Can Uncancel Visa? [split topic]
powerpuff replied to supernatural006's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
This might be blessing in disguise that this happened. Spousal visa is a much better option and I’m saying this as a former K1 beneficiary -
Can Uncancel Visa? [split topic]
powerpuff replied to supernatural006's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
You cannot cancel a withdrawal. It is final and you will have to start over. We see this topic here very frequently. Also, just because it is not reflected on USCIS/NVC/consulate case status page and the process continues (e.g. you get a NOA2) does not mean it didn’t go through. it will come back to haunt you down the line in the immigration process as it has happened to someone here: -
~~ Topic moved from Process & Procedures to Progress Reports ~~ Each and every applicant goes through AP, some faster and other longer. But it’s definitely part of everyone’s process. Also, verbal on the spot approvals do not hold any weight and are not a thing, Nobody gets a visa right there and then, you have to come back for it or it’s mailed. That wait to get it is also AP. True approval is when the status shows “Issued”.

It’s DS-160.

You seem to be in denial. We’re giving you advice and you’re rebutting every point. By all means, do not meet again before the interview, this isn’t our immigration journey. You’re the one who has a lot at stake, not us. You asked a question - will this be a problem/should we worry about this? - we gave you a CLEAR answer - YES, It is a problem, you should worry - and you do not seem to like the answers. Just because you do not like the answers, does not mean it’s bad advice or it’s not true. At my K1 interview I was asked “when was the last time you saw your fiancé?”. I was well prepared for the question as we have seen each other recently before the interview and the CO was satisfied. Try telling this to the interviewing officer when he asks when was the last time you saw each other and let us know how it goes.

Sounds like the relationship would end if the K1 is denied. That’s unfortunate

US citizen petitioners are usually not allowed to walk in the consulate from what I’ve been reading. You should email the consulate in advance and ask if she can accompany you to the interview. So if you are denied, you will not go the CR1 spousal visa route? Then what is the plan in that case?

The answers you have received are nothing but factual and helpful. If traveling while AOS was so worrying to the extent where you’re preparing yourself for the worst possible outcome (which by the way none of us have come across in the years we’ve been here) instead of enjoying planning a vacation, then perhaps CR1 route was a better choice. But it is what it is and you’re currently AOS’ing so your choices are a) not travel until GC is in hand or b) travel using an AP. I don’t see a third option here

K1 visa interview Amsterdam
powerpuff replied to Nashira's topic in US Embassy and Consulate Discussion
Majority of consulates have K1s self schedule their own interview -
Ankara VS Abu Dhabi VS Armenia K1 Processing Times
powerpuff replied to mcpt35's topic in US Embassy and Consulate Discussion
She will be automatically assigned one. USCIS or NVC do not look at that field at all, I don’t understand why they have it there. And I’m speaking from experience too, they sent it to one based on my current residency at the time even though I requested one in my home country in that field. This is a practice they have been doing for years and continue to do. -

You generally can’t “consulate shop” for a fastest one as you have to have a basis to interview in that country (residency/citizenship) or it’s been assigned by the department of state (like the case for Iranians or Russians as an example). -

This is key and that’s something OP doesn’t want to do because they “don’t want to waste time planning trips” which frankly is a bizarre statement to me considering K1 process takes 18-24 months these days and also that excuse doesn’t fly with US immigration.

That’s not surprising, there is a long wait for Islamabad. Spouses of US citizens who were in DQ in June of 2021 are now getting ILs. I can only assume spouses take priority over parents but that’s just my assumption.

What consulate? That has a lot to do with the wait.
