You have until day 76 of your US entry to apply based on your K1 visa. After that 76-day window, you will have to wait for your EAD or GC to be eligible for SSN again.

If approved, the application will result in a single-entry travel authorization document (humanitarian parole) for the beneficiary. Unlike an AP document, this travel authorization cannot be used to re-enter the US if the beneficiary leaves. The beneficiary may apply for an actual AP document by submitting form I-131 after entering the US.

    Those other people opened accounts in banks or signed up for credit cards that do not require SSN/ITIN for authorized users. I've seen recommendations for Bank of America and Wells Fargo, but have no personal experience with those banks.

    Since you already have your interview date, your case has been transferred to the consulate, so no need to notify NVC. Just update your DS-260 information at the consulate on the day of your interview. Volunteer the new addresses in case you are not asked, especially your intended address in the US as that's where your SSN and GC will be shipped to.

    Did she have a valid Advance Parole card/document prior to leaving the US? If not, she can't return to the US without a new travel authorization.
