  1. Divorced is considered unmarried. F1 category, as long as she remains unmarried.

  5. There's a question about previous nationalities in the DS-260. Hopefully, you answered that question accurately? Although they do care about your country of origin, previous passports are typically not required. But if you're the type who's prone to anxiety like me, best to bring old passports anyway, just in case.
  6. For other readers, please note that I-130 is NOT required for K1/K2 after US entry IF the I-129F couple marry within 90 days of arrival, as they promised to do. Again, no need to file I-130 if married within 90 days of US entry on K1. After the couple's marriage and issuance of valid marriage certificate, K1 and K2 must file an I-485 package each, to apply for green cards. It doesn't matter who pays the filing fee. USCIS doesn't care whether the American or the intending immigrants pay, as long as the fee gets paid.

  8. Please do update us. Last I heard, Manila requires all K2 applicants, regardless of age, to be at the embassy for biometrics collection at least.
  9. *** Moved from NVC forum to US Embassy & Consulate Discussion, as the topic is about interview scheduling at a specific consulate *** Current wait time from DQ to interview letter for IR1 cases at Islamabad is around 20 months. Check the thread below --

  11. 1. Answer should be "Yes" -- subject to public charge. 2. Depends on what the RFE asks for. If not specified, fill out new I-485, sign and put actual date of signing. Note that it should be your wife (the immigrant) who should sign the I-485.
  12. *** Moved from K1 Progress Reports to K1 Process & Procedures *** 1. You need to get NBI Clearance. Visit the Philippine embassy closest to you. 2. Technically, CENOMAR is valid for 1 year from issue date. But to minimize risk of getting 221g and delaying your process, I recommend getting a new CENOMAR within 6 months of your interview date.
  13. Yes, upload a scan of the new passport bio page. Since the case is already DQ, no need to rush the uploads. I recommend uploading the updated documents maybe 1 week before her interview date. I uploaded mine the day before my interview and it was fine.

  16. For Manila, make sure that all civil documents and any updated financial support documents (including tax paperwork) are uploaded to CEAC prior to the interview. If the document screener at USEM sees that the files in CEAC are outdated, they will not allow the visa applicant to proceed to the interview with the consul officer. Worst case, the applicant will be told to leave and return after the documents have been scanned and uploaded. USEM might offer a scanning service within the consulate premises, but I'm not sure if that's available to all applicants or if it was just a special service to elderly applicants at the time of my interview in Nov 2021.

  22. If your sister intends to stay in the US, no need to submit DS-260 nor pay fees to NVC. Just file I-485 with the required supporting documents, including a copy of the I-130 approval notice. I also recommend filing I-765 (category c9) and I-131, even if she already has EAD. I-765 and I-131 are free if filed with or after I-485.
  23. Not her passport. You or your wife will need to write it yourself. On a blank document, just type or legibly hand-write her name and address using her native language. Then scan or convert the document into a PDF file and upload.
