried congressperson, I tried to contact USCIS, I even tried ombudsman. I tried everything. For once, I can’t win and just have to wait for the save check to be complete. now my thought theres probably something else going on here since OP already got unrestricted SS therefore theres no issue with the save check. OP need to be proactive and ask question in this case to DMV
  2. Global is 4-6 months now i went to the rabbit hole with nexus because I’m cheapskate ( u can use global entry kiosk with nexus ) 12-14 months 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲
  3. if your SSN card has no extra word " valid for bla bla bla " that means u have unrestricted SSN card going to SSA office wont help you. because SSA office wont give you that unrestricted SSN card if ur status is not clear i will go back to DMV and talk with them. it happened to me to, and the DMV person said it's okay just wait for DHS to approve you, once the save check is clear, u will get ur DL. now my question : did ur DMV person say anything like that? they cant just said " sorry ur out of luck good bye". if you are green card holder, they will help you. you are allowed to ask " how can you help me so i will get my learner permit?" put ur A number and see what do they show : https://save.uscis.gov/save/app/client/ui/case-check
  4. Sorry I should rephrase it better in this scenario DHS who can update the status is USCIS. As u know they don’t talk to each other 🤣
  5. It’s hard to tell with GLOBAL entry or nexus because they actually do background check. Not like SSA office or DMV when they simply rely heavily to SAVE check result so that’s why is always important to get that issue ( if people even know about it ) sorted out. But since this issue is not general consensus, many people didn’t know until they hit a problem
  6. Nope. It’s DHS not doing their job. They are the only one who can update the SAVE check so other agency can see the change of status. Plastic GC won’t work if the SAVE status not updated
  7. DHS aka USCIS notoriously did this to some people (including me). They “supposed” to update automatically on SAVE check system ( that’s what government agency used to check ur status ) but from time to time, they didn’t do it. I know it stupid since they can see u have the GC. But i never need to show my GC to supermarket ( for what ????) and also doctor office ? ( for Whatt ???) the only time I showed my GC were for DMV and SSA office Have u get ur unrestricted SSN card from SSA office ? If not, go to that office, and tell them you are GC holder now and want unrestricted SSN card. You will be put on on hold misery for couple of weeks until ur SAVE check update DMV also can do it for u. Usually they will request it manually to DHS. don’t bother to call USCIS. They won’t do anything for u.
  8. U won’t get approval for i-485 if you don’t terminate ur removal proceeding. The court is higher hierarchy compare to USCIS. USCIS can’t by pass court. And administrative closed isn’t termination. It just out of the docket but not out of the court
  9. ur kids probably will receive their SSN before end of the year. ur husband can only file for 2023 tax return next year anyway and not this year. if i were u i will wait until end of the year before even think about iTIN
  10. the amount of people who said " we dont need EAD, we dont need AP" but later on they need it ASAP and cant get it quick and decide to abandon the whole thing just because they said "we dont need it" always file any benefits that you can get. better to have it but dont need it. no additional fee anyway to file EAD and AP with AOS
  11. You should be okay. If you read the screenshot, it said fiancee visa in immigrant category. And they just wanted to differentiate it with tourist visa / non immigrant. technically K1 is non immigrant visa with a path to adjust status after arrived in the US and get married before 90 days up. But in this case, ur fiance has that valid visa for the class
  12. https://jp.usembassy.gov/visas/faq-list/visa-interviews/ hope this one help. looks like its tokyo and / or naha, okinawa. not osaka
  13. have you try to "forget password". usually they will send you email to unlocked it.
  14. On the NVC CEAC home page, You should see the "Affidavit of Support (AOS)" box. Under Affidavit of Support Documents & Financial Evidence, Click on Accepted. On that next page you should be able to add either a joint sponsor or household member. Click on Joint Sponsor. Have his information ready to submit. It needs to be approved first before you can start adding documents.
  15. carry the card to where? as in daily basis ? that's a no for me. i know as LPR u need to have that card in hand all the time but what if it got lost/stolen/missing ? no one will help you to get the a new GC except urself. i dont live near the border, been living in the US almost 7 years now, just got my GC last april. never ever a police or law enforcement ask me verbally or to show government ID that shows my status here in the US. they only ask for my state ID or Driver's License. my GC is at home. i have the soft copy of the GC in my dropbox (phone) obviously i will carry that GC when i travel overseas.
  16. did u upload the joint sponsor i-864 and i-864a on the portal? because i did upload that too, dunno if make any difference. my advise always : bring everything that u have, u rather have it but dont need it. i always did (bring it all) especially if you asked the question here. never hurt to have it on hand. if he retired did he get pension, SS or something like that?
  17. @Eric MC where’s the removal proceeding case admin closed ? Is it in the same city where u lived now ? If it’s not in the same city ( as many people moved sometimes ) you really got some home work to do. 1. I’m not sure who’s who. Whoever in removal proceeding ( probably you) need to have I-130 approved ( don’t care from US parents or US son/daughter ) 2. with that I-130 approved, hire a local immigration lawyer that’s in the immigration court everyday and know everybody from OPLA to the judge. U need to motion to reopen and terminate ( in a single motion) ur removal proceeding. it can be a. Joint motion with ICE and if they ignored your motion, then ask the same lawyer to b. File directly to the court / judge 3. when removal proceeding terminated, you can file I-485 with USCIS dont do it yourself, it’s a lot of work and study and research, unless you have 5 years experience in navigate removal proceeding like me ( I still don’t know a lot of things) pls get a lawyer how to get a good immigration lawyer ? You can reach out to local immigration clinic for list of lawyers, google AILA for lawyers in ur area or whatever ur removal proceeding case is. ask around, call around. I called 70 lawyers last year within 2 months to narrow top 3 lawyer that I want to pick. Make sure that lawyer is local deportation lawyer where ur removal proceeding case should be. remember the most important thing is to terminate your removal proceeding. USCIS is like what little lamb (piece of cake) compare to court. U want to get out from the court. Better do it now before change of administration again @Family I changed my handle few months ago. @Mike E can’t keep up with my name changing (he said )
  18. generally speaking the least day you are out of status the better it is. your out of status will be forgiven because you marry USC
  19. at least 3 months minimum worth of paystubs, most people even go for 6 months worth of paystubs. and u cant do anything about ur job. u just got a job a month ago, nothing u can do about the past, all u can do is to get more evidence from now onwards
  20. U can’t opt out the name. It’s gonna be exactly like what ur passport
