  1. *** Moved from K1 Process & Procedures to AOS from K1 Visas Progress Reports ***
  2. SSN card arrives in the mail typically within 2 weeks of US entry. Wait for a month or so, then if your card still hasn't been delivered, book an appointment at an SSA office to apply for SSN in person.
  3. *** Moved from IR1/CR1 Process & Procedures to NVC forum, where similar topics about NVC review time are discussed *** Depends on whether the replaced document is one of the basic requirements. If so, it will likely take another cycle for NVC to review it.
  4. *** Moved from US Citizenship General Discussion to Progress Reports ***
  5. *** Moved from US Citizenship General Discussion to What to do now that you are a US citizen ***
  6. *** Moved from K1 Process & Procedures to Moving to the US and Your New Life In America forum, where insurance-related topics are discussed ***
  7. *** Moved from IR1/CR1 Process & Procedures to IR1/CR1 Progress Reports *** There's no guaranteed timeframe, unfortunately. It could take days or weeks more. If you need your passport asap, you may contact the consulate to ask for your it back without the visa. Or you may opt to apply for a temporary passport. Details from @ToddD here -- Check out other applicants' experiences at Montreal in the mega-thread below --
  8. 6 months if no abnormal findings. 3 months if medically cleared (ie, no active TB) after sputum culture testing. If sputum testing shows active TB, the applicant will need to go through TB treatment, then repeat the visa medical after completing the treatment.
  9. Then the approved petition will most likely be assigned a case number for Warsaw. No need to wait for NVC case number before requesting case transfer. Around a week or so after you get NOA2, send a request to NVC to assign the case to Ankara instead. Attach a scan of your fiancee's resident permit in Turkey.
  10. Enter the company name, not the staff name.
  11. No. The USCIS page for I-90 has a note that says: "DO NOT submit this form if you are a conditional resident seeking to remove conditions on your Green Card."
  12. Wait for NOA2 and NVC case number. If you listed your fiancee's address in Turkey as her current physical address in the I-129F, the case will likely be sent to Ankara, not Warsaw. If not, you may request for case transfer to Ankara on the basis of your fiancee's resident permit in Turkey. Whether it is accepted or not, depends on the consulate, but it is likely that they will accept. By the way, Ankara is the only consulate that handles K1 cases in Turkey.
  13. Not a problem. Bring both passports to the visa interview.
  14. If he is over 18 years old at the time of your wife's oath, he will have to file for N-400 separately, even if he was still below 18 when your wife filed for her N-400.
  15. [UPDATE] We filed our returns and amendments based on the plan outlined in my original post above. All self-prepared using online tax software. Status updates -- 2021 tax return: E-filed in March 2022. Refund deposited directly to our account after 8 calendar days. 2020 amendment: Sent our 1040X form & supporting documents via 1st-class mail in March 2022. Status on IRS.gov showed as "Received" after 24 days. From "Received" to "Adjusted" took 223 days. Refund check arrived in the mail after 3 days. Check was dated 2 days before the "Adjusted" date on IRS.gov. 2019 amendment: Sent in the same package as our 2020 documents. Status on IRS.gov showed as "Received" after 24 days. Still pending. Fun fact -- Our 2020 refund check included interest earned, which was 6% on top of our expected refund! Much higher than the 0.01% we get from our savings account 😜
  16. I assume the child also has a 10-year GC? If so, no need to file a separate form for him to get US citizenship. If he is below 18 years old at the time your wife takes her US oath, he will automatically gain US citizenship as well.

  19. That depends on the citizenship laws of Brazil. US doesn't care whether she retains her previous citizenship or not. Is her son also a green card holder and residing in the US with her? And does your wife have legal custody (as in, with documentary evidence like custody papers)?
  20. You can't get SSN until after you enter the US with your spouse visa. If SSN is truly required for you to be added to his deployment orders, then it's a no-go for you until after you become an LPR.
  21. Your case will be DQ only when you receive an NVC email and a CEAC inbox message with the words "Documentarily Qualified". Until then, your case will not be queued for interview scheduling. So, have you received the DQ email/message?
  22. *** Moved from Bringing Family of USC forum to Passports sub-forum -- child is already in the US; topic is about US citizenship document for minor child of USC ***
