  1. Greetings, wife arrive on an IR1 visa and when we filed DS-260 I remember checking yes on the box where authorized DOS to apply for a social security card on our behalf, however she has been here for a month and we have not received any mails yet and it's not easy getting hold of the social security office.

Is there a way to check if DOS applied for the social security card if yes, how do we check the status and if no , how can we apply for a card ?

    Please help.

They asked me to re-upload our files too and we have done it and status is showing "submitted" so I was not sure just like you but now that they did ask you to send your passport means that status is not important.

Congratulations and Welcome to the U.S. of A.

  3. Hello,

My wife did her interviews last week, the officer asked if she brought any photos of us together to the interview and my wife answered that we didn't know we had to bring photos and it was not in the interview appointments email list.

So the officer just answer it's ok.

Is that something I should be concerned, should mail some photos with the passport or just ignore it.

    Please advise and thank you.

Once you have an interview schedule, there is no going back to the NVC review line for DQ.  You've already secured your spot at the embassy.  Moreso with your case since interview has already been completed.

No need to delete the old files from CEAC.  It's good that you already re-uploaded the files.  I suggest you notify the embassy with a screenshot of the location of the new uploads, like you did in your previous communication with them.

Thank youd for your replies if anything they do relief us, while US Embassy refused to confirm if they can locate the files, they simply stated the consular officer will have to open CEAC I plan to write a letter with screenshots when we mail the passport On Tuesday.

Re-uploading all the documents to CEAC would be cheaper than hiring an attorney.  Just re-upload.  It's allowed and it's free.  And it's what the consul officer wants you to do.

As for why they are claiming that you did not upload the documents, it seems to be a CEAC system glitch, even if they haven't admitted it yet.  A number of recent interviewees in the Philippines have reported being told the same thing your wife was.  They re-uploaded the files the same day and their visas were issued some days after.

    Update:

There is no option to delete the files and I had to upload them to the optional documents section , hope that will work.

I was afraid if I do that they will have to send my file to NVC again and then NVC have to accept them. I will go ahead delete current files and re-upload them hopefully it is a glitch and they will see them this time.

  7. Hello VJ Family,

I'm reached to a desperate point and willing to hire an attorney if I don't get anywhere, here is my situation:

Wife did the interview on 07-26-21 at the US Embassy in Ankara, Turkey and was given 221G and was told the reason is we didn't upload police certificate, marriage certificate and birth certificate to ceac and as we know case is not documentarily qualified unless you have those files uploaded.

Long story short I logged in to CEAC and took screenshots of everything uploaded and sent those screenshot to the embassy, they responded to my email with the same none sense.

Please see the screenshot below and as you see everything is uploaded and yet they are saying they are missing them, I'm afraid they reject the visa and tell us because they don't have the required documetns.

What should I do or respond with, should I hire an attorney ?

    please advise and help

I suspect this is due to a system glitch with CEAC that the Department of State is just not admitting to (yet).  It's very unlikely that applicants have not uploaded the required documents to CEAC.  Otherwise, they would not have gotten DQ and scheduled for interview!

And I totally agree and I immediately sent them an email with our CEAC account showing files accepted. It just doesn't make sense telling us we didn't upload the documents when the case was documentarily qualified long before the interview.

I will post again when they reply to my email.

  9. Greetings,

Since I have been posting here I wanted to also update my VJ family about my wife's interview today at US Embassy in Ankara, Turkey.

The officer didn't look at so much papers only asked simple questions about us and asked my wife to take the oath.

Then the officer gave her the passport back and gave her 221G temporary refusal until we have the medical exam.

The officer also told her that our files " passport, tax returns, marriage certificate and birth certificate were not uploaded to CEAC and which is not true I just took a screenshot of them all in CEAC  and emailed it to them.

They also asked for our photos together which was not requested in their email, I also emailed them 10 of our photos.

How bad my situation is ?

so,  Turkey is slow at interviewing all cases

if you check the portal page here,  there is 1 K1 scheduled

and checking to see if any (i think 5 or 6 ) have been approved by embassy doesn't help as they may have been in long AP with interiews prior to covid

Now that you id turkey as country ,  i think VJ members from there can advise you

but it does help to go to the portal and read other Posts from members

Can you send me the link I couldn't find the portal.

Weird they asked for the passport not just a copy prior to interview. maybe they do this in some embassies/type of visa and not others.

Which Embassy and what type of visa (Im assuming spousal visa)?  You dont have timeline filled out.

Sorry for the miss communication I was typing and focusing on work on same time.

They asked for a copy but they asked for all 48 pages.

Not sure if that is a good thing or not.
