  1. *** Moved from Tax & Finances During US Immigration to Your New Life In America forum, where topics related to health insurance and public charge are discussed ***
  2. Straight from the HealthCare.gov website -- https://www.healthcare.gov/immigrants/lawfully-present-immigrants/ Medicaid, CHIP, & "public charge" status Applying for or receiving Medicaid or CHIP benefits, or getting savings for health insurance costs in the Marketplace, doesn't make someone a "public charge". This means it won’t affect their chances of becoming a Lawful Permanent Resident or U.S. citizen. There's one exception for people receiving long-term care in an institution at government expense, like in a nursing facility. These people may face barriers getting a green card.
  3. *** Moved from US Citizenship Progress Reports to General Discussion ***
  4. *** Moved from US Citizenship General Discussion to Progress Reports *** Congratulations!
  5. *** Moved from NVC forum to Embassy/Consulate Discussion -- OP's wife's case is already DQ, and interview scheduling varies by consulate, not an NVC issue *** Manila has been doing very well in clearing their backlog of CR1/IR1 cases since 2021. Wait time from DQ to interview letter is around 1 to 2 months now. Mine came in 3 weeks after DQ. No expedite.
  6. *** Moved from Bringing Family of USC forum to AOS from Work/Student/Tourist Visas forum -- topic is about AOS of parent already in the US ***
  7. *** Removed related thread. Please do not create multiple posts on the same topic, as that is considered spamming. Post your related questions in this thread to keep the discussion in one place. ***
  8. I-864 should be submitted at NVC stage, after the I-130 petition is approved. @sahihe -- this thread and sub-forum is for those going through the visa process for family members living abroad. The sub-forum for I-130 with I-485 for family members in the US is at https://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/130-adjustment-of-status-from-work-student-amp-tourist-visas/ (process questions) and https://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/138-adjustment-of-status-case-filing-and-progress-reports/ (timeline-related).
  9. Wait for CEAC status to be "Issued". No tracking until "Issued", not "Ready".
  10. *** Moved from K1 Process & Procedures to the Canada regional forum, for consulate-specific input ***
  11. Yes for CR1/IR1. Getting back to pre-shutdown levels for K1. The issue with K1 nowadays is the USCIS stage. Processing estimate for I-129F is now up to around 16 months on average!
  12. *** Moved from AOS from Work/Student/Tourist Visas forum to What Visa Do I Need ***
  13. *** Moved from AOS from K1 Visas Progress Reports to Effects of Major Family Changes forum, where VAWA-related cases are discussed ***
  14. Do you mean passport pickup at the consulate? London does not allow in-person pickup from the consulate -- only pickup from the courier depot, or delivery. Did you not set your preferred passport delivery method before your interview?
  15. I'm not a K1 visa holder, but I did recently get a learner's permit from the Louisiana OMV. If your existing DL is from the UK, you will likely need a learner's permit as well. Check with the OMV staff if you will be allowed to take the road test with your UK DL without getting a learner's permit and going to driving school first. You cannot get a Louisiana DL/learner's permit/state ID as a K1 visa holder (prior to I-485 filing). On Table 2 of the PDF you linked, for K1 -- "No Issuance by OMV". Instead, you should apply as an "Applicant for Permanent Residency I-485" (listed in Table 1). Don't even mention K1 as it will just confuse the OMV staff. As an I-485 applicant, bring the following original documents to the OMV -- Foreign passport SSN card Unexpired EAD card I-797 (I-485 receipt notice) Proof of residence (any US government/bank/insurance-issued letter with your name and Louisiana address) Lastly, make sure you have a confirmed appointment before you go to the OMV. No need to print the appointment confirmation. Just show the staff the OMV email or text message on your phone. At the branch I went to, those with appointments did not need to line up. We sat at the waiting area until our name was called. Those who had no appointments for that day had to wait in line outside until all those who had appointments completed their business at the OMV.
  16. *** Moved from AOS from K1 Visas forum to AOS Progress Reports ***
  17. He should fill out the I-864 as self-employed -- part 6, item 4 checkbox should have been checked. Also, as per the I-864 form instructions, he must include Schedule C, D, E, or F and all other schedules filed with his tax return, when submitting the I-864.
  18. *** Moved from IR1/CR1 Process & Procedures to IR1/CR1 Progress Reports ***
  19. *** Moved from AOS from K1 Visas Progress Reports to US Citizenship Progress Reports ***
  20. Some consider it lucky to be RFE-d for I-693. Though not guaranteed, it typically indicates waived interview prior to AOS approval.
  21. *** Moved from K1 Progress Reports to K1 Process & Procedures ***
  22. *** Moved from US Citizenship General Discussion to Progress Reports ***
  23. *** Removed related thread. Please post your related questions in this thread to keep the discussion in one place. *** I already addressed this above and posted the official USCIS page that explains CSPA for family-preference cases.
