  1. We filed my husband's 1-601 waiver June 28, 2006. We still have not heard anything! I did not realize that there were forums like this until today. I am so glad that I found it, even it it is so late in my process. It would have really helped me earlier on to be able to talk with others in my situation. I really hope that we find out something soon, and that there really is a blitz. I just heard about the pilot program yesterday, and started crying out of frustration when I realized that it would not help me at all.

We just got our approval letter today, June 6, and it was dated May 29, 2007!

  2. Wow - WHY NOT?? Sorry to hear Mexico takes SOOO long! I've been sort of averaging my own timeline for waivers with what I see on here when it comes to the London Embassy. Good luck.

Well, it isn`t really an immigration forum- it`s actually a forum dedicated to travelers in Cd Juarez, Chih., but a bunch of us ended up there to be able to keep in touch when the server at our regular site goes south.

Hang in there. I really hope that your husband will be home just in time. I explained in another post, but my husband left before his appointment in Ciudad Juarez because his dad was dying. I was about a month in a half pregnant. We thought that there was hope that he would be back for the birth, but he wasn't. My baby was born on June 10, 2006, and his appointment was June 27, 2006 in Ciudad Juarez. Luckily it was a very quick labor because just as I was starting to really miss him everything went very fast. I went to his appointment, so he met our daughter when she was 2 weeks old. I was able to stay in Mexico with him until early August before I had to come back for work. Besides the month and a half that he saw her, he has missed her whole first year. It has been devastating. Our 4 year old has also changed so much. I was able to go to Mexico for two weeks in December of 2005 (he left early November 2005) and then again in the summer, but he has pretty much missed a year and a half of her life, which is a huge part since she is only 4. It sounds like there is a good chance your husband will be back in time. I will be keeping you in my thoughts.

I sincerely hope that this program's an overwhelming success, and that they'll start to implement similar programs in other countries in a few years. Anything that speeds up the waiver process and spares people the pain of separation from their loved ones can only be a good thing.

I agree 100%. So far it has been successful. Too bad they couldn't also put something into place to address those of us who have already been waiting for 6 months and were not eligible to be included in this program simply due to the start date
    :(

I wish they could do something for us that have been waiting a long time too, instead of just people who were able to go after the pilot program started. My husband has been in Mexico since November of 2005 because he went home to see his father because he was dying of pancreatic cancer. He had not seen him for almost 10 years, so we thought it was important that he see him one last time. His dad died about three days after he returned home. We are thankful that he got to see him, but we never knew that we would have to wait so much time for the process to be complete. It has been frustrating that all of the estimated times are always so much longer than what they say. We finally had our appointment in Ciudad Juarez on June 27, 2006, and then we filed the I-601 on June 28, 2006, so we have been waiting almost a full year with no word. These posts are giving me hope that something will happen soon to speed up the process!

  4. Hi Nicole, there is hope that the processing of 601s not in the pilot program will speed up in the near future. They are currently working on June, but on immigrate2us.net there was just an August approval. Word on the street (direct from the Director at DHS in CDJ) is they are working on a plan to "blitz" through the backlog. Best place to keep on eye on this is the 601 forum on immigrate2us.net and keep your fingers crossed!
