  1. Did you scroll down to the middle section? That has all the specific examples you need.
  2. Oh, now I understand, you entered an online account number on the I-751 form before you mailed in your package. I didn't.
  3. @Kai G. Llewellyn odd, I used to be able to add case numbers to my USCIS online account (ex. I-130, I-485) but for some reason the website would not allow me to do the same for I-751 unless I had both the case number AND online access code. Must be some kind of transition to a new system.
  4. The only reason you would need a CPA is if you have a complicated tax situation (ex. significant foreign income or assets). Otherwise, it's extremely easy to DIY filing your own taxes with a program like TurboTax.
  5. ***Moved to subforum What Visa Do I Need - Family Based Immigration, where other similar topics are discussed***
  6. To live and work in the States, Mexican citizens need visas. Period. Beware of anyone who offers a way to get her into the US without a visa. They are smugglers and scammers. As to which visa is best for her situation, it will depend on your relationship with her (are you ready to get married?) and how soon she needs to work as a caregiver for her aunt. If you're ready to get married, the spousal visa is the best choice.
  7. So you want LIFO (Last In, First Out) to continue? It doesn't make sense, doesn't improve the USCIS experience and will only further antagonize people who waited years for their cases to be processed.
  8. My theory, based on experience working with huge government bureaucracies, is that they decided that only filings received after XXX date would be processed using their newer system. Any other unfinished cases received before XXX date would continue to be processed using the older system. A kind of reverse or negative grandfathering. I'm sure nobody considered how this decision would antagonize people who were unlucky enough to need to file during the transition between systems.
  9. @igoyougoduke you need both the case number and online access code to add the ROC case to your USCIS online account. Must be some new security feature to prevent people from adding other people's case numbers to their accounts.
  10. @mapo The problem is the embassy likes to use the words "refusal/refused" when they are unable to grant the visa YET, even if there is a chance that the visa will be granted once additional requirements are met (ex. additional documents, further TB treatment, etc). We see this from time to time on VJ. Many people see the words "refusal/refused" and automatically think all hope is lost. Not necessarily. It's when the embassy uses the term "denied" that things really get serious. Good luck with the sputum testing. As you've seen from other members' experiences, your wife may get the visa yet.
  11. I submitted a 500 page ROC packet two weeks ago. I used binder clips and rubber bands to secure everything. I did not use padding or a second envelope. I just placed the whole thing directly in a USPS box like this: https://store.usps.com/store/product/shipping-supplies/priority-mail-flat-rate-medium-box-2-P_O_FRB2#moreinfofooter My package arrived just fine. I got my extension letter 12 calendar days after mailing the package.
  12. Same here. Extension letter received 12 days after packet was mailed.
  13. I agree with @SteveInBostonI130 - the best way to find jobs is to show up in person. It opens so many more opportunities and allows you to grow your network. Once people know your work ethic and qualifications, they can refer you to even better jobs.
  14. You would most likely find good dating candidates in local groups dedicated to hobbies you already have. What do you like to do for fun in your free time? Even church groups would be a good place to meet people who share your values. If you don't have that much time to travel, international relationships simply aren't the best choice. Personal referrals from internet strangers aren't really safe, either.
  15. Congratulations on your I-130 petition approval! Immigration is a marathon, not a sprint, so it's best to be mentally prepared for a long wait. If your spouse's visa is granted earlier than expected, great! Just because someone clarifies the difference between an approved petition VS an approved visa, or says that the next steps take a long time, doesn't mean they want to spite you. They are simply giving you estimates based on past experience. If you disagree with their advice, you can review the timelines on this website, past threads from other members from the same region, even official timelines from USCIS.gov and the local US embassy where your spouse will interview.
  16. Credit card got charged today! No e-notification or NOA1 yet, though. I expect those will follow shortly.
  17. No. My package arrived at the lockbox on June 7. Based on past threads, it can take a few weeks to get NOA1. One of the reasons it's good to file relatively early in one's ROC window.
  18. Your household size for the purposes of calculating sponsorship requirements will not change even if you leave a child behind in the Philippines.
  19. It is a hard rule: https://www.uscis.gov/forms/filing-guidance/tips-for-filing-forms-by-mail All forms and supporting documents submitted must be single-sided, standard 8½ x 11 letter-size pages.
  20. To be fair, only a very small percentage of ROC applicants know about this "trick". We just happen to be on VJ, so we know about it.
  21. You could have applied for your son's SSN. He is entitled to one.
