  1. As I mentioned above, the procedure and time frame will depend on your residence state. No need to contact the health department proactively. Just wait for them to contact you. Did you enter the US with a CR1/IR1 or any other immigrant visa? If so, any state requirement related to the TB annotation will have no impact on your immigration status. The letter I got from my state health department stated something similar.

  7. *** Moved from Work Visas forum to Working & Traveling During US Immigration, to be among other threads about EAD application *** If you applied for I-485 based on marriage and paid the I-485 filing fee, then there is no fee for I-765 EAD application or renewal under (c)(9) category. If you sent payment for the I-765 anyway, then USCIS rightly rejected it. Send the I-765 again, this time with a copy of your I-485 receipt notice, and don't send payment. From the I-765 form instructions -- https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/i-765instr.pdf Renewal EAD. If this is a renewal application and you are applying under one of the following categories, a filing fee is not required for: [...] 4. (c)(9) or (c)(16) Any current Adjustment of Status or Registry applicant who filed for adjustment of status on or after July 30, 2007, and paid the appropriate Form I-485 filing fee. If you file Form I-765 separately from your Form I-485, you must also submit a copy of your Form I-797C Notice for Form I-485, as evidence of filing Form I-485 on or after July 30, 2007, and payment of the appropriate form filing fee. If you did not pay the appropriate Form I-485 filing fee because your filing fee was waived or you are exempt from paying it, you must pay the Form I-765 filing fee or request that the filing fee be waived.

  9. Will the parent be interviewing in Manila? Here's what the consulate guidelines say -- "Applicants may bring ONE person to help if they are elderly, disabled, or a minor child." from https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Supplements/Supplements_by_Post/MNL-Manila.html#interview_guidelines

  12. As mentioned above, TN visa/status would be an option for you. You would need to have a US employer already before entering on TN status. Just remember that you are not allowed to enter with intent to adjust status. But you may stay and work in the US on TN status, then return to Canada to complete your CR1 visa processing. This assumes that you are able to convince CBP that you will return to complete consular processing for CR1, so they will admit you as TN in the meantime. The VJ member below was able to do it --

  18. Yes, as long as you return within a year of getting the stamp. For extra assurance in case you encounter clueless airline check-in staff, bring a print-out of page 32 of CBP's Carrier Information Guide when you travel -- https://www.cbp.gov/sites/default/files/assets/documents/2019-Mar/2019 Carrier Information Guide - ENGLISH.pdf

  20. No issue as far as US immigration is concerned. Just note that your wife will not be able to change the name on her PH passport, even if you get legally married in Japan and she becomes an LPR in the US. Does she use her Japanese surname in her PH passport? She's stuck with whatever name is listed there, at least until she naturalizes in the US or files for Recognition of Foreign Divorce in the PH.
  21. Yes, you'll have a chance to update your DS-260 info at the consulate on the day of your visa interview.
  22. That's the biggest reason I'll be changing my name when I apply for citizenship. It's been many years now since I first came to the US and so far, only two Americans have been able to pronounce my last name right on the first try, one being the CO at my visa interview. Even my husband still has trouble pronouncing my last name the way it's pronounced in my native country. But other than the minor annoyance of hearing people say my name wrong and/or being asked repeatedly to spell my name, I've had no trouble getting IDs and opening accounts using my maiden name which is listed on my GC. No company or government employee in the US has ever questioned why my husband and I don't have the same last name. But for situations where I don't need to show an ID, like when making restaurant reservations, I use my married name.
  23. German addresses use Roman letters, so there is no need to enter his German address in that section. Leave item# 50 blank or write "N/A". No need to translate a German address to Arabic.
