We had applied for consular processing in July 2019. I travelled to Washington as a visitor with my husband and kids (Americans). In January, assuming our case would be processed within the next few months, the kids and I moved back to Winnipeg. Then COVID. Everything shut down. Our i130 was approved right as the pandemic was beginning. It was sent to NVC. From there we waited and waited. Finally in September 2020 we travelled back to We ashington on a 6 month visitor's visa and I was able to get my R1 visa in November. Had to do a flagpole run through the Canadian border and back to USA in Oroville, WA. Border guards were horrible and I think delighted in scaring me. But I had everything in order and I think I knew more about gett ok ng an Rnvisa than they did, so I was eventually let back in. We received 3 consular appointments and we're not able to make any of them because of COVID restrictions and because of the tole they had on our young kids (5 and 3). In June we applied for AOS and recieved a notice the week before Christmas, 2021, that .y appointment for an interview was on Jan 6, 2022 in Spokane. Easy interview. No questions were asked re our marriage, just about our journey to get there. The interviewer said, because I had gone through consular process, his job was much easier and it was evident that we were married (my husband was with me).
