  1. Mmmmm because she'll have an interview where they'll ask her if she has any connections/ relatives in the US? Because, at one point, she's going to have to provide her address in the I-20 (did you even look at what that document is?) and the college will have to report that address into SEVIS, thus making it easily accessible to the Department of State? Because at some point she will maybe want to have a US DL, for which she'll have to provide an address? It's not about me having connections; it's more about me already having a student visa and knowing what the requirements and regulations are..
  2. No, the jury is still out on whether when she fills out the DS-160 shes going to be honest about her living situation (which she is strongly advised to be). The jury will be even more out when they realize that in reality she's just trying to jump the line to come to the US to live with you. If I have seen this situation many a times just by being in VJ, the DOS and the Embassy have seen this movie 10x more times. Sorry, she's not going to get a student visa.
  3. What is it that you’re confused about? It tells you exactly what information to provide….
  4. Because usually community colleges are quite small. And my question wasn’t why a particular institution of higher learning. My question was why if all States she wanted to go to that particular State. I suspected she wanted to live with you -I was right
  5. I doubt they’ll grant her a visa to go to a community college. And why Oregon and not any other State?
  6. Based on your other post where you ask about a tourist visa, it seems as if she’s trying to shop around for a visa to cut the line and come to the US earlier than with a K1 or a CR1. At least that’s how the Department of State might perceive it, so she needs to be careful when applying, and be honest about her intent.
  7. I understand what you’re saying. I’m just purely going off dates and timelines that I see here in VJ and on Facebook. Most of them are going pretty fast!
  8. My application is still on “actively being reviewed” after my biometrics on Feb 6th . I thought by now I’d have an interview date!
  9. Hard to give an opinion with an incomplete timeline. What embassy are you talking about?
  10. If you like simplicity, file for a spousal visa.
  11. Then you should know that the extension letter is the “receipt” you’re asking about. Good luck with the process!
  12. Yes, they all told you that because it’s a fairly easy process. However, if you’re going to DIY, you should not only know what you need to file, but you should also know what to expect from them. It’s not just a matter of “oh, this is what I need to file, that’s it! I don’t need a lawyer if I know this!” You need to know what an extension letter is, when to expect it, what that extension letter allows you to do, when you can apply for citizenship, the processing times of your center, what evidence to send and how to organize it, etc. In addition, yes, people told you it’s easy, but they also provided you with links that have all the answers to your questions. Did you read those? That’s what you need to do if you’re DIYing: you need to become an A+ student in your process, as some other members here say
  13. Trying not to be rude here, but you need a lawyer because if you had read all the links that people posted on your previous post, you’d have found the answers to your questions. The timeline to receive that notice varies, but you should be receiving something in 1-4 weeks
  14. I hope you’re not doing this without a lawyer. You will receive first a notification with the case number, and then a 797 by mail . That 797 will extend your status for 48 months. Once you get that, carry on with life because it’s currently taking 2-3 years to be processed.
  15. Are you 100% he is dead? How is he selling the firm? THIS IS A MIRACLE!!!😂😂😂
  16. Thank you. It never gets easy no matter how many dogs you’ve lost. Blue was the dog that taught me that pitbulls are one of the best breeds -it’s all in how you raise them. He lived with my in laws for a while when Zach couldn’t find an apartment where they’d accept him -I know, stupid. My in laws live in a very small, rural town, and Blue went with them everywhere. He was an integral part of our family and that’s why we’re heartbroken. We work all day and at night he’d stay up with me in the couch, that’s why nights are the hardest right now. Thankfully we have the other puppies to get us through.
  17. It sounds to me that you’re a young person. Wanting to help is really cool and nice, but please, please make sure you talk about how she’s going to support her family. This could hurt your relationship in the long run. It sounds good and selfless, but….. Anyways, her chances are slim. Better off to spend some time together, marry, and file for a CR1
  18. Just came here with a sad update. We lost our 14 year old dog “Blue” this Wednesday and words can’t describe how devastated I feel. Yes, he was old, and yes, I know that dogs pass away but that doesn’t make it any easier. He was a pitbull. Zach rescued him when he was six months old and he was malnourished and full of worms. He thought he wasn’t going to make it. But he took him to the vet, did everything he could to save him and he did. I met him when he was eight years old and immediately fell in love with him. We gave him the best life we could and we loved him with our life. Last year we got our Chloe, a golden doodle. And this year we added another puppy. His name is Cocha and he’s a dogo argentino. They loved Blue dearly too. Blue made us a very happy family and I hope he felt loved and happy with us. We miss him terribly.
  19. I’m glad you said that. The other day someone called their Philipino soon to be wife their “friend”, I called them out and some users told me I didn’t understand what was customary in the Philippines
  20. No, you cannot sponsor her because she needs to prove strong ties to her home country, and if you sponsor her that’s actually showing the opposite
  21. Yes, you can’t sponsor a friend. But the very first thing you need to learn is not to say that she’s “a friend” if she’s your fiancée. I understand it might be customary in the Philippines, but I’m just stating it how immigration might perceive it. The B1/ B2 might or might not work. You have nothing to lose other than money. You can always try. As to your question about having a kid back in the Philippines, no, that’s not necessarily a strong tie (or not by itself)
  22. How did you meet her? where did you meet her? How old are you? How old is she?
