  1. Sounds like your visa was denied and petition was returned to USCIS.
  2. I wouldn’t worry about it and just carry on Even though they didn’t acknowledge it, the withdrawal letteris somewhere in your file.
  3. ~~ Duplicate thread removed. Please do not start multiple threads pertaining to same or related topics (CBP customs and declaration) as that’s considered spamming ~~
  4. 2 years once you submit all docs to NVC and they’re accepted and you’re DQ’d and put into Interview queue:
  5. Sounds to me like you’re getting answers you don’t want to hear/don’t like to hear which explains this going around in circles conversation. Good luck with your immigration journey.
  6. It’s a personal choice, I’d say 5 (?) should be sufficient. Various institutions here (banks, DMV) ask to present an original at an appointment, after which they give it back to you. Even when I submitted documents for my adjustment of status to USCIS, I only submitted a photocopy. When I went to the interview with my husband, the IO asked for an original after which it was given back to me at the end of the interview. The only place I had to give away my original certified copy was when I had to renew my passport at the embassy of my country in the US and wanted to change my last name. Have you considered Utah Zoom marriage? Many, many members here have used that option. That way you will have access to certified copies any time at a lower cost and you don’t ever have to be worried about translating it since it’s an official US marriage certificate.
  7. Sorry to hear that. US Immigration is not known for compassion. My advice is to relocate them to a safer country nearby to secure their safety.
  8. ~~ Duplicate thread removed. Please do not start multiple threads on related topics ~~ You will be invited to complete all the documents with NVC, after which you will be entered into the queue to await for your Interview Letter (IL).
  9. I’d work on presenting better evidence of meeting in the last 2 years.

  14. Interesting. Perhaps they added those at risk countries to the new 2023 list.
  15. ~~ Topic moved from General Immigration discussion to US immigration news ~~ I do wonder which countries will be in the list.
  16. ~~ Topic moved from IR1/CR1 spousal forum visa to SSN sub-forum ~~
  17. Secondary security screening selection. Hasn’t happened to me personally but can imagine it is dreadful
  18. Again, we can see the complaint is with the long AOS process after arriving as a K1. That is the crux of this whole thread and of your resentment, it is NOT USCIS and immigration in general, it is the AOS process after K1. If you had a work permit right away, you would not be making this post and saying how USICS is terrible. Again, should’ve gone with the CR1.
  19. Where did I make excuses for them? I’ve always maintained that USCIS desperately needs to do better. Your biggest complaint is about the K1 and the subsequent AOS process. Maybe if you picked the spousal route, you wouldn’t be making this post. You made your own choice by going the K1 route, nobody forced you to do that. I’ve seen so many posts that complain about the US immigration system but do not provide actual, practical, tangible ways to address the issues. I haven’t seen any so far presented by you in this thread, only generic things.
  20. Definitely. K1 is just not worth it anymore. The processing times are bananas. Bringing children that are under 21 is really THE only advantage with K1. It used to be an advantage for same-sex couples but that has been eliminated due to Utah Zoom marriage.
  21. 100% agree with this and I was a K1 AOS. Both my husband and I knew what this process entails and agreed that we can handle me not having a work/travel permit for ~a year or so. If this was something that we were not able to handle and come to terms with, we’d definitely have gone with a CR1. This isn’t it something that is “hidden” or a surprise. This is open information. It is what it is. If working and traveling immediately are of importance, K1 is not for you.

  23. Consulates will never accept just a print out of a birth certificate. You actually need an original birth certificate.
