You'll have to ask CBP Traveler Communications Center if they use INA 101(a)(35) definition for "spouse" in the Schengen Area proclamation exemption. https://www.cbp.gov/travel/international-visitors/i-94/traveler-compliance

INA 101(a)(35): "The term "spouse", "wife", or "husband" do not include a spouse, wife, or husband by reason of any marriage ceremony where the contracting parties thereto are not physically present in the presence of each other, unless the marriage shall have been consummated."

If coming from restricted country (Schengen Area, UK, etc.) must go to unrestricted country for 14 days first. Then they can attempt to enter the US.

    Hi everyone,
I FINALLY made it to the USA!!! That was quite an adventure. In the beginning everything was totally relaxed in Serbia, but when the protests started I felt really uneasy. I just hoped that there would be no new restrictions. 😅

@thisguyflies actually explained everything quite nice, our flight was exactly the same. We only had a different experience at customs.

On Monday morning we left for the airport at four in the morning. They checked there twice that I was in Serbia long enough and then we already started. The flight was relatively empty (but quite a lot of older and very old people!). When we arrived in NY, my fiancé and I went through customs together. The officer only took the sealed package, my fingerprints, a photo of my face and then put me in a room (by the way, he didn't ask me a single question, e.g. how long I was outside the Schengen zone). In the other room, another officer stamped my passport, left for a short time and then wrote in the passport. Also the officer didn't ask me anything at all, he also didn't say that we have 90 days to get married and so on. He just gave me the passport and said 'Have a nice day'. To be honest every entry on the ESTA and student visa was longer and more complicated than that. But I'm just glad that we're finally getting this behind us. The flight to Charlotte was a breeze.

We are now planning to get married on Friday and send off the AOS asap. 😊

Wishing everyone who still has that adventure coming all the best and good luck!!! 💕

When I was about to book tickets to JFK I called the CBP preclearance here in Aruba to check and they told me I can't travel from Aruba because Aruba is included in the ban as a part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

I told them I was here for a holiday and then going to US afterwards. That was fine with them and she stamped my passport. When asked about my accommodation, I offered to show my Airbnb reservation details but she didn't need it. Hopefully this helps. Wishing you all the best

    Hi all

Just a quick message to confirm we successfully entered the US (LAX) after spending 15 days in Mexico.

The actual visa was fine, the guy didn't ask us anything except when we plan to get married.

However I did manage to leave my phone in the Uber that dropped us at the airport and I had to just let it go, I'm really stressed. I was running around the airport and had only 20 minutes before boarding... which meant when they tried to take my temperature at security it was too high and they wouldn't let me on! We tried 7 times, I even poured cold water down myself in the middle of the security line, fanning myself like a crazy person! The guy actually just waved me through after him seeing how stressed I was getting, definitely not the best thing to be doing in these times but thank god, I really feel like I owe him big time!

I am desperate to try and get my phone back, I feel helpless really because the guy only speaks Spanish so I can barely communicate with him. I have his number. I just brought a cheap phone today and I tried to text it in Spanish but it didn't like it. If anyone has any suggestions I'd be SO grateful. I just want to pay him to ship it over to me next day delivery for a very good amount of money!

Yes, I made it! Apologies for the delay, yesterday was my fiancé's birthday so we had to celebrate it!!

For those flying from Mexico to the US, you will have to complete an online questionnaire (afac.hostingerapp.com), take a screenshot of the final QR code and show it at the airport security check.

My flight arrived in Miami 40 minutes before ETA but POE was terrible. Even though there was almost nobody, I spent almost 2 hours in the interview room just because I heard the CBP officer in charge of my case saying that it's been a while that they did not have a K1! They were also confused because they thought I was directly flying from Europe. They hadn't checked my entry stamp in Mexico....... They wanted me to be checked by the CDC until I told them that I had spent 15 days in Mexico before entering Miami. It was so confusing. They then had to regularly check with their colleagues to ensure they were following the correct steps from their end, and finally stamped my passport. Our visa expires on September 2 but we were given 90 days for the wedding (until September 20). After all the craziness we've just been through, I assume you know that we do not want to risk it lol.

I still cannot believe we made it, everything looks unreal. Definitely excited to finally be able to start our lives together, without having to count the remaining days we have together like each time we would visit each other!

For those of us who plan to travel to an unrestricted country or who are still waiting for their 14 days to be over; I am sending you some good vibes and wishing you the best of luck for the rest of your journey! All my thoughts also go to the people who are in the middle of the K1 process. Hang in there, I really hope you will be reunited with your loved ones very soon!

I can't believe I am saying this but I am in Mexico City!

From beginning to end, overall went quite smooth.

As I had checked in the day before, I just had to drop my suitcase at the luggage drop-off in Paris (CDG). I was asked where I was going to fly and chatted a little bit because I had an excess bagage and the computer was not cooperating. Other than that, first step from Paris was super smooth. Everyone was super nice to me and Air France took care of the travel from Paris to Amsterdam, although we flew with a KLM plane.

