  1. Ah, this makes sense. Thank you so much!
  2. Hoping I can get some input here. Mainly due to the fact my lawyer hasn't been very helpful. I submitted a I-485 in June 2020 with marriage. The marriage went south quickly and then filed a I-360, which has been approved. During this time I left the country because my lawyer led me to believe I had an approved I-131. When I came back, I was told by CBP that my I-131 hadn't been approved, but I was let back in. My previous I-485 hasn't been denied yet. Though it should be since I left the country. However, my lawyer is pressing me to file a new I-485 right away, even though the previous one wasn't denied. Can I have two pending I-485 through marriage? Any suggestions as to what I can do, besides get a new lawyer 😕
  3. Argh. I see my problem now. Sorry, I was typing this late last night and early this morning. I was confused about the definition of the I-131 and I-765. You're correct the I-765 is used for reentering the country and the I-131 is for work authorization. The card that I received was only for my I-765, or my work authorization, AND not my I-131
  4. I can understand the confusion. When I received the card in August 2023, I assumed it was a combo card. This is based on the fact, I received a similar card in May 2021, and I used that card to reenter the country in August 2022. As I mentioned, the USCIS stopped producing combo cards at the end of 2022. The card I received in 2023 was simply my I-131 card, which looks like a combination card. Though it doesn't have my I-765 attached to it. When I told my lawyer I was leaving the country, she never told me that my I-765 was pending. Nor anything about me leaving the country. She didn't tell me the combination cards are no longer being produced. And this is why I'm in this situation
  5. Hey everyone! Hoping I can get some input as to my situation. I began my AoS journey in June 2020 when I married a US citizen. At that time, I filed I submitted my I-131, I-765, and I-485. Turns out he was abusive and I left and I filed for my VAWA. My I-131 and I-765 were approved on a combo card, but my I-485 was still pending. This was about March 2021. During this time I had to submit a renewal for my I-131 and I-765 since they were going to expire. I did this in November 2021. In April 2023, I finally got news my I-360 was approved. As well, I then got my I-131 and I-765 combo card around August 2023. I then went back home to visit my parents in another country. I told my lawyer about this too and they didn't mention anything. When I crossed back into the US, I got pulled into secondary. it happened before, so I wasn't too worried, since I had my I-131 and I-765 card. Well, it turns out the card I had was just my I-131 and my I-765/AP card. USCIS stopped making combo cards in late 2022. I told the CBP agent that my lawyer submitted the paperwork for both my renewals. As well, I also showed them the communication between my lawyer and me. How I requested my I-131 and I-765 to be submitted; my lawyer verified everything was submitted; and how I was going to travel. I then got let into the country on a visitor visa to "get things sorted". I contacted my lawyer about the entire situation and she said my I-765 was never approved. I get the receipt number and see it has been in processing for nearly two years (which is well outside the processing time of 8 months). All of this could have been avoided if a) my lawyer told me I wasn't allowed to travel OR b) my I-765 was approved in the processing time. From the research I've done, it seems I need to resubmit my I-485 renewal since I abandoned my AoS. I'm hoping I can avoid this. I have reached out to the Ombudsman, my senator and congressmen and I explained my situation. There has been no response as of yet. Does anyone have advice on what to do? If I do need to resubmit, does anyone have a guide that explains how to fill out the I-131, I-765, and new I-485 on my own based on an I-360? I really want to avoid using a lawyer and waste another $4000 Thank you
  6. Hi everyone! I was curious what everyone's timeline has been looking like lately. I've been stuck in a RFE loop for nearly a year now, and there hasn't seem to be any movement. Sept 2018 - Married Aug 2020 - Separated Jan 2021 - Submitted my I-360 Feb/March 2021 - Travel documents and EAD approved Sept 2021 - Submitted evidence for RFE and it wsa received Nov 2021 - Submitted an renewal for my EAD, since it will be expiring March 2022 - Evidence has been waiting to be reviewd I haven't got any notied by my EAD renewal and the evidence has been stuck in reviewing limbo for awhile now. Is this normal? I would love to hear other people's stories
