  1. My fiancé says she remembers there being a GCash option? Sorry, that may not be much help.
  2. CEAC status says APPROVED and that the next step is ISSUED. Is that when the passports are released for shipment back to the owners? Anyone have a feel for how long it takes the embassy to issue and send them?
  3. She will schedule her CFO class as soon as she gets her passport in her hands. We will update about it here.
  4. Update. Interview this morning. She was in the embassy almost exactly 4 hours. The actual interview portion consisted only of questions about my prior marriages. Their names. Why they ended. Other details. After she answered as well as she could, she was told that she was approved and they herded her out the door. They didn’t ask to see anything else from her. She worked so hard on her relationship presentation, she was a bit disappointed they didn’t ask to see it. But whatever. She was approved. They said 1-2 weeks to get her passport, which seems a bit long. We hope it doesn’t take that long. They kept a few original documents from her. So you know of they are returned with the passport?
  5. Bayview Park Hotel. About a 15 minute leisurely walk from the embassy. If you negotiate, you can get a basic room that includes breakfast for 3500p. Good Wi-Fi. Good amenities. Would stay again. Red Planet is a couple minutes closer to the embassy. Super tiny rooms. No amenities. Did I mention the room was tiny? About 3000p. Not for me.
  6. Quick update from us. She successfully completed the medical and got her packet on 4 Oct. I am with her on Manila now, today is Sunday the 15th. Her interview is on Tuesday at 9:30. Almost to the finish line.
  7. I see you are getting lots of advice. That’s great . i just wondered, if you care to share, what document were you missing? I didn’t see it listed on tie pic there.
  8. Ironic? Yes Surprising? No
  9. Yes. I wasn’t clear with my post. I have heard differing stories as to whether the clinic sends the results to the embassy or they give a packet to the beneficiary. In our case, we got a packet. Heh heh. CDs. The cutting edge of medical technology. We don’t even own a computer with a CD drive anymore.
  10. Congratulations! Always good to see someone have success with this. They issued the certificate on the spot? No waiting period? Not sent in email? You are free to get on a plane immediately?
  11. My fiancé completed her medical today. They gave her a sealed packet and a CD containing her x-ray to take to her interview.
  12. Ok. I bow to your superior knowledge. I’ve only been a member here since 2007.
  13. There are plenty of posts here from beneficiaries relating tales of their CFO interview. Some are told that they don’t need to show certain docs because the interviewer is familiar with the visa process and knows what was required for that. So, yes, the 2 processes are not legally related, but there is certainly crossover between them. It’s just the luck of the draw as to which interviewer you get that day.
  14. And I can see them doing that if the marriage was to take place in the Philippines. But seeing how it is not, the K1 process has already verified single civil status of the petitioner. It just seems like they enjoy putting the screws to us. And I really can’t figure out why.
  15. Yes. The status will change to ‘Ready’. That is when many of us do the 160.
  16. Yes. That is normal. It will sit there until it makes the shipment to your embassy, they ship every 2 weeks. When shipped, the status changes to ‘In Transit’. After the embassy receives and processes it, the status will change to ’ Ready’. That’s when many of us do the 160, but check your specific embassy guidelines for the best information.
  17. From my limited Google searching, it looks like many countries require this if you are marrying in their country. But since you are not marrying in the Philippines, it seems unreasonable to ask for this. Is it possible the interviewer thinks you are marrying there in country? But since when has unreasonable been a factor?
  18. I did a Google search and found a Civil Status Affidavit template. I’m gonna fill it out, have it notarized, and hope for the best. My state offers no such document.
  19. That’s crazy and a little scary. We will be going thru this in a few weeks. Very curious about outcome here. I can’t imagine what they are thinking they want from you.
  20. Once she chose the interview appt date, the medical was simple. Plenty of availability. I know they ‘suggest’ one week between medical and interview, but I see plenty of people schedule only 2 or 3 days between.
  21. You should get an email in a few days, and we submitted our 160 as soon as we got the Ready notification.
  22. The Commission on Filipino Overseas (CFO) Guidance and Counseling Program (GCP) is a program of the Philippine government that aims to protect Filipino fiancés and spouses of foreigners who wish to migrate overseas from human trafficking and other schemes. Yep. Believe it or not. Not only that, but the finance must complete the whole immigration process, up to the point of having the visa in the passport, before they even can attend the course.
  23. Update on i us. Fiancé has her medical sppt next Monday. She will attend by herself, with a friend for support. I am flying in on the 12th to bring all my original papers and we will be together for her interview on the 17th. Of course, even though it is the US Embassy, I went be allowed inside. How unbelievable is that? I’ll find a coffee shop and wait for the smiles. Best case scenario, we will pick up her passport/Visa on about the 20th. But who knows? Then we start the mysterious Philippine CFO process. We have no idea how long that will take, but as soon as we get the certificate, I’ll buy plane tickets and we will make our way to the USA. Long road to get here. Months and months of waiting and nothing and then everything seems to happen at once.