Once in Amsterdam, border police checked my passport and I had to go through another security check for cabin luggage. After that, I waited for my plane to Mexico in Amsterdam's Schiphol airport. Some of the shops were closed but many of them were open. I was able to buy some food and good to go! I carefully followed other VJ members journey with KLM so I made sure to bring a bottle that I filled with water before boarding (only 1 bottle was available for the whole flight to Mexico so I definitely needed it!). We we offered a bag full of snacks and a hot meal for the whole trip. First time I ever flew with KLM and I was pleasantly surprised. It seems like they are doing their best to balance with satisfying customers needs and comply with COVID-19 safety measures. I took some pictures of the "travel" for those looking for some reassurance!

KLM crew then distributed 2 forms (health form and Mexican immigration form) by asking passengers "Mexican?". I did not understand at first as I was distracted, but then confirmed I was not so I was handed over 2 forms instead of 1. Some people did not understand either and by consequence, some of them had to fill in the form once at the Mexican immigration. They had queued but then had to wait again before passing the border. If you want to gain some time once at the Mexican immigration, make sure you have those 2 forms in hand. The immigration officer asked the purpose of my stay in Mexico, how long for, and the place where I was going to stay. I first said I was going to self-quarantine for 2 weeks and they then asked me the "complete" reason. I then told them that I was going to self-quarantine for 2 weeks at my hotel and then fly to the US. They stamped my passport, my Mexican immigration form and let me go. That was it, quite fast.

As someone here posted that Uber drivers are not allowed to pick up at the same place as taxis, I asked someone where I should go for Uber. If you plan to go to your airbnb/hotel etc. by Uber, you will have to go to Puerta 7 (Gate 7).
Also, to reassure my fiancé and my family, and just to be on the safe side, I shared my Uber trip with them so they could follow it live. In the Uber app, you just need to click on "share status" and choose the contacts you want to share the trip with!

I feel safe and I am not really worried about the rising number of cases given that I do not plan on visiting the city and just chill at my hotel and order food online. I feel very lucky and grateful that Mexico allowed me in, therefore I am willing to participate in the ongoing fight against the virus by avoiding unnecessary travels. At the same time, I also hope I will be able to come back to Mexico in the near future, in better circumstances.

I did not sleep in the flight to avoid being jet-lagged, quite tired now but I am not going to complain. I haven't seen my fiancé since last December and I just can't wait for these 14 days to be over. There's eventually a light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck and safe travels if you choose the same route!

PS: I wanted to thank everyone who shared their experience so far from now as it helped me get better mentally prepared to do this journey by myself. I will be forever thankful to you, thank you so much.

Yeah it's pretty nice! Haven't done much yet because of the storm plus I was super tired after the trip so I mostly stayed and rested. I used Uber yesterday to go to the city center for groceries without problems. They still have some restrictions so they cannot go all the way in to the airport or pick people up in the same spots as taxis but apart from that all good. The past few days were very humid but now the climate is completely different and very enjoyable!

I'll go also from Cancún to the states with AA but with two flights, first to TX then to MO with my ESTA, and I'm praying that everything goes well, because it's been five months since the last time we were with my fiancée and we both can't wait to be together.

I'm here in Cancún since last Monday and already saw a bit of how the climate works. The past few days there was a big storm called Cristobal, and that's why there was a lot of rain and wind here and in a lot of places in Mexico. We're indeed in the hurricane season, but just in the beginning, so the climate varies in very nice days and some mild rain and wind until the start of August until the end of October, so there's not much to worry about. I'm staying in front of the beach were the wind felt strong but nothing bad happened. And today was the total opposite, is a incredibly gorgeous day! I also went to do groceries to the city center during one of those bad days, and there the wind was super chill and everyone was doing normal life.

If I can be of help with anything else let me know! And glad you made it to Mexico!

Hi everyone! I made it to Mexico safely. The journey was all in all not a bad experience, of course you have to wear a mask on the plane, and there are more screenings than usual-however, I was lucky enough to get 4 seats all to myself, and everyone else on the plane seemed to have a lot of space, too. My flight from Frankfurt to Mexico City was with Lufthansa, the board service was pretty much standard - drinks, food and so on. I was positively surprised.. we landed 45 mins early. Everyone had their temperature taken at arrivals. Customs was empty, I told them that I was going to stay in Mexico to quarantine. The guy wasn’t happy, he asked for my ticket to the US, which I gladly showed him. He then asked, why I was going to travel from Cancun to the US and why I was going to Cancun. I said that I was told that there are less corona cases and that the embassy told me, it would be fine to go to Cancun. He said, there are loads of cases everywhere. I said, well if it is a problem, I can also just stay in Mexico City. He asked me, why I wanted to go to the USA (I saw that he had already seen myK1 Visa in my passport). I said that I am going to get married to an American. He didn’t say anything. After what felt like a tiny eternity, I asked well, can I go then? And he just moved his hand (like go). So I took my and made a run for it. Either way, I am still not 100% sure If I want to go to Cancun, I saw there are tropical storms and a bunch of thunderstorms in Cancun. It’s the wet season. If someone who is already there could let me know, I would be very grateful! Unfortunately my travel buddy texted me yesterday, she is too scared to go so I would travel by myself. Thanks for any advice!! So far everyone has been extremely friendly here in Mexico City and the hotel is very nice. Pool is closed tho, and the streets are pretty empty.
