  1. Sadly, geowrian passed away in 2020, days after his last VJ post 😢 Logins after that were by his wife.
  2. *** Moved from US Citizenship General Discussion to Progress Reports *** Check the Houston filers' thread here --
  3. Bring a copy of this SSA manual page when you apply for your daughter's SSN, highlighting the section about "Temporary I-551 stamp" -- https://secure.ssa.gov/poms.nsf/lnx/0110211025 Whether she gets SSN quickly or not, still depends on the result of SAVE Verification, as mentioned above.
  4. You got the "Notice of Immigrant Visa Case Creation" email too, right?
  5. As an AOS applicant, she is no longer considered a visitor. As a new resident, she is required to get an SC license within 45 days of moving to the state, if she wants to drive legally -- https://scdmvonline.com/Driver-Services/Moving-To-SC
  6. After NVC sends out the first IL, re-scheduling is handled by the consulate, and procedures for re-scheduling vary depending on the consulate. @bencdxb @MarmiteC There seems to be a new process for re-scheduling for London, prior to the original appointment. Check this thread -- https://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/797230-rescheduling-london-consulate-ir-1cr-1-interview-new-process/?do=findComment&comment=10866026
  7. *** Moved from IR1/CR1 Progress Reports to IR1/CR1 Process & Procedures *** Yes, you need to present Japanese police certificate again.
  8. Since you already booked the appointment, might as well attend. Your wife might get lucky and encounter a knowledgeable SSA employee to handle her SSN application. That said, be prepared for disappointment too, as some VJ members who applied for SSN after getting married had trouble with the process. Whatever you decide re: SSN, don't delay filing the I-485 package. File ASAP. As mentioned above, SSN is not required to file I-485.
  9. What you might be forgetting is that USCIS is a federal agency. While USCIS does consider state laws on marriages (like laws on first-cousin marriage), USCIS has its own regulations on immigrant's legal names, as mentioned by @Crazy Cat. USCIS allows the use of married name on application documents, even though the applicant's married name is not listed on the marriage certificate. Otherwise, applicants living in states where the marriage certificate does not list their married name (like in Louisiana), will never have a chance to use their married name without going through the name change process in state court.
  10. *** Merged related threads. Please post your questions/updates related to this topic in this thread to keep the discussion in one place. *** CBP is supposed to notify USCIS of the immigrant's arrival. That should be handled automatically through their system, but that's a black box to us. Have you paid the $220 immigrant fee? USCIS says it could take up to 90 days from US entry + fee payment to get the plastic GC. In some cases (like mine), it took longer than 120 days.
  11. Also, the Department of State would not be involved at all in any scheduling for your I-485 and EAD/AP applications, so those emails are definitely suspicious.
  12. Note that the official scheduling/registration portal that the Department of State uses for visa appointments is also a .com (not .gov) site -- www.ustraveldocs.com. While www.usvisascheduling.com seems to be legit as well. Apparently, it's the new scheduling portal that ustraveldocs will redirect to for NIV applicants in India -- That said, it's common for scammers to include official-looking site addresses in the message body to make the email seem more legit. It's certainly prudent not to click links on any email you're not expecting, despite how legit the links may seem.
  13. *** Moved from General Immigration-Related Discussion to the Europe & Eurasia regional forum *** *** Post split off from an old thread in another sub-forum and merged into this one. Please post questions about your situation in this thread. ***
  14. *** Moved from DCF forum to Moving to the US & Your New Life In America forum, where similar topics about processes after US entry are discussed ***
  15. Only the CO that will adjudicate your case will be able to tell you for certain. In the meantime, are you able to obtain any of the alternate or supporting documents listed here, under "Birth Certificates" -- https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/Pakistan.html
  16. Do you mean that your mother's last name was incorrectly listed on your birth certificate? Like, her name is listed as "Jane Dot", but she's actually "Jane Doe"?
  17. It's still possible for your children to age out, even if they remain unmarried. You won't know until your case PD becomes current on the visa bulletin.
  18. @Family One tried something like that, but it didn't quite work out. Not on ESTA, but on B2 --
  19. Based on your VJ timeline, it seems your wife is now eligible for N400 early filing, at least based on her LPR date. Has she filed N400 yet? Her being a USC would give her mom a path to a GC.
  20. *** Merged related threads. Please post your questions/updates related to this topic in this thread to keep the discussion in one place. ***
  21. *** Post split off from August filers thread in the Progress Reports sub-forum. Please post questions about your situation in this thread. *** *** Removed duplicate thread. Please do not create multiple posts on the same topic. Post your related questions/updates in this thread to keep the discussion in one place. ***
  22. *** Off-topic post split off to a new thread in the AOS from K1 main forum ***
