  1. Some applicants do, but not all, like those with expedited cases not scheduled by NVC.
  2. *** Moved from K1 Progress Reports to Embassy/Consulate Discussion ***
  3. Was your fiancee given a sealed envelope with the medical results? As far as I know, SLEC already uses the e-Medical system, so the medical results will be transmitted electronically to the US embassy. Maybe your fiancee was given a personal copy of her vaccination worksheet?
  4. Was she married to her son's father? This is a critical question for all visa applicants born in the Philippines. Your spouse-to-be will need a PSA CENOMAR/CEMAR eventually, for her US visa processing. I didn't list it in my previous post as CENOMAR/CEMAR is only valid for 1 year after issue date, so not recommended to get one before petition approval.
  5. *** Moved from IR1/CR1 Progress Reports to IR1/CR1 Process & Procedures *** As mentioned above, the A-number will be printed on the spouse visa. Some applicants learn of their A-number before getting their visa. In my case, my A-number was listed on my interview letter from NVC. You become an LPR (aka, green card holder) the moment CBP stamps your spouse visa at POE. So use the date of your first US entry with your spouse visa.

  7. If your I-129F was already approved back in July 2022, then USCIS no longer has any part in the visa processing after that. You should be contacting NVC or the consulate instead. Hopefully, you did not miss the email from NVC with the case number, or it was not sent to your spam email folder.
  8. *** Moved from IR1/CR1 Progress Reports to Bringing Family of USC to America forum, where topics about IR2 cases are discussed *** That link is for applicants in the Dominican Republic. Based on OP's VJ profile, they will be interviewing in India. Each consulate has their own policy on whether toddler applicants are required to attend interview. At the consulate in my home country, all immigrant visa applicants, even toddlers, need to show up at the consulate for interview. Obviously, all questions are directed at their parent or adult guardian, but the children are required to be physically present regardless. Best to contact your consulate directly to confirm if your child will be required to attend the interview. If so, you may request NVC to link your and your child's cases together so you two can be scheduled for interview together. Whether your child needs to attend the interview or not, DS-260 is required for your child. Police certificates are not required for applicants below 16 years old.
  9. As far as NVC is concerned, most recent tax documents required is for 2021 tax year until April 18, 2023, although you should submit your 2022 tax documents if you already filed them. After the filing deadline, your 2022 tax documents will be required, and the 2021/2020 documents will be optional. As others already mentioned, just e-file MFJ for 2022 with your spouse's ITIN.

  12. In your previous thread, you were advised to file the I-485, I-131, I-765 along with the I-130. The reason I-864 is not mentioned is that it is a required supporting document for the I-485, not a separate application like the others are. Check the VJ guide here -- https://www.visajourney.com/guides/i130-spouse-inside-usa/
  13. *** Moved from US Citizenship General Discussion to What Visa Do I Need -- OP asking about US immigration options for friend/spouse-to-be *** I also recommend CR1. Marry her in Canada, then file an I-130 petition to start the spouse visa process. As mentioned above, if she gets a Canada PR card, she may complete her US immigration process in Canada. Check the VJ guide here -- https://www.visajourney.com/guides/ir1-spouse-visa/ Whichever visa process you decide on, I strongly recommend your Filipina friend get multiple copies of her official documents from the Philippines before she moves to Canada, like her PSA birth certificate and NBI clearance. If she was previously married to her son's father, she would also need copies of her PSA marriage certificate and her late husband's PSA death certificate.

  16. *** Removed related thread. Please post your related questions/updates in this thread to keep the discussion in one place. ***
  17. It's possible that 2022 tax filings from your husband and your joint sponsor will be required at the interview. I recommend bringing them to avoid delay due to missing documents. As for your DS-260 info, update it at the consulate on the day of your interview. Many consulates have a document screening step prior to the actual interview with the consul officer. You may update your DS-260 then (recommended), or inform the CO directly.
  18. As mentioned above, NVC will not require 2022 tax documents until after the April filing deadline. So yes, you may submit just your 2021 tax documents until that date, and bring the 2022 documents and updated I-864 to the interview. Note that some consulates require that documents updated after DQ be uploaded to CEAC prior to the interview. I don't know if Islamabad has that policy.
  19. Proof of living together is not required. It's just one of the examples of evidence you may (not must) submit. In our case, we even explicitly stated on the I-130 that we "NEVER LIVED TOGETHER", yet I got my spouse visa from the US embassy in Manila just fine. That said, a marriage certificate and affidavits from witnesses may not be enough. 3rd-party affidavits are weak evidence, as anyone can say anything on an affidavit. Focus on providing documentary evidence of time spent together in person, like your passport stamps and boarding passes from your trips to the Philippines. Add supporting evidence, like pictures together during those trips.
  20. You may get lucky to be able to file MFS online without spouse SSN with the tax software mentioned in this thread. My USC spouse tried to do so with TaxAct for tax year 2020, but even after paying around $100 for the federal+state version with full customer support, TaxAct still did not allow him to file MFS online. Maybe they fixed that issue since 2020, but we never tried TaxAct again after that experience.
  21. OP is a green card holder, not a US citizen. And children born to USCs may not necessarily acquire US citizenship automatically. Certain conditions must be met, one of which is that the parent must already be a USC at the time of the child's birth. Not applicable in the case of this OP. If the OP naturalizes before their child gets an immigrant visa, they will have to start the child's immigration process from scratch with a new I-130.
  22. It probably means that they will issue you an I-551 stamp on an I-94 document, instead of in your passport. An unexpired I-551 stamp serves as valid proof of legal status, whether it is placed in your passport or on a separate I-94 document.
