The CO conducting the interview does not go into many details with LGBQT cases. They are adjudicated the same way as hetro visa applications are. There primary objective is to determine if your application and relationship is indeed genuine. I doubt there is a need to separate your children from the interview.

Thank you for your reassuring response!

This will need to be addressed.  Consulate officers have been know to ask kids about how they feel about moving to live with the new partner.

I am okay with USCIS talking with my fiancée’s kid.  He wants to come live in the US with his mother and me and has even expressed he wants me to adopt him.  He is just really young and might struggle with the stigma of his mother being gay.  I don’t know how understanding the officers are about that matter is all.

  3. Hello!

I am a US citizen currently in the process of a K1 & K2 petition for my lesbian partner and her youngest child ( 7 years old) to come to CA.  My partner is not yet out to all of her three kids for fear of stressing them out further after the divorce and in light of a still homophobic Asian environment.  Should she come out to the youngest kid before the interview to avoid any shocking surprise, or can she inform the interviewer of the situation and not have him present for part of the interview that delves into our more intimate relationship?

Thank you in advance for you help.
