Gamal and I met on Yahoo in June 2006. On my end it wasn't a whirlwind romance, I was very cautious, having just gotten out of a long term relationship, I was definitely not looking for love at all. Gamal was persistent, very kind, patient and a wonderful listener, and kind of just wore down my defenses. I realized after about 3 months of conversation with him that I had indeed fallen for him. I flew to Egypt in October 2007, and we married the day I landed. He was a full head taller than I had expected, actually a head taller than anyone else in the crowd, and I thought that was so awesome, because I was secretly hoping he wouldn't be too short lol. We had a wonderful time while I was there, saw the sites, some of which even though he lived there had never taken the time to visit. I came back and 2 months later filed for him to come to the US. He was approved in July 2008, and arrived within 2 weeks of getting his Visa. He has been here for 2 years. It has been a big adjustment for both of us. Gamal had major culture shock when he got here. Florida is so quiet compared to Cairo and he is alone here except for me. Fortunately God has smiled upon us and made us fall even more in love, and blessed us with our first child, Miriam on May 11, 2010.
