  1. Question: I purchased a gun (yes, I was a PR and it is allowed for PRs to own a gun). I see there is a question on the N400 about “weapons training”. I never received any formal instruction on it, just my hubby teaching me how to use it. I am assuming I need to mark “yes” on the weapons training question, and then explain at the interview. But I am not sure if this will cause a red flag or not. I did consult with an attorney and he said to mark as “yes” and then explain. But I would love to gain some insight. What throws me off is the word “training”. Sounds as if they are asking about something official? Maybe I’m wrong though. My two options are: 1) mark “yes” and explain at the interview. 2) mark “no” but ask at the interview if this counts as “training” My gut (and attorney) tell me to go with option #1, because it is better to disclose it upfront and let them decide. But I’d love to know others’ opinions
  2. I’m glad I was of some help! And I sent my package right before they came up with the no hole punch thing!
  3. Nono. That was not your original question and you know it. Your question was (based on the title of your post) if it’s necessary to mention him in your visa application
  4. I cannot, will not or should not talk on behalf of other person. Back to your original question, the fact that you are from Ghana and the fact that you separated shortly after you got your green card will bring extra scrutiny, and that is common sense too. If you think about it from a IO's point of view, like I said, that's a strange coincidence. More so if you use the words you used to describe the situation, because you are looking for "chances" after you separated. Chances of what? Chances of reconciling because you love her? I hope you see where I am getting at. Visajourney is for the most part a DIY site, but I think that due to the fact that you're from Ghana and your short timeline, you'll be better off with an experienced attorney that can guide you.
  5. No, because you haven't completed your timeline. And no, you haven't shared what you have done to make your marriage work. How are we to know? The timeline, though, does not help. Separating shortly after the gc is issued is one of the red flags for fraud. And Ghana is a fraud country. Thanks to your fellows that commit fraud. Our questions here are 1% of what the IO is going to ask.
  6. Not according to OP. But regardless, to me, what is strange is that OP is asking if beneficiary has any chances if estranged wife informs USCIS....
  7. The timing is the basis for scrutiny. You said the gc was issued a few weeks before the marriage ended. That’s a strange coincidence.
  8. Thank you, but I will request it because I want to do everything on my part to make sure that officer is aware that I have a pending 751.
  9. First, you can’t file prior to the 90 days. It’s going to be denied and you’ll be out of the filing fee. Second, people apply on the exact same day their window opens but it still gets denied. My theory is that receiving computers are in PST so they are three hours earlier than us. I’ve read of people applying right after midnight and still get rejected.
  10. Here is what the Policy Manual has to say (item #2): USCIS may waive the personal appearance of the military spouse petitioner; however, the adjustment applicant must appear for an interview. USCIS makes every effort to reschedule these cases so that both the petitioner and adjustment applicant can attend the interview before deployment. The adjustment applicant may choose to proceed while the petitioner is abroad. You may want to try and go to the interview. It's at the officer's discretion
  11. That’s why I said that the applicant would need them for the interview
  12. Spot on. I’m sure they get a lot of complaints through -sometimes- no fault of their own
  13. Oh thanks! I didn’t know you could upload documents once it is already submitted!
  14. I know this is not exactly an immigration question, but isn’t a US person to file taxes for every year even if they live abroad?
  15. Entering with an ESTA with the intention to adjust status is fraud. Don’t do it. File for I-130 and go through consular processing. So your question of being able to work while waiting inside of the US is null. Yes, you not filing taxes will be an issue. As a USC (or US person) you are taxed on your worldwide income, so unless you were not working for those 12 years you will have to file back taxes as his main sponsor. But I’ll defer that to @pushbrk. And you either come before your partner or with him on the final move. The beneficiary should not enter the US before the petitioner.
  16. I am more surprised by the fact that people want to DIY, but then they skip reading instructions and then freak out when they make mistakes. In some straightforward cases, immigration can Be DIY but as Pushbrk likes to say, you have to be an A+ student in all the forms. Read the instructions. Read, read, read. And together with the instructions, the USCIS policy manual
  17. Thanks! I have been saving some evidence from filing the 751 but honestly I feel like I’ve been slacking. I can always add joint bank statements (I’m uploading some to my N400 application), some joint utility bills… we own the house so no leases. I am also taking some pics that I’m not uploading online, the 2022 tax returns, the State and city taxes… but I’m afraid that I have them my very best on my original 751 application!😂
  18. Not yet. It’s still mid- January😂. We often file our taxes mid- February and I’m applying first week of February. So I guess we’ll just take our 2022 tax return to the interview.
  19. It’s mostly in case they want to file for a benefit for child the future
  20. Thank you! I’m positive you added some emojis after “May 2019”😂😂😂
  21. @Crazy Cat I think your wife requested a combo interview in a letter…. Did you file online? If so, how did you include the letter? Can you share the wording of the letter ?
  22. Just another slightly stupid question for which I think I know the answer: we might not have submitted our 2022 prior to my N400 submission, so I’m assuming that until April 15 2023 the last tax year of tax returns could be 2021 right?
