So thought I would share information I received from my IO during my interview.  In San Diego, if you request a name change, a judge must sign. Once the judge signs, they will schedule your oath appointment.  Due to COVID, they are only scheduling the oath appointments (ones that are not done same day) once a month, on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at Cabrillo National park.  Again this is only for San Diego.

    I AM A US CITIZEN!!!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

My experience was amazing! Very friendly and professional officer 👮🏻‍♂️

I got same day oath ceremony!  Decided not to change my name because I would have had to wait 3 weeks and I didn’t wanna wait. I’ll change my name in the near future in court.

Interview was easy, combo interview I-751/N400. Plexiglass was in between me and the officer. Was put under oath then I was asked basic info and my I-751 was approved. Then we went on to the N-400 and was asked

    “Who is your US Senator?”
    ”Who makes Federal Laws?”
”Who wrote the Declaration Of Independence?”
    ”How many US Senator?”
”What ocean is on the west coast of the US?”
”Name one war that happened in the 1800?”

I got all correct and we moved on to the reading and writing and I used a IPad to read and write.

    Reading was
”What do we pay to the US Government?”

    Writing was
    “We pay taxes.”

we went through the yes and no questions like

”Have you ever claimed to be a US Citizen?”
”Have you voted or registered in a election?”
    ”Have you ever worked Illegally?”
“Have you ever claimed to be a US Citizen in writing Or any other way (like on a I-9 form or government forms?)”
“Have you ever not filed taxes?”
    ”Have you ever killed someone?”

After going through the yes and no question
we went through the rest of the application and that was it I signed a paper to show all my info was correct and then he approved me. He congratulated me and escorted me to a room where the oath ceremony would be taking place.
I waited about 1 hour for the oath ceremony that was being done in the USCIS Office. Social distanced and mask wore at all times. There were 6 other people who were there waiting to be naturalized. We then did the oath of allegiance and that was it! I became a US Citizen. They gave me my certificate and made sure everything was correct on it and that’s it!

Now time to apply for US Passport and update SSN and apply for a new Driver license. Lol

I’m so excited!!!! Good luck everyone with your journey to US Citizenship! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Had my interview yesterday in San Diego @1:30 pm. After doing the necessary security measures and checking in, I waited about 20 minutes before I was called into my interview.  My interviewer brought me to his office where he had a plexiglass barrier between his side of the desk and me. Asked me to remain standing to swear me in. After that, I sat down and we began the interview. Did the civics first.
    1. What territory did the U.S buy from France in 1803?
    2. We elect the president for how many years?
    3. Who is the Commander in Chief of our military?
    4. There were 13 original states. Name 3.
    5. What is 1 thing Benjamin Franklin is know for?
    6. In what month do we vote for President?

He then asked me to read a sentence that was on the iPad screen. After that, write on the iPad the sentence he spoke aloud.

Once I finished the civics test, he started asking questions from the N400 application.  Name, birthdate, address, employer,  have I traveled outside of the US in the last 5 years, and have I been to Mexico in the last 14 days.  We chit-chatted for a little bit here because I requested a name change.  Then we moved on to the moral character part of the N400. He pretty much just asked me all the questions from the application.  After that, we chatted some more again-he was curious about me growing up in a military family. So we spoke maybe for about 10 minutes while he was finishing up documents. He told me he was recommending me for approval and they just needed to get a judge to sign off on my name change.  Hopefully will get to do my oath ceremony in a couple of weeks if the judge signs off in the next few days.

Nerve-wracking process but the biggest part is done!  Best of luck to anyone that is still waiting!

Yes I requested a name change. I’m still waiting for a interview. I contacted my senator to help with getting info on my case. Waiting to get a response from them.
