  1. Thank you. We’ll see what the CPA says once he runs both scenarios!
  2. Thank you. If it’s only a few dollars of difference then we are MFJ. But the CPA thinks there might be a bigger difference if we MFS, so we’ll see what he says. I really trust that CPA. Also, in case we do MFS, would it still be strong enough evidence to upload our IRS Transcript into my N400 application ?
  3. Yeah it’s just that due to some independent income we might end up with a bigger Federal refund, which we’ll probably need to pay for city taxes, that are sky high in here. But I do wonder if that’s a good enough reason for USCIS (do they even care ?)
  4. Hey y’all again, today I went to file my taxes and maybe this year (due to some independent income) it might make more sense to file MFS (a bigger refund by the thousands). The CPA will run both scenarios (MFS and MFJ) and will let me know. But if we do end up financially better by filing separately, is that going to be an issue? And will just a bigger refund be enough of a reason for N400?
  5. Wait! So you’re saying you’re married. When did you get married?
  6. I don’t know if you’ll get an RFE or not - time will tell. But what I do know is that you should have made a copy of the package you sent!
  7. And also you talk about an interview letter, but how am I supposed to have an interview letter before I apply?
  8. Thank you, but that was not my question . I haven’t seen an N400 denied because of too many relevant documents, have you?
  9. Have you seen an application delayed for submitting all relevant documents? Not a friend of a friend… first hand? Have you ever known of an officer saying they delayed the decision because the applicant submitted too many documents?
  10. Hopefully you’ll pass your interview without any RFEs. It’s actually point 3 and it doesn’t say “or”. I am very confident about the evidence I submitted. And actually your statement is misleading because some of us will not have a tax return transcript maybe even for the interview because of the April 15th deadline, so by your judgment if I upload a tax return transcript by the 14th then I don’t need a bank statement. And if I have both and nothing to hide, why wouldn’t I upload it? Officers are more professional than what you give them credit for
  11. Thank you for your input, but again, you’re mistaken. If one’s filing under the theee year rule like I am, then part of your evidence is the joint bills/ statements/ deeds and lease. This is a continuation of the 751. And why would I risk getting an RFE? Anyways my question has been answered
  12. Thank you. It's just that I don't want to be fumbling through papers on my interview day. The only paper I will probably take is the interview letters, the cards (EAD, GC, etc) and my stepson BC together with my husband's child support payments in case they want to see it.
  13. Thank you for your insight. But I don't think it's for people with criminal records or tax exemptions, and I highly doubt that folks under these circumstances would be DIYing and filing online. I was just wanting to know from experience if that delays anything in a pretty straight forward case.
  14. Then why does it have the option to upload additional evidence? Is there something wrong about being over- prepared versus being "under" prepared?
  15. That's a very thorough and detailed response. Thank you so much. I will upload joint utility bills as they come. And we're filing our federal, State, and city taxes tomorrow, so most likely I will have the return uploaded too. I just want to get to my interview without feeling unprepared or off- guard.
  16. Oh I see. No, I am uploading for my N400, stuff that I haven’t uploaded in the original application because I didn’t have it. But I don’t know if that delays anything or not. in a way, my documents for my N400 are the updated version of the 751
  17. No, the 751 is paper so it’s for the N400… wait do I have the choice of deciding under which case to upload?
  18. Hey y’all! If I upload documents as I come across them (for example the joint monthly bills or the IRS tax returns), is it going to delay my application? Im just trying to see if it’s worth updating everything online or waiting until the interview. I just uploaded our electricity bill from January but now I’m doubting myself
  19. I filed for ROC a year ago and still no news after they reused my fingerprints in March. I just applied for citizenship and still crickets. The fees are also going to up soon, and no, their processing won’t be faster in the short term, so do yourself a solid and wait 5 more months.
  20. This is not going to be your last rodeo with USCIS. You'll learn to manage your anxiety. Fill up your timeline with Embassy information so that people from that country can chime in. Read the Embassy reviews here.
  21. They can deny it at any point, or wait until the interview. And they might not even deny it. I wouldn't go to the Embassy and start yelling WE ARE NOT MARRIED!!!! As soon as I come in. I would wait until I am asked, and offer an explanation there and then. Thank you! I always get them mixed up
  22. Depends on the officer, so no point in worrying. You're still far from the interview.
  23. It's DHS in your case, not USCIS. And no, it's not on them to prove that. It's on you. They simply don't have the time to dig into each case.
