  1. Hi all,

my fiancé was asked to send in additional documents along with his passport to the consulate via DHL. We just read that the instructions page (generated on the AIS page) is supposed to be sent along with the documents. We didn’t include the instructions page and we’re wondering if this could have a negative impact. Does anyone have experience with sending documents to the consulate via courier? Can we just attach the instructions page as pdf and email it to the consulate? Please help. Attached below is the instructions page.
(I hope my question is clear)

Thanks Kenyan Couple. Do you know if it was an expedite or normal visa process? Our case was scheduled for April 14 to interview. When was yours?

Hi mtu mzuri, have you heard anything yet? Our K1 was canceled in April too. I made an inquiry and this is the response they gave. So it seems they scheduling k1s after all. Waiting games...

August visa statistics are out. At least there was progress. Hoping September there are more family based visas processed. Only 1 K-1 visa processed and a few CR1/IR1s.

Thanks for sharing ! Didn’t think they were issuing visit (B1/B2) visas yet. One would think fam visas would take precedence.. But all in all, hoping for some positive news in October in regards to K1s and everybody else waiting..

  6. Hello,

I'm hoping a Kenyan or Ugandan member could help me out here (wasn't sure how to post on those forums). I obtained my police certificate from Uganda in Jan but wasn't able to use it due to interview cancellation in April. Will the consulate accept the certificate even though it indicates that it's valid for 6 months? In other words, it the police certificate good to use for a year even though it states that it is valid for 6 months? I want to know if I should get a new one to avoid being stuck in AP.

    Please assist. Thanks in advance

(Hope i'm clear with my question).

It seems some nations DO NOT consider spouses of US citizens exempt from the presidential proclamation. Should I involve a lawyer or a senator for our case? (I am seeing CR-1 spousal visas being issued in other nations, but it seems our nation misunderstands the ex. order). We tried to get an emergency visa stamping for my husband (CR-1 spousal), and we got denied and they cited the executive order about jobs. Can someone please explain this because I thought spouses of US citizens are exempt. Is our consulate misinterpreting the executive order?

    Thank you for your email.

Please note that routine consular operations are currently suspended because of the COVID- 19 crisis. Therefore, we are unable to process the case at this time. More information regarding exceptions is provided on the link below in line with the presidential proclamation.

In the future when consular operations resume, we will review the case. You may monitor the same at www.travel.state.gov.

    See also the announcement below:

    24 April, 2020

On April 22, President Trump signed a proclamation suspending entry into the United States of certain immigrants who present risk to the U.S. labor market during the economic recovery following the COVID-19 outbreak. The proclamation is effective at 11:59 p.m. EDT on April 23 and expires in 60 days, unless continued by the President. U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, and those holding valid immigrant visas on the effective date of the Proclamation, are not subject to the proclamation. No valid visas will be revoked under this Proclamation. Routine visas services have been suspended at U.S. posts worldwide, but as resources allow, embassies and consulates will continue to provide emergency and mission critical visa services for applicants who are not subject to this presidential proclamation. The full text of the presidential proclamation is available on the White House website at: https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/proclamation-suspending-entry-immigrants-present-risk-u-s-labor-market-economic-recovery-following-covid-19-outbreak/.

    Please stay safe and healthy!

    Good day.

We also tried to have an expedited interview at the Nairobi consulate and this is the message we received. There was no mention of the PP Executive order.

"Please note that All consular appointments, including immigrant visas, are cancelled because of the Government of Kenya's suspension of public gatherings. When services resume, updated guidance about appointment scheduling will be given. You may monitor the same at www.travel.state.gov. No additional information about scheduling is available at this time"

    Stay safe and healthy.

    kind regards....

    Greetings,

We received a letter dated Mar 3 from NVC with our case number and informing us that they were forwarding our petition to the Kenya Embassy, and that the embassy will contact the beneficiary .

The visa status check on CEAC shows ready,  case last updated Mar 13. There's further information that case is ready for interview when scheduled at the U.S Consular and to prepare documents as per appointment letter.

My first question is, does the Kenya embassy communicate via postal mail or e-mail?

Based on the information in the tips, tricks and hacks from the NOA2 to NVC to embassy file, one can complete DS-160 once they have the case number but going to CEAC it requires an invoice number which we never received. My fiancé is planning on calling NVC tomorrow to request for it. In the meantime, is there another way to get it?

My other question is, is there more documentation to submit once we log in to CEAC? I have read and re-read the NVC visa process but I'm still confused as to whether the same process described also applies to K-1 since it appears as immigrant visa in some content and non-immigrant visa in other.

    Thanks

    Hey,

I believe for K-1 you don't need an invoice no. There are no additional documents to submit to CEAC. The case number you received is it. Just go ahead and fill out the DS-160. The consulate will communicate via e-mail.

In what way do you mean affected? He needs to get his visa before he can even think of traveling. So first the embassy needs to open. Assuming the embassy opens, he has his visa appointment, he is approved and completes AP before the EO is lifted he still won’t be able to come as fiancés do not qualify under the exceptions.

Likely flights will still be a mess then anyway, EO or no EO. And that may he his biggest obstacle getting here.

ohhhhh i didn't know that one has to get a visa before travelling.. 🤔 mmh. Anyways thanks for your response.

  10. Hi everyone,

My fiance was waiting for his appointment that was scheduled for April 8th but unfortunately, COVID-19 happened and the consulate closed indefinitely. My question is, with the new executive order to suspend immigration for 60 days, will those whose visa appointments were canceled be affected as well? In other words, will those people who do not have their k 1 Visa's yet be affected?

    Thank you kindly,

    Fellow Vjer!
