  1. Most of it was in Sri Lanka and only 1 in Bahamas. There was an economic crisis in Sri Lanka and they are still recovering. Most of the Jewlery was bought when the currency exchange was 1 USD to Sri Lankan 170 rupees. Some of the Jewlery was bought when the currency exchange was 1 USD to 360 rupees. So when we estimate the value........what exchange rate should we even use? This is so confusing.
  2. My wife has a several 22 karat diamond encrusted jewelry that I bought her over a 4 year period....the total value would probably be around $8000 USD. She will be wearing a bracelet, bangle, and wedding ring but the rest will be in her hand purse. She has certificates of authenticity for all of the jewelry. How should we declare this to customs? Do we even need to declare it? It's personal use. When do we usually get the form to fill out?
  3. If my wife is coming alone as IR1 (I'm already in the US), which line should she go to? Visitors line???
  4. My wife has a new passport which we got last year because the old one was near expiring. Can she bring her old passport in her luggage? We like to keep it as a souvenir.
  5. Once we get the IR1 spouse visa (which I presume they print on the passport), what else is required to fly to the US besides the tickets, marriage certificate, and COVID vaccine certificate? I checked Emirates passport requirements and did not see anything specific. Are there any other documents that my wife needs to bring?
  6. Yes, we met in the Bahamas which only requires passports for most people. From USA side, there is 1 Ferry (Balearia ferry, takes about 4 hours) from Port Everglades in Florida.
  7. What color was your 221g and what were the 2 dates the case was updated on CEAC? When was your interview date? I received a 221g Yellow form and my case updated on CEAC on 04/19 and 05/13 but it still shows Refused status.
  8. Did you get a 221G during the interview? I've also emailed several times, no response.
  9. According to https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/travel/Congressional-Liaison/events/Tips_for_Congressional_Offices_with_NVC_FOR_PACKAGE.pdf Point #6: NVC researches cases and communicates with overseas embassies and USCIS when necessary. As the “middle man,” NVC cannot on its own: • Approve an expedite or transfer request • Reinstate a case • Explain the reasons for a visa denial It looks like they can based on above?
  10. Tourists and others are not required to have vaccines. Only immigrants. This is because everyone knows only immigrants can spread COVID. Science.
  11. My wife had her CR1 interview in beginning of March and received a 221G for a new police certificate report. We submitted it to the embassy the following week. There were no updates for almost a month and then suddenly threre was an update on 04/19. Again there were no updates and suddenly there was an update on 05/13.....a Saturday. Embassy is not open on Saturdays. Any idea what might be going on?
  12. For cases that receive 221g request for additional documents, once the documents have been uploaded and package handed off to the embassy, is it the same interview consular officer who reviews it? Because in my case, they said to write on the package "221g Processing Unit"....that sounds like someone from a different department is reviewing it.
  13. What about Consulate Officers? One officer having a bad day can 221g everybody and there is no review process whatsoever. We seriously need "panel reviews" where 3 people come to a unanimous decision.
  14. Asking for a friend here. They recently had their VISA interview and the CO gave a verbal approval. The CO also said no sealed envelope will be given anymore because everything is digitized and CPB will look up the application. I have not read about this anywhere. Is it accurate?
  15. My consulate is Colombo, Sri Lanka. I didn't find a form but did find an email address. I guess I have to email them instead of filling out the form.
  16. A lovely poem from husband to wife
