  1. I dared smile for my DL renewal and boy the lady taking the picture wasn't having it lol. I had my biometrics reused for my 751 so no picture there. Knowing that I'll have a picture taken for my N400 I went in there all pretty and prepared so at least that one is not crappy.
  2. You want to send that package and have the I-797 form with you long before your I-94 expires. There is a small chance of something going wrong, but if it happens, it would be devastating, as in the example that @Crazy Cat posted
  3. You definitely need to chill. Mine took six months. You’re still well within your time frame
  4. Understandable. But it doesn't mean that this time it will be the same. That being said... You are only 24. You met her October 23rd and four months later you are wanting to marry her? To each their own, but marrying at 24 only four months of chatting with a person online and spending 20 days in person does seem rushed. Did you talk about your views on finances? Shared responsibilities? Children? Life? Sex? Extended family? All that in 20 days, and with her family being with you for some of it? Did you also talk about your culturally different views on finances, education, shared responsibilities, children, life, sex, extended family? Have you considered offering that you marry and live in the Philipines, or in a third, neutral country? Do spend some time in the Philipines forum and ready about people's experiences. I don't want to rain on your parade, but please think long and hard before doing this.
  5. Is there a particular reason why you're in such a hurry to get married? You already say you're "extremely anxious". So if you're very anxious, why are you guys going so fast? Have you considered spending more time together, and if you are still wanting to commit to that person, file for a spousal visa instead?
  6. The N400 is basically an extension of the 751, so if you're applying under the 3- year rule you should submit evidence of a bona fide marriage. The instructions tell you exactly what to submit -read them thoroughly.
  7. Nothing to do as of now, other than go on with your life and worry about it when you do get a case number. You can send it, hoping that it gets attached to your case. Worse case scenario if it does not, you will end up with an RFE. I strongly urge you to work on stress- coping skills. This is your first rodeo with immigration, likely not the last one, so learning how to deal with the "Oooops, I messed up, now what?!" is part of your most immediate learning
  8. Just use my list and get what you have from there. That’s actually my cover letter. Copy, paste, change to what you do have. Tailor it to what you need and you’ll be fine. I couldn’t believe it that I was approved without an interview. My one and only interview was for citizenship, and it was only 20’. You can do it
  9. When is your deadline to reply? You're overthinking it!
  10. Ha! I just now read that I wrote "Copies of Spectrum (Internet) monthly statements showing xxxx as responsible for paying gas and electricity in our joint" hahaha. I guess it didn't matter since I an now a citizen. Anyhow, no, the internet is only on my name. That's why I put it under "cohabitation" because I wanted to show that we live together. I didn't.
  11. This is perfect. You also want to include an employer later that states your obligations, and your salary, together with 3-6 months of paystubs. Current income is what matters. So if the 94k are current as we type these comments today, then this is correct. As per their instructions: For purposes of this affidavit, the line for Total Income on IRS Forms 1040 and 1040A will be considered when determining income. For persons filing IRS Form 1040 EZ, the line for adjusted gross income will be considered So it seems that you're correct. Did you check the household size? That one triggers RFEs all the time.
  12. So, after doing all my cases by myself, and spending countless hours here learning about immigration, I think I am ready to take the next step. I would like to get a certification as an immigration paralegal. Preferably an online class that I could take over the summer. Any links, ideas, and/or suggestions are highly appreciated!
  13. And proper English chocolate. I've come to learn, through one of his masterpieces, that OP doesn't like Hersheys (can you blame them?)
  14. So I had a somehow similar situation. Just to add to some context to mine: We moved from WV to OH in August 2021. I even filed my ROC with my new address, got official USCIS notices, etc. I also filed AR-11 for change of address. Come February 2023 I applied for N400 and they sent me to WV for my biometrics. Meanwhile, I have an ASC that's not even 20' away from my home. My original appointment was Febr 23rd. I just took a walk in on Feb 4th in my ASC, and not only did they allow me to do biometrics, but they also explained to me the following: During the pandemic, some ASC or field offices were closed, and they routed those cases to nearby offices. Even though their offices are fully operational now, USCIS headquarters hasn't picked up on this and they still send applicants to far away places. It might be your case. Your parents might not be able to do a walk in, though, since it's an interview. I'm just trying to provide you with a possible explanation. I called USCIS prior to attempting a walk- in and the lady said "no, don't attempt a walk in, we will get you scheduled for one in the next 30 days". I am glad I didnt listen to her, as they never called me and I am already a USC. So whatever you do, do not reschedule!
  15. Not working on a regular basis does not mean he doesn’t have to report. Has he talked to a CPA?
  16. Go with Hacking. Do not let them win.
  17. What was the reason for not filing?
  18. Pues es que tiene que ser un error. Vos anda lo mismo a la cita, no sea cosa que esté abierta… pero dudo mucho !
  19. He doesn't need to live with you. Actually him being in the US is better because, for the spousal visa, he would have to prove he's living in the US. With a K1, you also have to adjust your status later on. And while you adjust status you will not be able to leave the US or work. Are you ready to be "locked in" for 6-12 months?
  20. I was in your exact same spot last summer. Only difference being I was in Columbus. I purchased my tickets July 7th to fly on the 16th and I kept my trip short (two weeks). On my 40th birthday, July 12th, I found out I was scheduled for my N400 interview, which was on August 29th. So roughly about 45ish days, give or take. It all worked out perfectly.
  21. The person you talked to is awfully wrong and you shouldn't be taking any more immigration advice from them. This person suggested to do biometrics while she's in the US. Do they think biometrics is just a walk-in you can do any day? Nope. The biometric appointment set up by USCIS once you submit the AOS package. And once you submit the package, she can't leave the US because her process will be deemed abandoned. I STRONGLY suggest you and your fiancee both sign up for an account here, and read about the process.
  22. Did you mean DV? If so, no, you don't need to interrupt the other petition. The two of them can coexist. Additionally, have you though of getting married and filing for a spousal visa instead? Paging @Crazy Cat about pros and cons of each.
  23. Your list looks very comprehensive to me. I included ALL bank statements from for the previous two years. Don't be me. It was an overkill. Just do quarterly bank statements and you will be fine.
  24. I think maybe there's a misunderstanding. You will need proof of domicile in the US. Bank accounts, retirement accounts, health insurance, do not prove that. A lease/ property title does. A driver's license with a US address might help too. A job contract does. The CO might request to see evidence that you are either already living in the US, or that you have solid, concrete plans to move by a certain date. It is also advisable that you move either before or with your spouse (do not have the beneficiary come first on their own)
