  1. File an I-130 and go the CR1 route. It’s your only choice if his work visa is expired
  2. Yeah, this is the best thing to do… if you want to commit fraud. Horrible plan.
  3. You could always live in a third country. I do understand your frustration, but any officer can tell you “if you’re so desperate to be together, you can do so in a third country”. Have her leave now to another country. That’s arguable. At least they’re upfront about the fees. Your plan to have her come on a tourist visa and stay is fraudulent. She will have issues either now, or in a few years down the road. Just don’t do it .
  4. No. It says it’s under review. You can say it’s been Approved when the status changes to approved. Until then, they’re supposedly just reviewing it Incorrect. If it was approved the status would say “approved”
  5. Anytime my students ask me what a text means I just ask them “what do you think it means?”. So, same question for you: read it again and tell us what you think it means
  6. No, it’s not. It’s your mistake for not reviewing prior to sending. If you choose to send the tax return instead of the tax transcript, you need 1040+paystubs and optionally proof of employment. Easier just to send the IRS tax return transcript.
  7. Hi there! So sorry this happened to you. I’m also In Columbus and will apply for N400 in February. Curious to hear your interview experience. Thanks
  8. As an F1 student, you have a restricted social security card. When your green card comes in the mail, and if you get a conditional green card, do yourself a favor and immediately apply for an unrestricted one. In a little bit less than two years, you’ll be applying for ROC, which is currently talking anywhere from 1.5-3 years. If you need to change jobs in between, and your extension letter expires, if you don’t have an unrestricted SS card you most likely won’t be able to get a new job. Both of you do have an unrestricted one, together with a valid DL, you’ll be fine as per the I-9. Planning ahead can save you a headache.
  9. I was looking at the poverty guidelines and maybe I fail to see what their true meaning is… but for example it says that for a family of 9 the requested income is about 58k/year. How does a family of 9 survive with that income? Either they’re off, or hubby and I need to budget better
