Thanks everyone for your help and your suggestions. It seems like I'll just have to be extra careful. I appreciate the quick response and I just want to say thank you again to everyone here on the forum for making this process so much easier. Very excited to do the interview!!!

Thanks for sharing @Vickys_Mom - Unfortunately I do not have a KTP. I'm European so I don't think we are issued one. I was just curious in case they did keep it and I would need to prove that my passport is with the embassy it would be nice to have something in writing to confirm this.

Hey all,
I've got my embassy interview next week and I understand that if things go well (fingers crossed) the embassy will keep my passport and send it later via courier (something I have already registered for).
My question is this: Will the the embassy issue a receipt that they kept my passport? I ask because I live in a country where having my passport on me is important for ID purposes.
Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks -
Update - I just did the health check up and it went fine. It took a few hours but the doctor was very clear with her explanations. They said that the information would be sent directly to the embassy so now all that's left is my interview in 2 weeks!

That’s awesome! Congratulations to you and your spouse. Can you share with us your DQ date and which embassy?
Yeah, we're super happy. The DQ date was Dec 22, which was less than 1 month after we sent in the DS-260 with the AOS
The embassy is Jakarta. Doing the medical test next week . Hope everyone gets good news soon!

Happy 2024 everyone! We started the year off with positive news too. We got a message from NVC saying we were DQ. Now we're just waiting for the consulate date and to arrange the medical. It only took a few weeks after submitting the DS 260 and the financial sponsorship info so we were a little surprised.
Does anyone know if we need to schedule the medical ourselves after we hear from the consulate or should we do it earlier? -
Thanks everyone. Your advice helped a lot. In the end I did it through the NVC using their public inquiry. It was relatively quick all things considered.

Our I-130 was approved yesterday! We received an email saying that there was an update to our case but when we checked the website we got an error. Trying again this morning we got through and now we got the official news. Honestly, this didn't take as long as we had expected originally.
Our document mentions that it has now been sent to the NVC in Rochester, NH and that the NVC would contact the beneficiary. As we filed online, should we expect contact via email or regular snail mail?
Anyone have any thoughts?
Congratulations to everyone else who's also gotten the good news and for those who are still waiting, I'm sure good news is just around the corner. -
Hey all,
I hope this is the right place to ask this question but I would love to hear some advice. My wife (us citizen) filed the I130 online last year for me and now we're waiting, as expected, to hear back from them. The thing is, we filed while both of us were living in Spain and now we just moved to Indonesia. Her mailing address didn't change because she used her US address but now we're wondering how to change and if we have to notify our/her/my change of address?
We tried to do it online through the USCIS website but it would only allow for changes made to a US address and that didn't change. So should we wait to hear back from USCIS? Should we file a different form? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. THANK YOU! -
My situation is the same. It just says "it's taking longer than expected". Guess we'll just have to wait a little longer

Hey Carolina,
I'm sorry but I don't know how to respond to your questions. I would make make a different thread and ask the question. You might get more responses?
I hope you get good news!Happy holidays!

Welcome to the November club! So glad to have some company.
Yes, I also filed online and I received the same notification. I checked again yesterday (after submitting a week ago) and there's no change. It says my estimated wait time is 9 months.

Thanks for your advice. I appreciate hearing how others have/are managing.
I know patience is key. In the mean time I'll try to check if mine was sent somewhere else.

Hey everyone,
Just filed I-130 and I-130a online and we got a notification of receipt on USCIS that I believe is the NOA 1. Now starts the long wait for NOA2. I hope it's not too long but I know that realistically we're looking at a wait for about a year. Fortunately we're lucky and we've been living together (out of the US) since we've been married, so we won't have to do long distance anymore. It looks like our case was sent to Nebraska which I hear is a fast one?
I noticed that there isn't a thread for Nov 2022 filers yet so I figured this one could be it.Stressing outWaiting is more fun when it's done with others who are in the same boat -
Hey everyone,
I´m a EU citizen currently in the US and I just got married to a US citizen. I came in on an ESTA and I will be leaving as planned with my new wife in a few days before my ESTA runs out. We plan to live in Europe for a few years and come live in the States in say 5-10 years. I know that in the long term I´ll need a visa to live and work in the US but my doubt exists in the short term:
Can I keep using ESTA when my American wife and I come visit family here in the US occasionally? How will the Customs and Border agents view this? Will I need to apply for a CR1? I´ve read it takes forever and I´m not currently looking to immigrate at this point in time.
Any help/advice/comments/suggestions would be very appreciated.
PS - For those of you worried about getting married on ESTA, it wasn´t a problem at all.

I know people here are helpful but that was a really fast reply! Thanks to you both for your help!
Should I be concerned about convincing customs and border agents about my intent to leave after marriage?

Hey all! First time poster here. I’ve read lots and just wanted to start off by saying thanks to all the lovely people people on here providing help.
so my situation is difficult. I’m European living in Spain and my US fiancée is living in Greece at the moment. We want to get married in the US but we don’t want to live in the States right now. After marrying we want to live together in Greece.
In the Distant future (years down the line) we may want to live in the States.
My doubt is if there’s any reason why I should get a K1 visa at all. Could I not opt for a k3 From Greece? I’m worried about 3 things.
1. Will I be allowed to marry my fiancée in the US on a visa waiver which i can get as a European?2. Will it put at risk potential future visa applications? Again, I wouldn’t be looking for an AOS while in the states to marry her.
3. I’ve read on here that you need to apply for the k3 from the country where you got married but this would hopefully be the States and we want to live and work in Greece after our honeymoon...
I’d appreciate any help or answers to my questions. Thanks 😊
