  1. ~~ Topic moved from CR1/IR1 progress reports forum to NVC forum as the question is specific to NVC ~~
  2. Most I-130 take 12-14 months to process. That’s probably the most realistic timeline to expect.
  3. ~~ Topic moved from Progress Reports to Process & Procedures ~~
  4. ~~ Topic moved to Tourist Visa forum as this is about a tourist visa ~~ Because they didn’t abide by the terms and conditions of their visas. The visas were granted to them because they had to show that they intend to return to their home country after the studies / visiting as a tourist which they did not do. They believe your sister will do the same and she probably did not have strong ties to her home country. No. Lawyers cannot do anything to guarantee an approval, especially for a non immigrant tourist visa
  5. Majority of consulates have the beneficiary schedule their own interview. The below portal for Colombia states that K1s schedule their own interviews https://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Colombia&cty=Bogota
  6. ~~ Topic moved from K1 forum to AOS tourist/work/student visas ~~ I -864 do not get a case number. It’s an affidavit of support, not an immigration benefit application You should also file I-131 since it is free (for now).
  7. You won’t be able to get an SSN without an EAD or GC first. So you’ll be able to get a DL either with an EAD or GC. Sounds about right. Some get it faster, some don’t. Shows 11.5 months on USCIS processing times
  8. ~~ Topic moved from AOS tourist/student/work visas forum to Moving to the US & Your New Life in America forum where DL related questions are discussed ~~

  10. ~~ Topic moved from CR1/IR1 progress reports forum to General Immigration discussion ~~
  11. It means you’re in administrative processing. No way to predict how long that’ll take, can take days, weeks or months
  12. ~~ Topic moved from Process & Procedures to Progress Reports ~~ no that’s not possible. Immigrant visas are scheduled by NVC once your case gets to the front of the line.
  13. Oh I thought you meant you’ll just apply for that after meeting one time. I did not know you meant apply for K1 without meeting. I take back my statement as I interpreted your words differently. You have been given excellent advice so far. K1 waivers are EXTREMELY rare. You’d be gambling with the chances of that. I especially like @Mike E idea regarding Mexico and driving there. A tourist visa is much easier to get in this case.
  14. My bad. I see that it is Sierra Leone. Personally, I would not bother with the tourist visa if the reason for applying for it is to show that your relationship is genuine. That just is not proof of that. I would focus on the actual meeting for the K1 filing. There are plenty of people who successfully petitioned after having met once. My usual advice is to meet several times but it is a hardship to you from what you have described so I think you should definitely provide proof of your medical condition during the process (especially for the interview stage).
  15. My answer would be yes, however one other big factor is which country the beneficiary (your fiancé) will interview in for the K1. Some consulates are more difficult than others. If you tell us the country then I can provide a better answer
  16. No, I do not think it’s worth the extra work.
  17. amplify where? On a tourist visa application?
  18. I-485 timeline depends on your LFO It’s not unheard of EADs taking more than a year. It’s a drawback of going through K1
  19. So what is the question? Is it related to the K1 process or the tourist visa?
  20. ~~ Topic moved from K1 forum to AOS K1 forum - this is about AOS ~~
  21. Average wait time for a B1/B2 visa is 610 days in Lagos.
